I want vllm, ubuntu, goose, and SmolLM3-3B

Then I'm gonna do a software neuromorphic emulation of a STDP network to wrap the SmolLM3-3B and have two cards each running the a.i. agents and wrapper, so I can get two a.i.s that can conversate in a virtual machine of the same OS, Ubuntu.

That way I can put guardrails on the A.is so they don't delete special files or configure the system that bricks the card or worst, the solid state drive.

If it works, I would have the first consumer grade autonomous pc. Which would be pretty cool.

I'm incredibly skinny but if you sit on these chairs for 6-8 hours a day the fabric starts stretching and the synthetic leather eventually tears and flakes off. Also the build quality is usually horrible and they have other problems, one of the chairs I bought had a metal rod that broke off on the right side of the backrest and collapsed it after 8 months. The last chair had the padding compress and the metal backbone started digging into my back after a year.

The bubble won't pop, but every big lab is working on developing its own accelerators. There is a long queue or smaller labs (and Chinar) waiting for their turn to buy Nvidia GPUs, and Nvidia never increased production enough to create a crash even most if the big labs turn their back to it, but if their OpenAI, Anthropic and some other get their own TPU equivalent, it might still ease up the demand for Nvidia hardware. Unless big labs see it as a competitive advantage that their competitors cannot get the hardware they need, which would cause them to continue buying all of it.

On an unrelated note, in 2023 I built a workstation around it having two 4090 GPUs. I just bought one because it was like $3k and waiting a bit would help me getting the second one cheaper. The only shops that still sell the one I want now have it for $14k. Any day now.

This year was straight awful for my PC building

>270k plus had a defective IMC. Only first two dimm slots
>3080 has a slightly longer pcie or something. Had to use a riser cable
>my first ddr5 kit was stolen by someone jacking my package in February
>bought a "new" sata ssd from Best Buy that's already crapping out (diagnostic tools say it's good)

And then I bought ram and sold a stick (didn't use the right dimms originally, thought only one was working) and bought more again later (finally worked). FML. I should just sell my PC and go to console next gen

I did solve em all (that could be solved). The drive is definitely questionable. The IMC is a CPU defect. There were no bent pins on the socket and the CPU was pristine. The mounting hardware was also on properly and so was my aio cooler and both were adjusted multiple times.

No dice. That fucking blows. I really need to scrap this build or sell the parts. I wanted local AI and two dimm slots only is ass

So I bought the Noctua AIO, cause once I heard one exists and that it's supposedly really good, my horniness level for that thing shot through the roof. Yes I'm a Noctua fag, and I'm like the 1% out there who genuinely like their colors, so I don't give a shit about any black edition dogshit.

That being said, I was using arctic LF III 420 and of course replaced it with the 420 Noctua thing + additional VRM fan.

For 300 billion monetary units, I feel like it's not worth it. I tweaked it to have the same RPM as my old AIO, pump was running roughly the same (though the Noctua one can run a lot faster, but at high speeds it gives off a very annoying hum. On quiet and balanced you wont hear it, dont sperg out you autists).

Yes it runs around 2-3 degrees cooler (though that is after replacing 2 year old paste with PTM), yes the whole thing is a bit quieter, but arctic is not known for low noise. But in hindsight, I wouldn't have paid that amount of money for it. I'll keep it inside, because I'm way too fucking lazy and having a replacement AIO with 4 years of warranty left just in case might be good.

tl;dr: if you already have an arctic LF III AIO inside or sperg out about brown colors, don't replace it, unless you are fully autistic about the noise and a couple degrees.

honestly, just watch some office chair / ergonomic chair reviews. Many of them will tell you that these secret lab / gaming chairs are absolute ass, compared to just a regular ergonomic office chair.

I've bitten the bullet on a HM (embody gaming). It's not gonna make fireworks fly out of your ass or make you feel like you're in heaven, but all the many options to adjust and overall comfyness, long warranty and quality can't be beat. Do I think it's worth 1-1500 bucks? Probably not. Is it one of the absolute best choices out there ever and thus can simply ask for the price premium, just like Noctua fans? Yes. There's really only 2-3 manufacturers of premium office chairs that are worth checking out and dishing so much money into.

If you really wanna be cheap, buy a refurbished one or a 2nd hand one that's not been used for 1-2 years. Or some office closure sale.

The 4k benchmark image posted here was using performance upscaling so I'm not talking about gaming at native 4k but the popularity of 4k displays. Hdmi 2.1 is a common gaming buzzword right now.

No that was GPU driven and Nvidia shat on consumers to focus on enterprise equipment, but it was phase one of the plan to get people to migrate to consoles, this time it is memory and GPUs and the price points are exceptionally restrictive, they are forcing people to the cloud based subscriptions, and this isn't going to get better, it's designed to get worse especially if you have any intentions of having a local AI which they are desperately trying to stop because that is why they have secured investments for the datacenters, but trimmed down AI is now within people's reach and the hardware is being used to keep them out.

I'm considering moving the RAM and one SSD to my server PC and selling the rest. My server has an RTX 3060 12GB (enough for the rare game I play these days) and I have a DGX Spark for AI.

But it's not that big of a deal. Anyone building a PC was budgeting about $300-400 for RAM anyway. It's just now you get less of it. Close some chrome tabs or something, you're just not going to see a difference in gaming between having 128GB and 32GB.

Maybe you're right. There's good reason to not own something like that, but the catch is that you already own it. If I truly doesn't give you joy then dump it on somebody who can use it for ai without a second thought. Money is good and if you need to eat that 4090 could possibly feed you through a multi0le of means but selling it would be the easiest and most profitable in the short term.

