So, are people still building PCs? I assume prices won't be much better when the new stuff releases next year, but my current PC with 2019 parts struggle to run new AAA games, not that there are many worth playing anyways.

What is the scope of potential damage here?
How can I prevent damage outside the PC? Are there PC stands or cases that will catch any leaks instead of having leaks pool on my desk/floor?

How many total fl oz of liquid are in these things?

>radeon gpus are for retarded people
>btw you can buy these cheap second hand njudea cards at just 1.7x the MSRP right now
>>
>>109853519
Yeah, because modern hardware can be impressive.
Getting low FPS on any new build is a skill issue. You're supposed to build your PCs to play older games, at higher resolutions, and higher refresh rates, with more stable 1% lows and better consistency.

If you buy AAA slop you deserve sub60 FPS and DLSS blurring and LOD pop-in and all the UE5 trash.

Buying NVIDIA is actually retarded, AMD is not only more affordable but it is actually superior. NVIDIA is sold entirely because of DLSS slop which has zero impact on good games. If you play good games, you don't need DLSS. Then AMD's superior raster rendering performing comes into play, and they give you double the VRAM for the same price.

A lot of people are building PCs and low-mid range builds are still affordable. 4K 144Hz has never been so affordable.
Just play older games and be happy.

This would make sense. I bought and returned 6 monitors I bought all from online because there was always something wrong with it but the one I bought from a shop is the one I kept. In my country nice PC hardware doesn't really exist in shops so online is the way to go and it is slightly cheaper as well. Can't buy anything nice really from shops in my country unless you drive to say Germany.

Got a sweet deal in one of those 10th anniversary 5800x3D, it's going to be such a huge upgrade over my ancient 3600. One thing though, I still only use a Hyper 212 and I am guessing it's not going to be quite enough for the new CPU, should I upgrade? and if so is there a more potent heatsink that won't set me back too much?

just use an usb port directly connected to the CPU and if you're really paranoid one of those fancy expensive snake oil usb cables. There are professional sound cards but they aren't necessarily better depending on how your additional PCIe sockets are connected to the CPU
>>
>>109856570
They do this by using ASIO drivers in Windows which bypass a lot of the Windows audio stack. That covers one situation where you'd want low latency, in audio production and music, but it doesn't cover gayming. Even on Linux, ALSA and pipewire treat USB audio devices as "batch" devices which adds a substantial amount of buffer overhead by default. And yes, tuning for low latency audio really makes a difference in games and once you hear the difference you can never go back.

I fell for the 4k monitor meme and thought I could never go back. Suffering with 50-60fps on newer games with my 3080 blasting the fans full max power.

Now just for fun I've connected my old Dell 1920x1080 monitor and to my surprise it doesn't look much worse. Text is still quite clear. It's almost like Switch 2 quality but on a bigger screen but not bad at all. And now I could play all modern games in 144fps + raytracing probably. Too bad that old shitty monitor is 60hz only. But now I'm for the 1440p OLED market.. gonna check some out.

i have an msi a850gl psu that came with a native 16 pin pcie (12v2x6) gpu cable but i think it's damaged because my gpu fails occt 3d adaptive tests on heavy/extreme but passes/gets different results if i disconnect/reconnect or bend the cable around. i also found damage on the tiny four wires on top under the tape holding the braided loom around the whole cable, like something sharp got pressed into it slicing a bit of the wire insulation (no exposed wire though)

can i just replace it with a corsair 12v2x6 to 2x 8 pin cable? or would the pcie slots on the psu not provide enough power?

12VHPWR side is standardized but not the 8pin side If you damaged the correct sensing pins the power draw is limited so it may explain why you cant fully utilize it. I dont know if Corsair has the same 8pin connectors as MSI does and I wouldn't risk it. It doesn't make much of a difference if you use multiple 8pins to a single 12VHPWR other than maybe coil whine but this depends on the PSU and GPU.

DisplayPort and HDMI are cuck.
You shouldn't rush to do anything.
Instead, just get a passive DP to HDMI adapter and use your shit that way.

DisplayPort outputs can be converted to HDMI outputs.
You can't do the same in reverse, if your monitor has DisplayPort, it can't take in an HDMI output. You can get fucky active complicated (expensive) adaptors to do middle-man shit to get around this, but it's not worth the trouble.

How can anyone recommend anything other than 2160p as a standard resolution since 2016? Seriously, it is like putting glasses on. Coupled with MSAA, you literally see more in a game, Celeste standing in the distance waving to you? You can see her expressions.

