I just bought a new PC with nvidia geforce gtx 1070ti, i3-10105, 16GB ram, reinstalled windows on USB stick and installed gpu drivers, also asus app for motherboard which is a PRIME model. I previously had an office level shit PC that barely ran games, so even if this is an old gpu by today's standards its a massive step up to me. I've recently learned about capping the framerate to my monitor's refresh rate and that GPU temps should stay consistent, ideally below 80 C according to google I suppose. Are there any other "gamer" things I should know or am I good to go?
>>109611318there was something with gsync. Cap framerrate in-game 3 FPS below your monitors max, disable vsync in-game and enable it via the Nvidia control panel but I don't know if people still do this.
>>109611318Look into undervolting + overclocking the GPU. Also youtube is filled with videos of optimal settings for getting max image quality from older hardware for specific games.
Hey guysI just finished building my PC, but I don't know why the CPU fan,my “Peerless Assassin”,keeps making a hell of a racket even when I'm just running Windows. So I used Fan Control, which let me create a fan speed curve. When I'm doing office work, the noise isn't too bad anymore, but when I'm gaming, it's pretty terrible,it sounds like a constant jet engine.Sometimes, the cpu will rise its temp for just few seconds, and then go back to normal. Its a ryzen 7 7700x
>>109611900fell for the tower cooler meme
>>109611900You live with the noise. It comes with buying a tower cooler.>cheaper tower cooler -> more noise>more expensive AIO -> less noiseHave to pick one. Luckily I have a spare bedroom so I moved all my PC and server stuff there so I can use the tower coolers without the noise bothering me.
>>109611900the 7700x runs hot. best you can do is further tune fan curves/hysteresis settings and give undervolting or eco mode a try.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oubGmP4nLbQ
>>109611900The thingie it supposed to output 42dBA at full power, that's not loud at all. Do you have other fans of similar size to compare them to to see if something's not defective? Nevertheless, a 7700x doesn't need the fans working at full power to be effectively cooled, noise and cooling power aren't linearly related, cutting fan noise in half compared to max volume doesn't mean you're getting half the cooling performance, but actually around 80% of total.
>>109612053>>109612127Well I'll maybe go get a bequiet like in my old build kek>>109612166I'll watch it, thanks>>109612219I unplugged every other fan but the noise comes from the Peerless. I'll play with Fan Control to see if I can improve it

Bloodborne is extremely impressive for 2015.Bloodborne devs actually went through and 3D modeled bricks and crevices all over. It's crazy. It has a higher poly density than DS3 easily. And rivals ER in most spots.Bloodborne and DS3 do share some assets, and Bloodborne always gets the higher resolution version. Likely to get it to run on Xbox One (30FPS @ 900P). PS4 had excellent memory and bandwidth but a mobile CPU, and Xbox one had bad memory design with the esram and a mobile CPU. Jaguar was weak even back in 2013 due to it having weak single core CPU performance, but AMD could offer nothing better at the time. I could probably spend half as much on the cpu without bottleknecking gaming, but the benchmarks I've seen position the 270k very well for non-gaming tasks, which makes it interesting.I've picked the other components without double checking just to get an idea about the final price. I'm leaning towards 1 16GB stick of ddr5 since two 8G cost twice as much, and I can upgrade later.Thoughts? https://it.pcpartpicker.com/list/np3Xn2

>>109617782but that's literally happening to the 5070ti and sometimes, the 5080. the 9070xt overtakes them at lower resolutions/higher fps since it isn't as bogged down by nvidia's gpus by cpu bottlenecks.
>>109617693I'd take out the expensive stuff for carry on, but yeah pretty much.
I play at 4k with some low internal resolution upscaled with dlss in battlefield 6 and I get a solid 140 fps on my 144hz tv, with a 5070. You just can't beat dlss, reflex low latency etc.
>>109617626give up on transporting cheap/bulky items like the case/psu/monitors and only bring with you smaller/more expensive parts like the cpu, ram, ssds and gpucheck-in luggage if flying on white/yellow airlines or hand carry (split across family/friends) if on shadier airlines with workers known to steal from check-in luggage
>>109617798And how is the 5090 doing in those graphs. Is it still significantly ahead of the pack? If not, that's just a cpu bottleneck unless you're seeing the 9070 xt pull ahead of those two by a notable not-margin-of-error amount which ive yet to see
>wow you fucking nvidia paypigs, AMD is SOOOOOOOOO much better>You can get 1000 fps at 1080p!>pathtracing?LMAO
is there any reason why a boot drive needs to be bigger than 512gb?
>nvidiafags: dlss is SUPERIOR >also nvidiafags: who CARES about dlss-induced cpu bottlenecks or 144hz+ gaming LMAO
>Nvidiafags:MmmMmmmm I love eating shit>AMDfags: Hey stop hogging all the shit!!! I want to eat too!!!!
>>109617853If you install a lot of apps because program files will be stored on the C drive. I suppose you might be able to change that to another drive but I've never checked.

