Compsci is a second major now. You need to pair it with something else to get a job. Pair it with business, finance, one of the sciences, engineering, agriculture, pre-med, or something else that targets a specific type of computer work as opposed to general programming. Compsci fields that require more hands-on work such as networking and HPC are still relatively safe, but its still important to broaden your expertise outside of pure code.

I just realized these are the highlights of my day:
>Wake up after refreshing >= 8 hours of sleep
>Morning coffee and breakfast
>Lunch at some restaurant
>Gym after work
>Evening sauna at home
Then otherwise everything else feels like a fucking chore. I'm trying to watch the chain smoker cat anime and it just feels like a chore. I guess I've conditioned my brain to like work and nothing else.
>>
one of those days where you sleep until 11 a.m. and then you open up your laptop and see you have a bunch of slack notifications.
you go through two of them and they are nothing burgers.
then somehow all the important notifications are missed and you don't see those ones until 2pm then nobody responds to you. kek

Honestly, though my workplace isn't as luxurious as Microsoft, this is basically my schedule. Without the Pepsi, soda is bad for you.
>>
>>110196428
Microsoft's offices in the US are actually much less luxurious than their Indian offices. Except for some drinks, nothing is free. Food in the cafeteria is priced well, but it's not a great bargain anymore. They don't have gyms in the buildings. Some of the offices have ping pong and stuff, but not many anymore. The tables I saw were always being hogged by the Asians.
The exception is the Silicon Valley office. Down there, they have to give out free stuff to compete for workers.

Am i a luddite, a retard, or just coping? Because vibecoders are literally insufferable. They call out "ego" but they literally have the audacity to call out swes as obselete when they can't even differentiate good from bad, they keep inflating the value of their "ideas", but in fact if they believe in ai so much then why can't they conclude that ai could come up with better ideas? They keep talking about how you will be left behind as if prompting claude is some wicked sorcery that everybody should waste their money on. They claim that coding is now easy, but they keep bragging about what they did with claude, WHAT'S THE POINT IF YOU THINK THAT IT'S NOW SO EASY?? WHY ARE THEY WASTING THEIR MONEY PROMPTING RATHER THAN SAVING UP FOR THE INEVITABLE AI TRANSITION ??

looking for genuine explanation, am i missing something? Or are people actually making money selling software that can easily be copied with the next frontier model, but much better and at a lower price?

At this point you need to be comfortable building something from scratch, by yourself, with no outside help.

If you're capable of this you might be considered by corporations for a job doing deployment automation for a couple years until you burn out, not from the technical work (because they'll hardly give you any) but from all the administrative bullshit.

Consider becoming a vtuber.

I had the Bison Tri tip steak with shallot gravy and parmesan roasted potatoes.... and it was delicious! And I ate it with METAL utensils.
The shallot gravy was by far the star of the show, it gave the entire dish a delicious rich savory taste. The bison was cooked to a perfect medium rare, but it had a very mild taste that was a mixture of beef and... fish? I've never had bison before so I'm not sure if that's normal. I prefer BEEF steaks but this was still good. The potatoes were nice and creamy on the inside with the parmesan giving a luscious exterior crunch. It also came with a pear salad which was ok (not actually a salad made of pears, just a regular salad with pear chunks thrown in).

Excess males are not problematic, moron, you have the entire US government scared of Chinese strength, a posterboy of gender imbalance. India doesn't have a proper welfare state, so unemployment is very bad for social cohesion

It's renting but with highly leveraged exposure to the local real estate market. It's just retarded.

I pay 2.5k/mo for a single bedroom apartment that's like 650 sqft and I use maybe 200 of it.
>>
>>110200793
Townhouses are HOAs with more shit to maintain which is why i brought it up. I'd rather go with a regular HOA since i don't have to maintain the road inside of the location too. Besides i bought a house without one since i can DIY 90% of the work anyways.
>>
>>110200729
muh ameritard pipe dream

We owned a house for like 10 years, shit doesn't last for ever. You're still gonna have to deal with asshole noisy neighbors that are gonna be up in your shit cause they're bored and want to start drama neighborhood drama
>>
>>110200800
I moved to a small company in a small town. I actually enjoy going to work and pay $1.2k for that apartment and I could pay half that if I were willing to tolerate a 15 minute commute instead of a two minute one.

I own a house and have owned a house for a long time you stupid niggers, what part don't you understand of this? I also grew up in a house that my parents owned, and have rented houses every where in my life except for 7 years of undergrad and grad. I will never go back to an apartment. Maybe don't live in a horrible neighborhood, I don't interact with my neighbors at all. Why are you so intent on forcing people into your commie block apartments?

I have tried this. It is very cheap but it only really works if you're remote.
>>
>>110200917
I really can't imagine having to go into work even if they had a shower it would be a pain in the ass to walk to the laundromat weekly, keeping your clothes clean and having to leave somewhere innawoods daily.
>>
>>110200873
not to mention you will stick out low a sore thumb if you try to camp anywhere vaguely urban and get robbed and stabbed by the real homeless. or maybe just robbed. maybe they would even give you drugs in return out of pity or a street sense of justice or recompense. the moment you b start doing the drugs to offset the pain of the cold is the moment you start fitting in. you dont need all this expensive shit.
if youre going to do this you basically have to do it on your own land and it has to be "just for fun", realistically.

Discovered one of our Indian "developers" had two major configuration bugs that made it to production.

The production json has broken nesting so there's no fucking way it's being used. She decided to do the configuration code from scratch instead of using our templates and depending on where in a terminal you run the code determines where it looks for appsettings.

This begs the question of how the fuck production is even running correctly, but then I realized she modified the code so that when the code can't find a proper configuration it defaults to production values.

