this is only semi related but kinda relevant because of the whole AI discussion. i wonder if in the future the skill of transcription will be lost to future musicians. some of these AI tools are scary good, but theres a certain satisfaction of working out a song note by note instead of tossing it into some algorithm.

I agree, it would suck having to learn the instrument AND transcription at the same time. But it's a very good skill to have, to hear music and know what chords/notes are being played. I can determine notes and basic chords but it takes around 30 seconds, with practice the time can be cut shorter and shorter.

ive found that it can transcribe fairly well but get confused too easily on certain notes or overtones. its quicker for me to do an ai stem separate, and then manually transcribe it in Transcribe. also for general theory questions its useful, although there has been instances where ive had it not even know the notes on a fretboard. so hit or miss. a proper ai trained on music theory books would probably be very helpful vs reddit or wherever they trained this on

seban's mixes are "good" if you go by narrow left-brain technical metrics like overall loudness, loud and intelligible vocals, snappy transients. but cargo cultists think of his mixes as sonic perfection which is not the case at all, they're not what audiophiles are chasing. despacito is like the world record music video and it was mixed with outboard gear, not by serban ghenea. manny marroquin also has great mixes of selena gomez etc etc. serban is all about quantity over quality, he has many duds that didn't make it anywhere near the #1 spot on the charts.
