AMD's iGPU seems to be a constant cause of issue when using an Nvidia GPU for some reason, but you can just disable it and it shouldn't cause any issue.

when you update or downgrade your gpu driver the cache inside the gpu folder is cleared but not the browser folder or actual other directories. you have to do that manually. the easiest way normies deal with it is by deleting the profile folder and then syncing back all the lost data through the cloud or the local backup shit if the browser has it.
>>
>>109803357
>Is the Gigabyte Aorus FO32U for 610 dollars a good deal?
It's okay, been out for around two years now.
I think I saw some 32" 4K QD-OLEDs being discounted to around $550 (not 100% sure), but I wouldn't wait to save the $60 at this pt.

>It'll be my first OLED panel, what should I know beforehand?
Some people don't like the text fringing even at 4K, you can get used to the difference after a week or so.
Check review & owner feedback to see if there's any Gigabyte-exclusive quirks related to panel protection or some other concerns like switching between SDR & HDR modes.

The QD-OLED panel can scratch easily, basically don't touch it.
Spray distilled water on a microfiber cloth to clean the panel from time to time.
Cough away from the display.

>have better options been released since?
Not to a significant degree, and they usually cost closer to $1,000.
The 32" 4K panels releasing next year will have stripe RGB subpixel layout with higher maximum brightness (350 nits minimum full screen vs. 250).
Those 2027 QD-panels won't be bested for a while, it will require adopting new production technology like MAX OLED.
Expect those new monitors to cost around $1500 or more.

>How annoying is the pixel clean?
You might have to plan your breaks around it, and manually start the pixel clean to prevent the annoying notifications to pop up when you're occupied .

>Apparently it's 10 minutes every 4 hours. Is this really necessary?
Not for most users, but there's no way to permanently disable this option as far as I know.

I got an MSI QD-OLED, and they basically gave you an option to hide the annoying reminder (remind and force pixel clean after 24 hours of non-stop use, monitor enters pixel clean after the 4 hour mark if it enters standby mode).

Looks like it's not really worth waiting indeed. There was also another gigabyte for 50 more, mo32u24, but out of stuck now. It's slightly brighter, but I typically tend to have very low brightness so that's not super important for me.

Bought the 271QRX in late '24 for $600, got fed up with IPS blacks & VA wasn't a good alternative.
32" 4K 321URX was $800, but I prefer having higher refresh rates and I'm treating this monitor as a trial run before I buy a 4K one in the future.
Happy with the purchase because every game looks better compared to edge-lit IPS.
Wasn't impressed with any of the miniLED monitors available in 2024.

Why is out of box ram limited to like half speed, am I good to put it to 6k?
>>
>>109803742
The stock memory speed & timings follow JEDEC standardized specifications.
XMP / EXPO is an overclocking profile supported by Intel or AMD.

>am I good to put it to 6k?
XMP / EXPO should work fine for most PC builds.
Below average CPU bins or inadequate memory profile validation by board vendors can cause instabilities.

Cinebench r23 for pure CPU benchmark. Overclockers use CPU-Z's benchmark as well.
Newer Cinebench weighs RAM performance (plus GPU in some options).
3DMark for gaming benchmark, Steel Nomad is a 4K raster test included in the free version.

There's a lot more benchmarks if you're interested in enthusiast stuff (y-cruncher, pyprime, etc.)
BenchMate has all the stuff enthusiast overclockers use.
https://www.benchmate.org/en

You want a clean, debloated Windows OS drive if you want to be sweaty with all this.
>>
>>109803858
Faster RAM speeds & tighter timings require voltage adjustments for the RAM modules & the CPU's memory-related voltages.
Don't change settings you don't understand, especially if you have an X3D CPU (they benefit less from memory OC).
You need to check whether the speed/timing/voltage changes you make don't cause any instabilities.

XMP / EXPO is supposed to apply a stable memory OC with safe voltage changes applied.
>>
>>109803858
JEDEC defines baseline standards that are lowball as fuck.
Samsung, Micron etc make chips that are at least as good as the standards but most of the chips turn out way better.
Kingston etc buy the chips, thoroughly test them, make ram sticks out of matching sets, test again, and guarantee the sticks work at specified XMP speed (in their perfect lab conditions)

But memory controllers in CPU and motherboard PCB quality are only made to match JEDEC standards.
By enabling XMP you are "overclocking" your memory controller and bus which may or may not tolerate increased speed.

you know what type of issues you get apart from clock stretching when undervolting an ryzen chip even if it stable on paper? you get random usb, pcie and io errors. the system will run prime95 just fine but in day to day use with load changes it's going to become the ayyymd meme.