I decided to fix the portion of the code so at the very least we're checking for configuration files where the application resides and was scolded for not allowing the third party jeet center figure it out. It's been two weeks and we need this shit done by next week.

I'm so fucking tired bros.

What's the one person you hate at work? Tell me about them.
For me it's my ex-boss, we probably have some bad blood since I moved but whenever we're on shared projects (team I'm now on still has some relation to my previous team) together now, he'll keep repeating the exact same thing i said during a meeting back to the group (and I'll be a bit like what the fuck bro). He'll also try to overstep and control or take handle of things when it's outside his scope/role as some sort of power play or something. I just let him do it because I'm still burnt from him and do like "whatever do whatever the fuck you want" but it drives me a little nuts. I already brought it up to my new boss and they're just told me to leave it.

Another is a bitch who just treats everything as catastrophic and needs an answer right away. One time she kept calling me when I was green and went like "oh you're green so you should be available, call me ASAP" and from then on I just set myself as red all the fucking damn time and I already told my new boss about it and he just chuckled and said that was a good idea lol.

>>
>>110202466
I've already got an account. In fact, I've made several over the years because they keep getting banned. These things are disposable. What would make them less disposable is the ID verification Australia is attempting to roll out. In that case, every two-bit cyber criminal is about to get a crash course on identity theft. We're about to enter an era where you'll be v& because somebody posted cheese pizza using your driver's license. You handed your driver's license over to have some booze delivered a couple of years ago, and now you find yourself being delivered to an interrogation room. ID based age verification is a scheme where absolutely nothing can go wrong, and where innocent people can not be hurt.

Anyway, what was I saying? Oh yeah, Reddit sucks.

Issue is could be politics up higher and you're helping the enemy, or internal competitor, or your boss could just be pissed you've been lazy and are working on someone else's project instead of your own assigned work.

Also, could be related to tracking work effort/proving work was done/justifying additional resources.
If you don't play politics/aren't in the loop, make sure your manager knows/approves first next time.

Wrapping up my first day at a new job after being unemployed since April

It's incredible how quickly the shift from being stressed out over being unemployed and having no money for rent/food transitions into stress over being employed and fighting imposter syndrome and feeling overwhelmed

>it's not a good idea to work on anything your manager didn't tell you to work on unless you got approval first
Depends on the company, I followed this and almost got fired
Started reworking major things on a whim without approvals, then my reviews switching to exceeding expectations.

I am the most productive that I have ever been and am the most skilled at system design, etc. that I have ever been.
At the same time, my technical skills are getting terrible.

Typing this while I have a Opus/Sonnet/Haiku mega-swarm working through 30 tickets for me
I'm more of a software engineering manager overseeing AI agents than a software engineer now
>>
>>110206192
You're going to be unemployable in approximately 2 years.
>>
>>110205796
>25k LoC hitting production every day amongst 3 developers.
What the fuck do you even do? Even very, very complex tasks that require huge refactorings don't take more than a few thousend LoC. Somehow I get the feeling that I'm being lied to.

>>110194422
I dont respect tech workers that dress like a goddamn banana republic mannequin, such a quick tell they fucking suck
>>
>>110206304
each PR adds the same unit test written slightly differently 5 times
>>
>>110206227
Maybe, but if I wasn't using AI, I'd be unemployable right fucking now
Might as well milk it while it lasts
>>
>>110194422
so this is just an indian general, right
>>
>>110206227
Why?
>>
>>110201316
this, those ugly 55 year old asian women are thirsty and need your hard earned dollars
>>
>>110206503
because ai agents will be able to manage themselves.. i thought this was obvious?
>>
>>110206304
It's a simple form filling application with some AI sprinkled on it. I'm not even joking. The average here is 5-8k LoC per day per person. A lot of it is unit tests but that's still code that guides an agent and needs to be mentally comprehended at some point.
>>
>>110206525
And why would that make me unemployable?
My current company isn't going to fire me and I have a feeling that we aren't going to see companies fire 99% of software engineers over the next 2 years
>>
>>110206590
Because you won't be able to do anything better than AI can do at a much cheaper rate. They won't fire 99%, just 90-95%.

Just look at where AI was 2 years ago compared to now. Then realize it's making itself better and at a faster rate. This will become a runaway snowball effect.
>>
>>110206503
Because you're just a meat proxy. There is nothing unique that you do in this work arrangement that someone else can't do. There is no workable situation where not thinking will result in a good outcome in the long term.

As a side point; I bet if I were to actually quiz you on system design that you would fall flat almost immediately. It's all the same with this fake smart guy competence that you get with AI. Sorry you got scammed!

anon... they were making up to millions for 0-click 0days, now they are fucked. the current status of things will make 0day exploits much cheaper.

my ex boss. retards was totally servile and destroyed the team before he got fired, even though he pretended to "help us"
>>
>>110206641
I disagree, the broad brush strokes that "You think you are good but you're actually bad!" isn't very compelling

but everyone is bad but me?

submitting a ticket to IT is like:

Any IT troon want to explain themselves why this piece of shit seems to be required on every corporate machine at any company I've ever worked at?
Unironically reduces the performance of any machine, no matter how powerful, to a 2008 Acer Aspire netbook with 2GB RAM

you're a cuck and your coworker mogs you and gets the job done, your boss sees you bawling your eyes out running to him to get him to stop it and doesn't give a fuck because

a) you're gay
and
b) your coworker just gets the job done and doesn't make it your bosses problem

they just want results and they want you to work things out amongst yourselves

who is the first person you go to when you have a problem with someone?

the person you have the problem with

this is how all managers think. they don't want to know about your problems. they want you to just do your job so they can take the credit and get their bonus and pay bump and hit KPIs
