There is no such thing as a non profit company, running servers is not somehing done for free, and if you think there are cases where it is, you're naive because they're just using a different way of generating money that is more secretive.

they send nothing back, on any protocol version.
i had to manually insert IP/host pairs into my hosts file just to use another datacenter.
there is no incident report or anything like it on cloudflare's side. it's been going on for a good 3 or 4 days.

For hiding the IP get a few VPS accounts and proxy to your origin. Keep a few nodes out of DNS as standby's and have a few nodes dedicated to .onion end-points.