In my opinion jumping from 1080p for gaming (work monitor is 1440) it should be the new 1080p. 5K should be the new 1440p. 8K should be the new 4K.

why are 5060 16gb so expensive? Should I just get a 5070? I have a 5600x cpu and play at 1080p

you should get a 9070

Don't forget that 5K is almost 3 times the pixels of 4K, it's gonna be a doozy to drive.

6k at 27" feels like a "good enough" meta. 255PPI at 27", 126 ish PPI on dual mode (4K at 32" is 137ppi).

compare the 9070 to the ti not the 5070
>>
>>109859797
what is the point? the 5070 is 20 bux more expensive than the 9070xt here. the 9070 itself is only 10% slower than the 9070xt while the 5070 is about 20 to 30% slower than a 5070ti by comparison.

1440p 500hz is an upgrade for eSports sloppers
And if the game doesn't hit that high might as well go 4k 240
Esportsslopers just upgraded to 1440p from 1080p
I guess some arena shooters will still be on 1080p 1000hz because that's better than visibility I guess

Pretty much game dependant again what you want

>>109859726
>5K is almost 3 times the pixels of 4K
Ur math bro
It's almost double 4k but safe to say it's gonna rape fps yeah
>>
>>109859797
>>109859809
also look at the lows on both gpus (esp on the 5600x)
>>
>>109859180
well this is a massive and widespread problem it's not like ONLY ONE obsolete generation of old graphics cards used chiplets
>>
>>109859397
gunball gamers only care about fps so 4K is out for them 1440p cope is all that remains
>>

DP to HDMI can plug into a passive HDMI-DVI adapter.
>>
>>109859917
Sounds like a waste when I can just buy a dvid to display port already. Right now I just have my second monitor on the integrated graphics lel. I'm still just doing monitor research. I'll have my main on DP later and then secondary on the hdmi

>The video frames the 7900 XTX’s problems as a combination of innovative but fragile chiplet packaging + mechanical stress on large, heavy PCBs. The technician presents this as an inherent design limitation rather than isolated manufacturing defects, explaining why a noticeable number of these cards are failing years after release.
The writing is on the wall. Chiplet gpus are made to fail since their die and package sizes are massive unlike cpus. You only have yourself to blame if you buy a $1000 chiplet gpu and see it fail within 3 years from normal use
>>
>>109860303
looks like a problem that can be fixed. new cpus aren't monolithic so why should the gpu be?
>>
>>109860312
there's no incentive for companies to fix a problem that only starts surfacing after the warranty has expired
>>
>>109860321
most cars have warranties that only last three years...
same goes for cpus...
same goes for gpus...
same goes for motherboards... (the most likely part to fail)
are you some sort of retard?
>>
>>109860344
gpus are warrantied for 2 years as standard. some countries get 3 years of warranty but those are exceptions.
you're the naive young boy for thinking companies will spend r&d on improving the durability of their products
>>
>>109860354
>chiplet gpu is cheaper to make for the company increasing margins
>nobody wants the chiplet gpu because they fail
>ok invest some money to make them more reliable (prob just some cheap bracket and cooler redesign) while still keeping the margins good
???? it still works in the framework for the jewish companies.
>>
>>109860365
>oh no oh shit the new arson connector catches fire
>quick make some shitty cables
>quick make some shitty "sensor" cables

>>
>>109860365
>nobody wants the chiplet gpu because they fail
that's giving gaymers too much credit
the melting connector has been with us for nearly 5 years now anon
>>
>>109860381
the chance of a connector melting (on most high end gpus) vs a perceived design defect that nukes every gpu (low and high end) after x amount of heat cycles
both of those would be perceived very differently by the average gamer if they start seeing how last gens gpus start dropping like flies after "only" three years of someone playing games on them
the connector either burns or doesn't + it has a human factor
it can burn today or in five years
>>
>>109860406
its not a human factor, its an rng factor of how well your psu cables were constructed and how well they mate with your gpu's connector depending on random tolerances on both ends
>>
>>109860414
>gpu cable tugs a bit on the connector
>it puts stress one side more than the other

Any more buzzwords to share?
>>
>>109860426
12v-2x6 connectors already removed the factor of human error of the 12vhpwr
99% of cables that burn today appear to be fully seated from the outside
>>
>>109860524
14th gen is pretty efficient if you limit it to 5.1ghz and 1.1v vcore
>>
>>109860538
Can you turn off the industrial cooler and 2000W PSU, I can't hear you.
Yeah and the fire extinguisher and loud popup that 14th gen crashes that game.
Thanks.

I looked at the specs, and unless there is something really obvious I'm missing here with this monitor, this a $2-300 less model that has all the features of other top end models?
