>>109854377i have ep321 for few weeks and i really like it. Build quality and stuff included in box is typical binary accoustic dogshit tier but sound is really nice. For me, at least, that amount of bass works really well; it suits both tracks that are lighter in the low end and those that are more powerful. As for the treble, it leans towards the brighter side, but I feel the bass balances it nicely, preventing it from sounding too harsh. At least to my ears, there aren't any major resonances. However, MEMS drivers have a somewhat distinctive sound; I compared these with the Dunu DK3001BD, and despite very similar measurements, the treble performance was very different for my ears. As for vocals they are not that close to u vs vocal centric sets. Not bad but sometimes when u know that singer pulls some wild shit because u heard it more midrange focused sets it lacks bit of that wow factor. That wow factor is pushed more towards top end.I haven't heard the Blessing 3s, but I get the impression that the bass might be an issue—specifically, that there simply wouldn't be enough of it to balance out the treble.Im also using planar overears with bass on lighter side and there I cant stand as much high end as with ep321.Bought it for 210usd, i think its really good set at that price but for msrp it bit worse, build quality could be much better (faceplate is fingerprint magnet, lots of bubbles in resin, visible 3d printing lines, plastic hardware on cable, small choice of eartips)
>>109850888anon you have to be iredeemably stupid to buy the Zero Red except for that cool faceplate. That thing has no soundstage, poor techs, needs a good DAC, and above all else that tuning is horrendous. I would know, CrinACKle scammed me 50 bucks for that piece of shit.

>>109855396i think ep321 are good choice then. I really enjoy its sound but my take on it- its neutral bright. I was looking on graphs for few minutes and just by them I will say that blessing 3 would be probably too thin on lower end for that amount of high end, I will say its bright sound and i really need just bit more bass for it too call it neutral bright. DK3001 BD was more like U shape sound signature, but I had constant problems with seal so that sub bass boost wasnt there and shit was just too bright. I also tried few over ear chinkfiman planars and there u just fighting with all sorts of resonances on high end. Im staying away from any kind of bright sound signature in overears.Judging by graphs with stuff Ive had I would really enjoy blessing 3 Aqua instead of normal one. Normal one really reminds me that stock chinkfiman planar sound.

His $50 Mele probably isn't giving him the separation he's already expecting on its own and EQ won't fix that either. A better driver is needed, which sounds like he already knows this. Your EQ "fix" makes too many assumptions about all the audio he will be throwing at the IEM to be considered an actual fix
>>109862152U shape is not the same thing as midbass dip.>EQ won't fix thatIt will.
>>109862159>U shape is not the same thing as midbass dip.U-shape is distinct from V-shaped as it includes a dip in the midbass. This is what separates if from a V-shaped tuning.

>>109862166It's a glide style of tuning instead of dip style. The difference from V is where the rise starts.
>please refrain from giving anons farcical information>the problem he's mainly running into is lack of resolution
>>109862174If you say so. 100-300Hz is the area that splits the difference as that is where bloat either exists because of v-shaped tuning or doesn't because of a dip in that region.

Gotta figure out some DIY fix for this fucking garbage...
>>109862351>I literally did in my first reply to him.u right, u right. I misread that part. the point is that you're presenting the midbass dip as though it's the thing that solves the separation problem, when at most it's one way of reducing low mid masking and changing perceived separation. it doesn't add resolution, improve imaging or improve the driver's ability to resolve and layer dense information.if the Mele's congestion is primarily tonal masking, EQ only helps to an extent. if anon is looking for a technical upgrade over the Mele, that's a different problem, and “you need a midbass dip” is too categorical an answer to it.
>>109862381>it doesn't add resolution, improve imaging or improve the driver's ability to resolve and layer dense information. It does.
>>109862390increased audibility from reduced masking is not increased resolving capability.
>>109862393It is.
>>109862402if you're calling an increase in perceived detail “more resolution,” that's fine as a perceptual description. but it's not the same thing as a technical upgrade to the IEM, which is what anon was asking for.since you can't move past conflation, you'll just have to agree to disagree on what constitutes a technical upgrade. we're clearly using “resolution” differently at this point. anon needs an EA500LM and not your "midbass tuck=technicalities boost" theory
>>109862428It is the same thing as a technical upgrade. When you EQ hd600 to hd800 it has the same techs as hd800. Why would vastly superior IEM drivers be any different. EA500LM has never been famous for its techs, why even bring it up.

