Is buying a 4K of 5K SDR monitor worth the savings over just going for one with a Mini LED backlight?
>>
>>110045252
>update firmware

>>
>>110045517
If the savings are significant, sure.
You should turn off local dimming for most miniLED monitors when in SDR mode.
That’s kind if a deal breaker imo.
>>
I wanted to put my old RAM sticks in a secondary PC I got, bringing it to 32gb (I have 2, 2x8 kits) both kits are 2400mhz and either works individually, but when I use all 4 sticks, it doesn't post, just cycles endlessly.
Is it ogre?
MoBo is an Asus B360 gaming 3 Wifi with an Intel I5 8400, if that matters.

I'll leave it at 16gb for now, but I'm annoyed having to just leave that extra kit in a drawer.

>>110045565
SDR 5K starts at $600-$700, $1200 for Mini LED.
SDR 4K is $300-$350 typically, save for dim models at $220 that once appeared. The Mini LEDs like the E16M start at $380, with retail models typically at $450.

If those sticks can't even run @ JEDEC, it might be due to a weak memory controller.
Forget about XMP working on all four modules.
Your board can handle 4x DIMMs per their QVL.

slightly OT so apologies but I feel like this is one of the few active breads on /g/
I need a decent quality winblows 16" laptop for the parental units. I would prefer removable storage for when prices come down (if ever). Does anyone have a suggestion? In general I don't want complaints and I don't want to be tech support... so something with ok to good build quality: no flexy keebs, dont get super hot doing basic web browsing and youtube and whatever old people do on computers, etc.

Yeah it doesn't make sense. Micron is using the production capacity they have to address the most profitable part of the market... which is their responsibility. What do people think, that Micron can keep a large portion of their fab capacity churning out consumer grade RAM and SSDs? The major shareholders and owners would immediately oust the CEO and bring in anyone that isn't leaving billions of dollars on the table.

Micron is also building additional capacity which takes a ton of time.

Stupid suggestion but try blowing out/clearing the RAM slot. The RAM works, but you tested each on the first two slots which never saw dust (unless you had another 4 modules before obv). Also see if your motherboard has an "odd dram ratio" setting or disable XMP/clock it at 2166.

Back here again. I returned my 64gb of ram since it was 4 sticks of 16gb and more than 2 sticks of ram is a bad idea with ddr5 apparently. Though I found a decent deal on 48gb (2x24gb) for $640, theyre 6000mhz with a CL28, a tad better than the 64gb ones (6000 and CL30).

I'm now undecided if I want to keep my 5070ti and get a 5080 or just stick with it. I have a 32 inch 1440p and I'm unsure if I'd upgrade to a 4k anytime soon. Ontop of that I wonder if the 5070ti will be fine. I tend to not play the latest AAA anyways and often play games a couple years older on sale

Also the Ultra7 270k is about $30 cheaper than the 265K i bought so I'm swapping those out for sure.

Well so far Gigabyte hasn't said anything about it being canned so it'd still wait through Q4, what surprises me though is that Morele (a popular e-tailer here) reports that the LG 5K Mini LED is a best seller, units sold by the dozens on their listing despite the price going up to $1100-$1200 from the low of $900, which I fear is the price hikes we were warned of in effect.

It is possible though this best selling is also a mirage, high-end monitors on Polish e-tailer sites are heavily purchased by B2B buyers using company invoices which means a business can instantly deduct the 23% VAT and lower their income tax, which effectively drops a PLN 4,300 price tag down into the low PLN 3,000s. And LG is the only option on the market right now, so Mac users could also be part of the picture.

OLED monitors is the fastest growing PC display segment.

Apple has favored Mini-LED (branded as Liquid Retina XDR) for larger screens like the MacBook Pro and higher-end iPads because it delivers distinct advantages for professional workloads over current OLED limitations.
>Higher Sustained Brightness: Mini-LED panels can maintain much higher peak and full-screen brightness levels (often 1,000 to 1,600+ nits) for extended periods, making them ideal for outdoor use and HDR video grading.
>No Burn-In Risk: Professional Mac users frequently keep static user interfaces, toolbars, and timelines open on their screens for many hours at a time. Mini-LED (an LCD variant with thousands of local dimming zones) avoids the permanent image retention and burn-in risks inherent to organic self-emissive OLED pixels.
>Cost and Supply Chain Maturity: Scaling large, high-resolution OLED panels for laptops and XDR displays has historically been more expensive and complex to source in massive volumes compared to refining mature Mini-LED backlighting technology.

i7-4970 32GB DDR3 1080TI 11GB, DVD RW, 4x 1TB SSD 1x 1TB MSATA (motherboard has the slot so why the fuck not).

Both run beautiflly cool.

Because people are extremely retarded.
Even low income normies are buying TVs priced in the thousands, they socialize spending thousands every year and pay a shitload of money for cars without even noticing it.
People just see a four figure price tag on something that wasn't so large before and then stupidly think only millionaires can afford the great expense of a few grand.
Completely ignoring they just blew the same amount of money on excess calories during the last 6 months and didn't even notice it.
People are just really fucking stupid and completely out of touch with their spending habits.

No they fuck around with stupid large PNGs while getting work via literally sucking dick or being related to someone. 'Creatives' are a sea of retards and a usless operational overhead. HTML is not engineering and neither was destop publishing or graphics artist. Made up jobs for made up people with low IQs and big egos and an air of desperation..'Creatives' try and earn money doing what more intelligent people call hobbies, actually live by poor plagarism and have been a cancer clinging to tech since the 2000s. Literal gay parasites and nepotism clinging to the amoral vegables that work in marketing and use phrases like 'cloud enabled', 'digital marketing' and 'brand'. Shit froma sewer pipe. iWatch wearers.
