Why do the Chink phones surpass the iPhone so badly in the battery life? Even the S26 does.
I thought it was supposed to have the most optimized OS/hardware (tm)?

iOS and Chinese ROMs like Xiaomi's HyperOS aggressively kill background apps. Samsung does too, thoughbeit to a lesser extent.

iOS doesn't even have real multitasking for doing the needful for that isn't Apple related.
Inb4
>I switched apps and it loaded right away!
Yes, you can suspend an app and resume it, but you need to fulfill certain conditions (like playing audio) for the app to do ANYTHING in the background.
>>
How fast is the processor in a S20 ultra compared to phones these days? Would a ~400€ phone even beat it?
>>

>GrapheneOS Edition!
Apparently they're now trying to make their own implementation of RCS without relying on Google Messages by using the carrier backends like Apple does, hopefully they open-source their work if they get it working so other messaging apps can finally get RCS support and we're not stuck with Google's shitty app anymore.
>>
>>109763772
recent Poco F and even X series phones will absolutely demolish it
of course, they're chinkslop with shit software and bad cameras, but they will beat older flagships easily
>Poco F7 Pro, F8 Pro, X8 Pro, X8 Pro Max
all between 350 and 550 euro, the F8 Pro for example is @ 550 euro and as powerful as the S25 Ultra

I wonder why instant messaging never caught on there. It came first (before RCS) when your only option was shitty MMS and it still is more feature-rich than RCS.
I would fucking kms if I had to use SMS/MMS/RCS instead of an instant messenger.
>>
>>109763850
that explains why that garbage app is forcing itself everywhere.
I wish Google would fucking murder itself
>>
>>109763912
The biggest reason is because SMS/MMS has been free in the US for a long time, many overseas carriers charged you for it back then.

Should I get a used iPad Mini 6, a used Mini 7, or wait for the Mini 8 with OLED display and buy that instead?
I'd buy an Air M3/M4 no questions asked, it has the best specs to price ratio of the iPads, but I need something portable to read in bed, not a laptop replacement.
Yes I am in the Apple ecosystem I own an iPhone 16PM and Airpods Pro 3.
>>
>>109763951
I can't really see that being the reason. SMS/MMS were included in monthly plans in EU too. Even the poorfag plans would give you 300-500 free messages which were more than enough for most people.

I remember when instant messengers were catching on here in EU. The killer features were
>higher quality media sharing
>file sharing (although it was very limited at the time)
>voice messages
>group chats
>seemingly faster and less buggy message delivery
>visually more polished apps compared to the default SMS/MMS apps in iOS and Android
>(for kids) stickers and animated emojis
Moving to instant messengers was a logical step forward just like using MSN or Skype was considered a logical upgrade to using email for communicating with friends and family. It would be bizarre as fuck if you communicated with people using email/SMS/MMS these days, almost like how using IRC instead of an IM would feel weird to most people.

iPhone's had iMessage for the longest time but for whatever reason Android users just endured SMS/MMS until RCS came out and even then messaging between Android and iPhone was still SMS for a while until they finally added RCS to iOS.
>>
>>109764368
>>109764381
>iMessage
This actually might be the reason why people in EU use instant messengers. iPhones didn't initially catch on in the EU, so nobody used iMessage. Which meant people were less used to opening the default "Messages" app to chat. Both WhatsApp and Facebook (also Skype) arrived a year or two before iMessage and they normalized (and later standardized) chatting in 3rd party apps instead of the apps that come with your phone. Once iPhones started getting popular it was already too late, as all iOS users had to install one or two 3rd party messaging apps to be able to chat with the majority of people.
It's basically the reverse of "green bubble vs blue bubble" situation in the US, since iOS is the cucked OS here in terms of communication.
>>
>>109764037
Still better than iOS

/g/ is a Pixel board it seems.
I'm mainly deciding between the 10a and Nord 6 because they are both under 400 bucks and they each have their strengths (Software/Camera vs. SoC/Battery).

>>109764550
That is why I have such a hard time deciding. I also don't like the round, thick bezels the Pixels have. Their OS and camera software are supposed to be really good.
>>
>>109764712
>/g/ is a Pixel board it seems.
They're one of the only phones with unlockable bootloaders with worldwide availability.
>>
>>109764712
Yes it is true they are one of the only phones with properly unlockable (and relockable) bootloaders, as well as GrapheneOS support.
I bought a Pixel 8a a few years ago falling for this meme, and god the hardware is SHIT. Just take for example the GPS chip. An iPhone 8 (!!) gives me perfect accuracy in a plane 35,000 ft in the air while the Pixel struggles on the ground in a car. That's one example. Don't get me started on the CPU or GPU (nonexistent). If I knew this I would have bought a Samsung or at least a OnePlus instead (though they are also kind of shitting the bed in terms of hardware).
Pixels have the best cameras hands-down though, far beyond iPhones and Samsungs (which I would place second). Just want to give a more well-rounded perspective but ultimately it's your choice.

Everything you need to get an ad-free YouTube Music experience on iOS without paying for a subscription, you can sideload custom modified IPA files like YTLitePlus or YouTubeiVanced using tools like Sideloadly, AltStore, or SideStore. With Google locking down, it's crazy to think in 2027 iOS will be able to install files without a pc and android will need a 24 hour wait than a pc adb file load. No waiting time is needed to use ipa files and sideloaded apps on iOS.

anyways what's the real street price of the phone? I see it listed at 746 EUR on amazon.de but that seems a bit high for a Poco that's not even the Ultra, like, it's way too close to the price of the S26 FE or even the actual S26 and within striking range (200 EUR) of the base model iPhone
>>
>>109768157
>who the FUCK names this shit?
8 = Flagship-tier chip. The lower the number the more budget of a CPU class it is.