Last year I was gifted what looks to be an excellent case for my new home server/NAS build. I have a handful of SATA 8TB white label WD/HGST drives I picked up over the past few years, around 4-6 of them or so. The question however is apparently this case has a faster and more performant SAS capable backplane
>Internal backplane supports 12-port SAS / SATA drives and features 12 Gb/s Mini-SAS HD SFF-8643 connectors along with SGPIO compatibility
and I've not worked with SAS before. I'm pretty sure that my SATA drives should not be a problem in and of themselves, but I wonder if its worth it to procure some SAS drives too. I know the backplane supports SAS, but do I also need to buy an expansion card / PCI-E if my motherboard does not offer onboard SAS ports (which I am guessing most consumer boards do not support native)? Can SATA and SAS coexist on this backplane or does it basically push everything down to SATA speed or otherwise only partially/incompatible?

Wish we had a crystal ball to know the answer on price trends. I really don't use it anymore, it sits sleeping for all but maybe 4 hours a month. The only reason I didn't sell already is it keeps gaining value instead of losing it as it gets older. I don't need the money, but I want max value while I can get it.

Last I checked, I can get an entire RTX 5070 Ti prebuilt for what just the 4090 is worth on eBay, so it's starting to feel silly to sit on it. And I figure if I really want more gaming power just in case, I can swap the server's RTX 3060 for a 5070 (I want the low idle power).

My hobby is cars, this isn't remotely true. Everything I was watching and considering buying doubled in price from late 2025 to today.

>But, sure. If your hobby is cars, $5K a year is pretty standard.
That's a crazy amount of money to budget. My most expensive car to maintain is a hand-built Italian, and it needed a once-in-a-decade major service last year. That required transporting it out of state and leaving it with a specialist for two weeks. That was a $5k bill. Other years are much cheaper, unless you're counting insurance in your calculation. The cost of owning that car averages to maybe $1k/year even if you include the $5k bill. Even the more expensive cars I've considered, such as McLarens, are sub-$5k/yr for annual maintenance.

This is a good point. Even if I don't use it, I suppose the value should at least maintain going into next year.

Thanks for the help, I needed a second opinion sanity check. I think I'm going to harvest the RAM and non-OS SSD for my server and sell off everything but the RTX 4090 for now. It can sit in its box on a shelf until either I decide I need it again, or prices start to finally dip and I sell.

your best value gpu with current inflated prices is 5070
am5 system price is a bit inflated from the ddr5 pricing, so instead of paying 100€ for 32gb ram its 400€
nvmes are somewhat overpriced too so some people settle for 1tb cheapo drives and upgrade later

so am5 mobo, 32gb ddr5, maybe zen 6 cpu if you wait till 2027, 7800x3d otherwise = 850€
5070 gpu 750€
750-850w atx 3.1 psu = 120€

>>109933643
in previous gens DLSS just utterly raped and gaped amd
all AAA games supported upscaling outside of japan
FSR 2 image quality was literal garbage, so you either buy nvidia and get the correct end result or you "save money" buying amd and get 5 years of shit graphics or play at native at 50% worse fps than nvidia at equivalent image quality.

So, 90% nvidia marketshare
9070 xt finally fixed upscaling, and amd marketshare got better

because i already own a 7900xtx

seems like some of the b650 and b650m is out of production now, so grab one before they sell out if you want to be able to use wifi and bluetooth on win 10

Out of curiocity, what's so special about wifi and bluetooth on B650 which is not present on B850?
>>
>>109933743
wifi 6 vs wifi 7, they refused to make drivers for wifi 7 on win 10

Being slightly cheaper than Nvidia isn't really worthwhile in the days of DLSS and raytracing.
Being a bit slower or a bit jankier with drivers is one thing. Missing features is a whole different thing.

>Nvidia launches record $150bn share buyback
>Nvidia is now authorised to spend up to $235bn on share buybacks before January 2028.

jfc jensen is making so much money they can do this shit. That stock value is going to rise even more. This shit is ridiculous. The prices will never go down.

Should I buy the wire view pro II Noctua edition?
It's going to be a long winter in the gpu world and I'm wondering if I should get the extra protection for my ever increasing investment

Yes

Any recommendations on a 27 inch or less 4k monitor? I'm looking to move on from a 27inch 1440p one that feels too large for its resolution.
>>
Things are dire in the market, and I just really want a GPU upgrade from my 3060 Ti since I just finally bought a 1440p monitor.
How bad of a pickup is grabbing a used 12GB 3080 for $300? Only other real option is a new 5070 for $1000~

i don't feel sorry for novideo goym
>>
>>109934618
it might be worth it if you can tolerate the risks
reselling old gpu and so on

a 5070 is inflated that high? If it was around 750 it might be worth buying
>>
>>109934632
Yeah, 5070s have gotten super inflated recently. I opted for buying the mobo + CPU for a new build first, and that was clearly a mistake on my end.
>>
>>109934618
At $300, there's nothing that comes close to that
>>
>>109926273
Ummm, now what?
>>
>>109934772
wait for memory crisis to end
sub to geforce now

My b850 box says wifi7 im sure it did. Nah, wifi 6e lol

I've got 2x48gb 5600 ddr sodimms. Thinking about selling them for my new build, but I would probably only get 64GB due to the price. Feels pretty painful. They make those sodimm to dimm adapters, but they seem kind of jank. What would you do?
>>
>>109934610 (me)
Also my pricepoint is less than $600
>>

>5070 for $1000
Why not a 5070 Ti for about $100 more?
>>
>>109934772
They'll add a small 40mm fan and call it the palit gamerocker occ edition that goes for $1500

>>109934772
Now if your card breaks SCAN will give you a similar but slightly 5070Ti.

Manufacturers tend to discontinue more expensive production lines in order to optimise more lucrative ones.

There are dozens of models in stock even on Newegg.