>>109617626put all parts on their packages as in original intent (you can maybe leave RAM and CPU on your mobo Put them on your luggage also buy the hard cased and locked

>>109608339>AMD CPUFound the problem.
>>109617944the gskill kit has better timings, not that it matters for a 9800x3d
>>109617929Yes, apps.
>>109616069The difference is that if I want a new CPU in three years I'll have to buy a new motherboard also, right? (So I'd have to spend ~400€ instead of ~300€)Is that the only difference? I don't plan to upgrade in a long time to be honest
>>109618030boards that are worth using starts at $200
>>109618004>Yes, apps.
>>109617888This "bottleneck" doesn't exist and it is just some random dude rambling to - in a backhanded way - say AMD GOOD NVIDIA BAD - to somehow claim the 5090 is slower than it really is because like the underpants gnomes he doesn't actually have a way to explain step 2.

so it's safe to say there are no good monitors and tvs are the way to go?

>>109618320there are lots of good monitors but tvs are better at raw hdr performance
we should push dlaa as standard testing
>>109618312nvidia dropped the ball on this issue but I doubt they care too much about it since AI prints them way more money than gaming ever did in the last 20 years
>>109618358>dropped the ball>is faster than AMD across the boardNot only is that dude wrong about dlss magically making nvidia cards slower dlss is still light years ahead visually of fsr.

>>109618373Go for it advanced marketer, explain how this magical scenario you have concocted is true.
>>109617677WTF
what are my options for itx cases that can accept a d15?
>>109618345yeah going to buy a s95h when it's on its clearance sale if next years model is confirmed to NOT be glossy
>>109618438this case >>109617677 has many variations and is sold under various brand names. It's also fairly cheap compared to other mini itx cases. Some can even accommodate full ATX PSU, big tower coolers and still remain very small. I bought one several years ago. Still love it.
>>109618559mind pointing me towards some?
Is 20mins good enough for a small FFT stability test?
>>109618578No.
>>109618578are you retarded?
>>109618591>thread for asking questions>YOU'RE A RETARD FOR ASKING QUESTIONSwoah, so based anon, you sure are helpful
>>109618578Yes, don't overdo small fft since it's not a particularly good stability test (unlike ycruncher) and can degrade older CPUs that don't clock stretch or have a current limit in place
>>109618598
>>109618568https://de.aliexpress.com/item/1005010651091653.htmlBeware, this case is quite short, so long gpus won't fit.
>>109618606oh well if a.i says that who am I to question?
>>109618568google KXRORS G200 , or Shiny Snake G200 for other sellers or if you need more in depth specs.Other than that, assembly of mini itx builds is a bitch and you have to get creative sometimes.. There ARE ATX PSUs that won't fit and the long thick cables of premium modular psus can be a problem. You could also stick to a SSF psu, if you want to be on the safe side.
>>109618744where does the hot gpu air go
>>109618756
>>109618756Go?
why is there no itx case with the motherboard horizontally on the bottom? like the board basically laying down like in those old desktop style cases? there would be a spine in the modle of the case to separate the gpu and cpu too (maybe even the psu).
>>109618796How many ITX cases have you actually looked at?
>>109618804non at all.
>>109618438Just get an NR200 and a thermalright cooler. It's pretty spacious to build in as far as itx goes. Need an FE card though. Very few other gpus fit.
>>109618831but that case is almost double the size of the Shiny Snake and 4x the price...
Guys, serious question here. When do you think this current ram cycle will "end" so we can have lower pricing for consumers again ?
>>1096188732028 (maybe)
>>109618873current prices will be the new low after doubles again next year
>>109618873The Ai phenomenon is so strange that nobody can really tell. Next year at the earliest, if the Ai bubble burts this winter, I would say.
>>109618868I was just sharing my experience. It is hung under my desk so I don't need a tiny case. I also paid $76 for it in 2025 so why is it 4x the price?I also have a 7L console style case but the quality is not so great. S5M is 10 liters and I would probably get that instead now.
>>109618873If I had to bet money on it, I'd guess 2028 or 2029.
>>109618617>>109618744thanks its for a downsizing build that I'm doing so ive already got a system but I will be travelling so a chassis I can take on planes is needed
>>109618926>why is it 4x the priceI don't know, maybe it's Ai related again.
uh, next bread?

>>109608198What CPU should I pair with a 9070 xt?I was originally thinking about the 9800x3d but looking at benchmarks I saw that the biggest difference made is in 1080p, while I'm planning on playing in 1440p. Now I'm routing more for the 9600x or 9700x. Need some advices

What GPU can I upgrade up to with a 650W PSU? Currently have an RTX 3060 12GB, not worried about going down to 8GB of vram.
>>109619664what cpu?
>>109619677i5 11400f, I should've mentioned it cause it'll bottleneck almost anything above a 3060 I'm sure.

>>109619713*plan
>>109619713Thank you, I play at 1080p. Just trying to stay above 60fps these days. I have a prebuilt office pc arriving and I thought it would be fun to throw the 3060 in that and see if I could upgrade this computer.
