Getting low FPS on any new build is a skill issue. You're supposed to build your PCs to play older games, at higher resolutions, and higher refresh rates, with more stable 1% lows and better consistency.

If you buy AAA slop you deserve sub60 FPS and DLSS blurring and LOD pop-in and all the UE5 trash.

Buying NVIDIA is actually retarded, AMD is not only more affordable but it is actually superior. NVIDIA is sold entirely because of DLSS slop which has zero impact on good games. If you play good games, you don't need DLSS. Then AMD's superior raster rendering performing comes into play, and they give you double the VRAM for the same price.

A lot of people are building PCs and low-mid range builds are still affordable. 4K 144Hz has never been so affordable.
Just play older games and be happy.

I fell for the 4k monitor meme and thought I could never go back. Suffering with 50-60fps on newer games with my 3080 blasting the fans full max power.

Now just for fun I've connected my old Dell 1920x1080 monitor and to my surprise it doesn't look much worse. Text is still quite clear. It's almost like Switch 2 quality but on a bigger screen but not bad at all. And now I could play all modern games in 144fps + raytracing probably. Too bad that old shitty monitor is 60hz only. But now I'm for the 1440p OLED market.. gonna check some out.

It's a bit high I guess, my 7950X3D "idles" (as in lots of shit in the background, browser open, streaming video playing) in the low 50s and it hits the mid 60s while in a game usually. Still I wouldn't worry about it if load temps are fine, 60s temperature isn't something to worry about at all, only problem is if it gets way hotter than that when actually doing something.

i have an msi a850gl psu that came with a native 16 pin pcie (12v2x6) gpu cable but i think it's damaged because my gpu fails occt 3d adaptive tests on heavy/extreme but passes/gets different results if i disconnect/reconnect or bend the cable around. i also found damage on the tiny four wires on top under the tape holding the braided loom around the whole cable, like something sharp got pressed into it slicing a bit of the wire insulation (no exposed wire though)

can i just replace it with a corsair 12v2x6 to 2x 8 pin cable? or would the pcie slots on the psu not provide enough power?

12VHPWR side is standardized but not the 8pin side If you damaged the correct sensing pins the power draw is limited so it may explain why you cant fully utilize it. I dont know if Corsair has the same 8pin connectors as MSI does and I wouldn't risk it. It doesn't make much of a difference if you use multiple 8pins to a single 12VHPWR other than maybe coil whine but this depends on the PSU and GPU.

Instead, just get a passive DP to HDMI adapter and use your shit that way.

DisplayPort outputs can be converted to HDMI outputs.
You can't do the same in reverse, if your monitor has DisplayPort, it can't take in an HDMI output. You can get fucky active complicated (expensive) adaptors to do middle-man shit to get around this, but it's not worth the trouble.