Elite = "The very best of 8-tier SoCs".

Gen 5 = 5th generation, or 5th series. This is basically what you're looking for to see how new the internals of an SoC are. Newer is always better. This is the equivalent of the difference between AMD Ryzen 1xxx/2xxx/3xxx/etc.

V Series = Virgin loser series. It's kind of like a refurbished chip. These are chips with non-impactful manufacturing defects which are sold for less $. It's similar to how Intel and AMD sell their mid-range and budget CPUs, which are just high end CPUs with disabled cores and memory. In this specific case the "V Series" model simply has 33% less CPU cache, which results in slightly worse performance (mainly GPU-related performance).

iMessage sucks. I can't send files via text to anyone with an iPhone because Apple put a moat around their walled garden and broke functionality for everyone outside it. How they haven't been sued yet is beyond me. Apple actively breaks things that should work just to trap you in their ecosystem.
>>
>>109769250
The software is crap. It's hard to see all the issues with software when you look at a spec sheet. It's why Pixel phones can offer a better experience with worse hardware than a Chinese phone with excellent hardware but poorly optimised hardware.

For me, it's phone from last year that fits within your budget.
This blanket advice of 'get last year's flagship" worked when phones were 500e max, and budget and mid-range phones were unusable, but nowadays even 200e phones are solid devices.

So get a 200e phone that was 300e on release last year, a 500e phone that was 800e, etc.

In this particular case, the S23 released with android 13, with 4 promised OS updates, so it's not that far from end-of-life support-wise.

You are aware they clearly avoided showing the crease? If there was truly no crease you bet theyd spend at least several minutes of showing it from various angle telling you how creaseless it is. Its most likely as bad as samsung last gens. Nowhere close to whatever oppo for example did.

The variable aperture on iPhone 18 Pro has a very niche use case, it's not meaningful to most people. Because of the small sensor size on a phone, the crop factor is extremely high. Modern phone cameras already have really wide apertures, about as wide as you can go (iPhone 17 Pro has f/1.6 on the main 24mm equivalent "wide" camera). Meaning the full frame equivalent aperture of the phone camera is going to be f/11 or higher.

The 18 Pro camera is effectively the same f-number wide open. The only thing you can adjust is making the aperture narrow to f/4. So equivalent of like f/32. The difference between f/11 and f/32 is meaningless in terms of DOF, especially on these wide angle lenses, you are already focusing to infinity.

Unless you are shooting in extremely harsh light and want to keep a slower shutter, so you narrow the aperture to reduce the exposure. That's the only thing you can do, restrict the light by raising the f-number. You can achieve the same goal in exposure (because, as established, you are never going to get shallow DOF on focal lengths these wide with effective apertures so narrow) by using ND filters, of which there are multiple systems for the iPhone. And again, this is really only needed if you want to take a photo with a slow shutter, or you want a specific shutter angle for video.

Feel free to correct any of this.

ok his criticism of the Samsung's 3x is so exactly typical of a gonzooomer.

He doesn't understand that the reason it is washed out is they are all starting out with a washed out image, and the others are much more heavily processing the image. That's because of haze (in the atmosphere).

He doesn't understand photography, and it shows.

I said in previous thread apple scrambled apple car, because every crash report would damage their brand.
If they released flop-alpha-beta tier product everyone would associate failure with their NEW duo.
That's pretty much mistake Samsung has done, they are few generations in fold and people will associate all those failures/beta products with their latest one, besides regular failures like android not being polished.
If you give option to a richfag he will always buy apple duo over samsung fold in my opinion
>>

Its weird that one phone only has face ID and one phone only has touch ID because apple users have been conditioned to shit on touch ID after it got removed. The Duo is 25% heaver and 15% thicker than the fold 8 so I dont think "no room" is an answer

Samsung can't even stop the green lines from happening and it's been a known issue since the s21. Android authority literally has articles out explaining how Samsung's own update is causing the green line issue too.

They refuse to acknowledge the defects… they should be forced to do a recall like they had to with the note 7!

A s24 exploded in Korea this past May as well. Nothing to do with hot climate, the smartphones have a massive defect and the company won't recall them until they are forced to like with the Note 7.

Many videos are out of people showing the device getting the green line from an official Samsung software update. The OneUI 8.5 update is causing it to happen to the new s26 ultra as well.

Apparently electricians figured the green line issues with Samsungs and they won't issue a recall or fix; it's the updates melting the ribbon connector.

I had some issues with connecting to a dji drone on my rm10
turns out it's mostly an issue with android (maybe 16, probably earlier) wifi QOS detection shutting off a connection to a wifi network that doesn't have internet access. This seems like an issue Android should handle instead of trying to fuck its developers over, but whatever
ended up needing to send a couple of commands over adb to turn QOS checking off entirely
then I had to tell the phone to connect anyway, outside of dji fly
I'm trying to connect again and it's frustrating that I need to go outside of the app to connect to the drone wifi independently, it's a dance between android wifi settings and the fly app but now it won't disconnect me once I'm in.
moral of the story is that if you buy a dji drone, get a full controller and don't rely one wifi.

Yeah only the spammer is allowed to post flamebait against Samsung, reposting the same false information every thread. How could you be so immature to post anything critical of Apple. That isn't allowed, and it isn't ok.