Frogfag is retarded. It always comes to silicon lottery. UV can also get unstable because chips degrade over time. My 7800X3D is running at -15 all core because I didn't bother to manually check every single core to make more aggressive UV. Then there is curve shaper if you have too much time to tinker with your hardware.

dial back to stock and see if it still occurs for those games. could also be a known occurrence on those titles too; may need to check.

>>109805657
They do degrade.
CPU will require higher voltage to achieve the same frequency.
This is why you have so much safety margin built in and you can UV to begin with.
It's not a matter or "if" but "when". I'm not saying it will happen in 2 years, it's a slow process mostly irrelevant for a normal user.

Any opinions on Dell Plus S3225QC? It's on sale where I'm from (~$483, for comparison Dell Alienware AW2725Q QD-OLED is ~$719). I was thinking of replacing one of my monitors (Dell S2721DGFA, my second monitor is titan army p275mv plus), and I'm considering trying OLED and switching it from 1440p to 4k. It'd likely be my "main monitor", so the one I game on and do most of the browsing, so with 5070ti I'll have to go on DLSS hard from what I understand, while secondary one I watch movies, work, and also browse on when I want multiple windows. The soundbar seems annoyingly big and useless for me, but not a deal breaker. I'm also worried about the ports and with just a single HDMI port, I can't really comfortably switch it around so that it's my secondary one, as swapping to the work laptop would be annoying. It'd cause my monitors to me of different sizes, but of the same resolutions as currently it does cause some programs to behave oddly when swapping them between screens.

It's a heavy mixture of slippage (people not even enabling it or not RMAing when it fails), and very clear concessions to compatibility and longevity.

It's actually something that really annoys me about the PC industry because XMP/EXPO is purely the product of the DIY market and there are basically no standards of reliability or standardized profiles (e.g. each vendors "6000mhz CL30" has different timings). Actually using the shit requires an insane amount of faith in the company selling you the shit. Which I really don't anymore.

I feel like amd has a pretty good winning process, but yeah depending on the sku you'll get more or less degradation. Degradation itself is a factor mainly taken into account by either server cpus running nonstop for years at a time, or the premium high voltage cpus (9950x and 9850x) cpus for amd. The 13900k and 14900k degradation is just retarded though. You'll probably see the same shit on 9000x amd cpus in 4 or 5 years albeit.

It's a tradeoff that cant really be solved. Ether you get a shiny screen that's scratched over time or you get a matte screen that's worn out and smeared over time. There is no “built in safety margin” for OC/UV. There is no guarantee that your chip will undervolt and many of them don’t. My card isn’t stable with even a -5mV undervolt and it’s brand new. Any amount of degradation would kill it within the warranty period, most likely, since the margin is so thin.
>>
>>109807620
>the rainbow smear look that matte coatings have is pretty disgusting from up close
can you show a picture of what you mean? on a glossy qdoled I got insane light reflections chromatic aberration/color vibration/rainbow oil spill type looks from just looking at a completely solid color red/green/blue, It's not from the panel itself, it was from the plasticy coating, I believe that in part is what gave me eye strain, not the subpixel arragenment

compare that to the Samsung 32" 4k qdoled with the matte, it does not have that rainbow abstraction level color when you looked at it from angles up close, like the picture appeared more solid color, like a normie lcd, and it was way less eye straining too

I don't think all qdoled monitors uses the same panel coatings, can't be? atleast I don't think so, atleast Philips coating behaved liked that

like, you are trying to look at a solid color full screen, but you can't focus on it AND it gives eye strain, because the color is shattering to all different colors in the coating, very strange shit

something had to be wrong with that coating, and It did not have a protective peel on

If that's really true, your card would be unstable in an environment that's 10C hotter.

>>109807900
I’m not saying that you’re wrong and you sound like you may know more than I do. However, I’m not sure there’s anything I can do about the issues with Adrenaline if you’re correct. that only makes it more unlikely that 5mv less voltage would cause problems. i'd put money on adrenaline being buggy and causing instability than anon's silicon crashing from just 5mv less voltage
>>
>>109807959

>>109807882

>>
>>109807982
the GPU can't magically "detect" that the voltage is too low, there's a fixed offset programmed by the firmware where clock stretching occurs
and many RDNA3 cards shipped with negative margin, you would have to underclock them or increase the voltage beyond stock to stabilize them
wouldn't be surprised at all if AMD of all companies shipped a GPU with only 5mV margin
>>
>>109807931
maybe try to DDU your drivers and undervolt again, or try undervolting in a clean windows install or linux distro and see if the -5mv undervolt causes crashes. if the behavior is consistent, then you're right in that your silicon is at the edge of stability and cannot be undervolted