>>109868100THD is very much relevant with even thousand dollar products clipping from bass. $20 IEMs are endgame precisely because they solved THD.
>>109868114a THD graph doesn't prove that “the Porta Pro is physically incapable of subbass.” a headphone can have a perfectly measurable 20 Hz response while having ugly THD down there. those are separate properties.and low THD isn't the same thing as overall technical performance, either. a cheap IEM can have extremely low distortion while still having mediocre technical performance in other areas.>$20 IEMs are endgame precisely because they solved THD.is an especially silly extrapolation. clean THD only solves one measurable aspect of driver performance and doesn't magically eliminate every other limitation affecting technical performance.
>>109868150Clanker ass post, learn to read graphs and where the harmonics in the THD come from.
>talk about bass distortion>brings up techs Mental illness.
>>109868155knew you'd cave. I know what the harmonics are. that's not what I said. if you're saying the driver literally cannot reproduce 20–40 Hz, show the FR measurement. if you're saying it can't reproduce it cleanly at a particular SPL without excessive distortion, then the THD graph is relevant to that different claim.you're constantly arguing against something I didn't say, then accuse people of replying with a clanker, which is your default when you run out of talking points. >>109868227NoNoYes
>>109868150>a headphone can have a perfectly measurable 20 Hz response while having ugly THD down there. Not really.
>>109868300not really? a driver can produce a 20 Hz fundamental while simultaneously generating massive 40/60/80 Hz harmonics. that's literally what high THD means. the 20 Hz fundamental doesn't cease to exist because the distortion is high.if you're saying the Porta Pro can't produce 20 Hz at a sufficiently high SPL with acceptably low distortion, that's a completely different claim, and THD is absolutely relevant to that.“physically incapable of subbass” is not the same statement. I hate to say it, but you're falling flat on your face with this one
>>109867806Why did you buy that pos (mk3)...
>>109868331>while simultaneously generating massive 40/60/80 Hz harmonicsGenerating from what.
>>109868339where the harmonics originate? from the nonlinear behavior of the driver when it's being driven by the 20 Hz fundamental. that's exactly what THD is measuring.
>>109868355What happens to the fundamental when harmonics get generated.
>>109868364it stays there. as you get near the driver's limits, the fundamental can compress or stop increasing proportionally while THD rises. that's a maximum clean output limitation, not “the driver is physically incapable of reproducing subbass.” that's the distinction I've been making this entire time.wait are you having a meltdown, a discussion or are you replying to a clanker??make up your fucking mind lmao
>>109868378Where does the energy to generate harmonics come from if the fundamental stays there? Calm down, I'll get you through this step by step.
>>109868390from the same input energy. nonlinearities redistribute some of the driver's output energy into harmonic parts. they don't need the fundamental to disappear.so yes, the fundamental can stay while energy is also there in the harmonics. that's literally what nonlinear distortion is.
>>109868413What happens to the FR when you redistribute energy from one part to another.
>>109868425the FR can change but that still doesn't mean the fundamental disappears.
>>109868446So >a headphone can have a perfectly measurable 20 Hz response while having ugly THD down thereis false.
>>109868460no, you're not following. you gotta be trolling if that's your conclusion after sperging about reading skills.
>>109868460are you saying the 20 Hz fundamental literally disappears when THD rises? if so, say that explicitly
>>10986848420Hz gets converted into harmonics, yes. The FR shows this.
Btw "there's still 20Hz in the FR" is not argument, it will be there even when the driver isn't playing anything, from the noise floor.
>>109868498yes, some energy gets redistributed into harmonics. the fundamental doesn't just cease to exist. that's literally how THD works. and FR doesn't show “20 Hz getting converted”, THD does.
>>109868509obviously. we're talking about a measurable 20 Hz fundamental above the noise floor, not the fucking noise floor itself. you're arguing against a point nobody made again.
>>109868511>and FR doesn't show “20 Hz getting convertedThe change in the FR does.
>>109868526the FR changing shows the fundamental's level changed. it doesn't show that the 20 Hz energy “became harmonics.” that's what the THD spectrum is for. you're conflating two different things
>>109868542What does the level of a frequency represent.
>>109868553amplitude? 20 Hz level on an FR graph is the amplitude of the 20 Hz fundamental in the measured output.if that drops, it means less 20 Hz fundamental output. it doesn't tell you that the missing energy became harmonics.. you would need the harmonic measurements to show that.
>>109860908https://eqbyear.com/
>>109868519That example was just to show that just because it's in the FR doesn't mean it's real. This driver didn't become more efficient 40Hz, it's just this measurement method summed the harmonics with the fundamental. A sweep would resolve this correctly.
got the topping dx1 mk2just asking a dumb question to reassure myself.can't I use a TOSLINK to USB and plug that into my PC and use the USB C to power it instead of just plugging a USB C to USB C into my PC?
>>109868573What determines the amplitude.
>>109868602you already know
>>109868599You can. It's a common way to the noisy PC USB problem.
>>109868620*to solve
>>109868594yes, if the measurement method is summing harmonics into the displayed level, that's a measurement method issue. that still doesn't tell us that the 20–40 Hz fundamental has been “converted into harmonics.” you'd need a harmonic resolved measurement to show what the fundamental and harmonics are really doing.
>>109868627The change in the FR is enough to tell that harmonics have been converted. Other measurements will just break down the composition of the harmonics.
Look, no argument is gonna change the fact that if you play 20Hz on porta pros you won't feel the rumble but gonna hear a loud brap instead. Whether there's technically some 20Hz playing is irrelevant.
>>109868638no, a change in FR tells you the measured level of the fundamental changed. it doesn't tell you that the fundamental was “converted into harmonics.”that's exactly what harmonic measurements are for.. separating the fundamental from the harmonic components and then quantifying them. FR by itself doesn't establish the cause of the fundamental's level change.so THD is irrelevant for most things, or it is relevant? come to a conclusion already
>>109868654The cause is always conversion. They don't spawn from thin air. If they appeared without the FR changing now that would be surprising.
>>109868651So>"it's physically incapable of subbass”is false.
>>109868659If it's not doing the purpose of subbass is it really capable of subbass?
>>109868657>"harmonics were generated”>“the fundamental was converted into harmonics.” are not the same thing
>>109868665define "capable of subbass"
>>109868672>feel the rumble
