I'm a normalnigger when it comes to this shit and have been screwing around with setting up my home server and also getting into joining trackers at the same time.My current setup is using truenas with mirrored 18TB drives that i set up a year ago to host all of my files and media across my network using jellyfin and navidrome.I know people will recommend a seed box but I would prefer everything local. Does it make sense to have a physically separate machine dedicated to torrents or is that retarded if I already have a home server machine? Should I just keep my torrented files on a separate drive, use linked files, or just link them directly to jellyfin and navidrome? I'm trying to think of best practices. Initially I was thinking of having a separate machine but that feels overkill and pointless, then i thought of keeping them on separate datasets just to keep the torrented file and my own personal file for changing / modifying tags and stuff, but now with storage being so expensive and especially if I plan on getting into 4k rips and stuff having duplicate files feels dumb as well.

Or you could just throw it all in on your current pool or get another smaller spinnin drive(s) to be your torrent pool that you transfer files to your storage pool after downloading. You could probably move them to your 18 tb storage pool after and keep seeding them through symlinks yes.
