the aw3418dw. it's an older 3440x1440 120hz ips ultrawide which I still absolutely love.
actually i was almost ready to replace it finally not long ago, I was really anticipating the AW3926QW: oled, 5k2k res, 39" ultrawide, rgb stripe for better text clarity, 165hz, extremely good price.. but i managed to talk myself into waiting yet another generation by hyperfixating on oled's seemingly unfixable downsides and some initial bad early impressions I read (which i honestly highly suspect was astroturfing by LG), despite the fact that it would undoubtedly be a huge upgrade to my current setup.

well that and some of the benchmarks I saw for games running at that resolution even with a 5090 and dlss made me kind of leery too

https://www.club386.com/intel-nova-lake-gaming-performance-arrow-lake-leak/
>Intel’s forthcoming Nova Lake CPUs are “quite similar” to the company’s existing Arrow Lake chips when it comes to gaming performance, according to often-reliable tech leaker kopite7kimi. The exception will be Intel’s ‘BFC’ processors, which are said to come with a big last level cache (bLLC), similar to the 3D V-Cache in AMD’s X3D CPUs. In a post on X, kopite7kimi described BFC as a way to “try to save the gaming performance of NVL,”
Isn't NVL both a new socket, AND new uarch, AND AND a die-shrink over ARL? If gaming perf without BFC is equal to ARL that would imply Intel hit a brickwall with latency and IPC improvements for overall ST perf like AMD did with Zen 5. I don't kniw if I believe this as that would mean something went very wrong.

WD-40's formula is a trade secret.[15] The original copy of the formula was moved to a secure bank vault in San Diego in 2018.[16] To avoid disclosing its composition, the product was not patented in 1953, and the window of opportunity for patenting it has long since closed.[10]
It's fish oil.

If you read the core counts of these CPUs, Intel clearly doesn't give a fuck about designing "gaming processors".
It's just workstation CPUs with "gaming" marketing line tagged on for the BLC tile.
They e-core design team has been doing better than p-cores since Meteor Lake.
Their priority is designing CPU cores for servers & laptops (with low power e-core island).

Desktop consumers get whatever scrap they cut up, gamers are not a high priority segment.
>'But most boxed CPU sales are ordered for GAYMEN PCs!'
That's true, but boxed CPU revenue isn't Intel's main bread winner, high volume enterprise OEMs & data center contracts are.

Buy AMD Ryzens if you want the best gaming CPUs, because it's easier for AMD to segment their CCDs into reasonable "gaming" core counts.
The way Intel set up the tile layout clearly shows they're not prioritizing gaming performance.

>>110058251

Can't you rotate the monitor into portrait mode top have the pages fill the screen or adjust the manga image scaling to do the same?
>>
>>110059640
you dont really want to scale the image as you want the whole image to be visible one at a time, like how its presented in physical format

You can turn it portrait, but it can feel precarious. Oleds are thin, it makes worrying noises when you touch it slightly

Umm I'll be able to play some at ultra 1440p if my GPU allows it without the am4 build holding it back, right? Let's say a 5070 or 5060ti (16gb)

If you don't use the montior for spreadsheets all day, an OLED's perfect contrast, viewing angles, colors, and instant pixel response times will be vastly more pleasing for image quality than any LCD even at 4K can deliver.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D682HF6R?language=en_US

There are cheaper models around $320-330 but they use a lower binned QD-OLED panel that tops out at 200 nits SDR & ~400 nits HDR max respectively vs. the full brightness panels at 250 nits SDR / 1000 nits HDR max starting @ $350 like so:
https://www.newegg.com/asrock-pgo27qsa-w-27-qhd-240hz-qd-oled-white/p/N82E16824028027?item=N82E16824028027

MiniLED needs to be 5K or under $300 to cut it against cheap OLEDs in late 2026+ IMO.

you could get 9070 xt at mildly over msrp prices if you just want better gaming perf, but nvidia is the more exciting purchase with dlss5 and mfg and all and there only 5070 is somewhat tolerable buy

am5 x3d system is great now, but ddr5 costs 400€ for 32gb

if you want a good gpu the good times might not be around the corner very soon, most people are better off buying a 5070 now at slightly elevated prices

Then unless you have a lot of expendable income it'd feel bad to buy ram at current prices, and since ur intel you cant easily upgrade to an x3d cpu and keep the ddr4. No good options rly.

-i just finished Big Walk earlier today with my 70 year old mom. absolutely perfect "friendslop" game to keep up with non-gamer friends or family which i'm always on the lookout for
-otherwise recently i just got as far into Blue Prince as i'm willing to get without looking things up which means i'm done with the game i suppose because there's no real point after that
-also just dug up my old Factorio space age save from an old drive that i was fairly close to finishing and was kind of planning on painfully getting back into and finally beat the game (inspired mostly by randomly being recommended a Factorio youtuber and watching a few of his videos) but i heard there's an imminent big update so i put that on hold
-so actually next up is i just downloaded Mina the Hollower to give that a go instead. i don't know much about the game except it got good reviews and at least visually looks like Link's Awakening which is my 2nd favorite zelda so i'd been meaning to give it a go but kind of forgot about it while waiting for the inevitable new game patches to stop coming in, but they have by now.
-and of course the weekly Starcraft 2 co-op mutation at the very least and usually a few games here and there throughout the week but I don't play it as much as I used to.
-most (only?) anticipated future new game is the Satisfactory DLC they announced recently but that won't be til next year. i guess Haunted Chocolatier might be on the short list but it's still probably years away and I didn't really like Moonlighter so

I do recommend a solid sit/stand desk if you can afford it.

I built my own sit/stand desk with "Lander" legs from iMover, a desktop from some thrift store furniture, and some cheap cable management stuff years ago, not as fancy but saved a lot of shekels. Liked it so much I built another with a bamboo top from Ikea for my girl, cost for both of them was close to what you are looking to pay for that single desk, and I got the steelcase chair in the pic I posted from a used office supply place for a couple of hundred ameribucks.

At higher resolutions you're going to be GPU bound rather than CPU bound, that means your graphics card will be the main bottleneck rather than the CPU, so yes, you can play with ultra settings at 1440p, even at 4K if your GPU is powerful enough.
However if your goal is to get 240+ FPS at 1080p then you do need a better CPU.