Only play VR. Have a 6600 AMD. Tree fiddy dollars. Can sell my 6600 AMD on
Ebay
for a hundred and eighty. Could then buy a 9060 XT.
Wait for Black Friday sales, or upgrade now?
Will have maybe five hundred by Black Friday, and about several hundred while selling my 6600 AMD.
>>
>>109808656
Save and buy 9070 then flash into XT
>>
>>109808684
Just watched a year old video about flashing an XT bios onto a 9070. I'm not a brainlet...but this is getting closer to surgery. I'm not a doctor.
Probably just going to wait until Black Friday...then buy whatever AMD GPU to my maximum spending limit.
Maybe I'll find a more recent video. How do I flash without open computer surgery? Is there software?
>>
>>109808739
If you're playing VR, you should absolutely not go for an AMD GPU.
Steam frame is 2160x2160 per eye, for a total rendering of 9.33 million pixels.
4K is only 8.3 Million pixels.

The 9070XT is not a 4K card, and FSR still sucks and has limited supported. DLSS is really your only option there. It sucks, but there are some applications where AMD is just not suitable, and VR is one of them.
>>
>>109808765
Not trying to have too long a conversation...but vibe coders, and Meta conformers are releasing remakes...and spiritual successor sloppa for years. An AMD with fixed, perimeter foveated rendering dips toes into the UEVR flatscreen games...while completely rendering the rest of the games.

shitter here, need a new cpu (+mobo) for poe+wow. Everywhere says the 98503xd is the play but the benches say there are 6 or 7 better Intel cards. That's useless in reality right, just get the amd?

Have 11700K+3080 on 64gb of ddr4 atm so I'm guessing I gotta get ddr5 for the newgen mobos too
>>
>>109809005

you dont really need more then that unless your current cpu/mobo is dying

just get a 5800x3d and b550 motherboard. Reuse your ddr4 ram going to am5 right now is not worth it at all.

Legit meta question
Do people consider it "bad" when things are available freely?
I bought some components recently I was waiting to be released and it was so fucking refreshing to not have to wait the femtosecond it was released to fight bots, or wait for month long restocks that disappear instantly or give into scalpers, etc.

It was as easy as just going to a shop on day if release and press buy.

It's something you hardly see anymore.
>>
>>109809114
idk what the fuck you're on about lil bro
>>
>>109809114
availability at MSRP isnt something bad. Bots and scalpers can go to hell. If anything sucks it's the release date itself. I've seen some stuff from ASUS being 'released' just to take months to actually show up in stores here.
>>
>>109809005
wait for zen 6 cpus that launch with 12 core ccds in q1 2027
you get something from selling the old ram and you only need 32gb of ddr5 which gives you better perf in games
>>
>>109809103
for poe/wow i think a x3d cpu is the best way to go, and the 5800x3d is more than enough to max out the 3080.

you either queue up on release day and get one or get lucky online or wait for the restock and pay the scalper price (from stores) or you wait just a bit when they dip to MSRP then you buy, then they will go up 200% in value again

I live close to the store, so I could do that.
My play is that I can get a 6090 or something and then sell my 5080 (Which I got for below MSRP) whilst the 60s are out of stock and make a pretty big portion of my money back.

Do you need 64 GBs of RAM? Because 32 GB's would keep the cost of a comparable DDR5 system pretty close to that of a high end AM4 one. Assuming that you're selling off your LGA1200 set I could see the AM5 system do well in a $/frame analysis.

>>109809061
>am5 right now is not worth it at all.
5800x3d is the best cpu on AM4 in its niche but it's not good value for money. A $100 7500F on a $80 B850 with $200 16GB of ram is a whole AM5 upgrade kit for a system that's competetive with a 5800x3d system at the cost of a little over the MSRP of the AM4 chip.

If the drive itself did not come with its own heatsink it's probably fine either way if you're not using it for something intensive. Like for daily usage, gaming and such it will be fine. Nothing will happen. If it works, it works. Only thing that may do damage over time is thermal expansion-contraction cycles. The more rapid temp change, the worse. One way to slightly slow down the wear is better passive cooling on RAM.

>>109811788
I'd personally choose the MSI unify-x for it's 1 dimm per channel ram slots for maximum OC but that's just me
>>
>>109811788
You could set up an RMA with MSI to see if they can replace the entire CPU socket, but it will cost you a servicing fee (around $100 + shipping).
They suggest you choose a shipping option with tracking + insurance, which will cost you around $60~80. Expect the entire ordeal to cost you around a month.
Discounted Unify-X like the other guy suggested is nice, but it's an XOC focused board & doesn't have a display output port (must use dGPU).
