Duronaut and MX-7 should be good enough for most people.
Get Duronaut if you prefer to use a paste spreader, MX-7 just needs the cross application (draw X and let the cooler mounting pressure handle the rest).

>what should I use to clean off the thermal paste on my CPU after removing the heat sink?
You can use disposable lens wipes if you have them.
Arctic sells MX Cleaning Wipes, but they leave behind a very strong odor.
They updated the formula following customer feedback, dispose the used wipes to your outdoor trash bin asap.
Noctua also sells disposable wipes, but they're pricier.

Do not draw X. A pea sized dot in the middle is the best way to spread evenly and avoid bubbles. Any other shape produces either airpockets, oozes onto the mainboard, or both.

That cache keeps your data fresh in CPU time instead of it getting lost in dram refresh cycles. Makes a huge difference for sound quality more than DACs.

it's kind of insane but I actually think the pc parts prices are going to crash overnight next week
because trump literally destroyed the US with his AI policy, we have people vibecoding the entire adobe suite and full games that play into browsers now, the US is the country that loses the most with that because the US companies are the ones that sell digital services to the rest of the world, how did they not notice that was going to happen?
when he loses the house and the senate they will force him to halt the AI expansion and censor AI models to save those companies but it might be too late already due to how close the chinese are with their models
something is going to happen with regards to AI starting next week and it will have a bearish tone to it, some slowing down needs to happen
and that means relief for the consumers

it's enough that the democrats dont want to bail out AI companies if things go south to make investors reconsider but if they pull it off is another question. At least OpenAI missed its target of the current funding round so they might run sooner out of money than previously expected.

i owned a corsair case i quite liked too, T700 i think, but when i built my giga-rig, upgrading to a antec flux pro was an insane improvement. Its all the little things that the technology in case-building has incorporated over the years that you don't really notice until you're building in one.

The audio-muffling, the superior quality case fans that are absurdly quiet, the better cable management in the back, the better integrated rbg management and usb socket shit. Its just superior, every ~8 years its worth upgrading from even a top-tier case alone.

Picking up a B850E, R7 9850, and 32GB of DDR5 from Microcenter tomorrow. These will be standby parts to upgrade my AM4 desktop when it finally shits the bed. I want to pick up a 9070 XT to round out the rebuild. What's the market projection? I wouldn't consider buying around the holidays a few years ago, but I don't know if the prices will go back down after the new year anymore.

I am tired of searching and waiting. I spent 1 year looking and searching. for the perfect monitor. Deciding IPS or OLED or MiniLED or VA. What resolution. Is dual mode worth it? What about burn in? Maybe the next miniled will be better. Maybe the next oled will be better. Maybe pulsar monitors will be better. Maybe I should get a TV. Maybe I should get a bigger desk. Maybe I should buy nothing. What size should it be. I know now. The perfect monitor does not exist. I waited and waited for RGB Stripe only for it to have poor uniformity, green tint shift, panel lottery and low brightness and more reflections than mirrors. The OP says just wait a few more months bro this time we'll fix it bro. Samsung Display is laughing. LG Display is laughing. They make two panels, both with massive pros and cons. They make one tiny improvement each year hike the prices and then repeat the cycle. Now they say next year monitor prices are all going up because we live in hell and this industry is cursed. I am buying this one. I will definitely have buyers remorse. I will definitely wonder if I should have waited. I will definitely be mad when the prices drop. I don't care any more. I'm so tired.

I wanted to upgrade my pc over the next months or so and need a new CPU and a new Motherboard + PSU
I was thinking of getting the Ryzen 7 5700X since its pretty afordable
I heard its aging though and i dont want to go trhough the trouble of buildiong a pc only to throw out most of the pices later on again
I heard there are better cpus out there from Intel but i dont know much about them
I just bought 2x16gb DDR4 ram sticks so i need a CPU/Motherboard that supports DDR4 and not 5
Im not sure what Motherboard to pick up though
I dont know much about this sort of stuff i asked Chatgpt and it recomended the Ryzen 5700x and an MSI B550M PRO-VDH WIFI Motherboard
Are these good options?
Overall evetything would cost around 300 Euros together witha new case
Im planning on buying the stuff next month and then also upgrade my gtx1060 grapcis card
I also need an SSD because load times are terrible for most games i play
>>
>>110218682
AMD's DDR4 stuff is pretty overpriced, but if you're locked into it, you've not got a whole lot of choice, yeah.

Intel's newer 250K and 270K offer way better price:performance than AMD right now, but require DDR5.

14600K is safe to use, and provides better gaming performance than a 12700K.
A stock 14600K doesn’t boost high enough to request dangerous levels of voltage (past 1.5V).

You might as well wait for Zen 6 X3D, the 9800X3D will likely be offered at a lower price by then.

See for yourself.
They tested the 14600K with a DDR5 RAM, but it’s only a 6000MT/s kit.
Intel CPUs scale better with faster memory speeds (preferably 6800 or faster if the CPU IMC can handle it).

I’d say running Intel CPUs on 6000 DDR5 is some prebuilt PC tier garbage setup.

Some are too busy with life responsibilities to keep up with hardware news.
Some are lazy and spend most of their time escaping from reality until it catches up to them.
Some get too complacent with their existing PCs and decide to set aside checking out deals on upgradeable components etc.
A lot of people are ignorant on personal finance and investing to keep up with industry news, or believe in conspiracy theories to miss out on the most profitable stock market bull run in human history.

>>
>>110220890
Intel and Nvidia hide their instability a lot better. They crash the program and word their errors as if it's the application fault. AMD on the other hand doesn't crash out the program the whole PC just crashes and acts funny from disconnecting USBs to audio sounding like it's robotic and stuttery.

>>110220673
I'm this guy >>110217145 and I'll tell you, I held off because upgrading has been unnecessary. My setup is fine for my purposes and has been since I built it in 2019. The problem is that parts age and I assumed there would be some relief as manufacturers shifted into new generations of tech. The problem is that I assumed we'd see a new generation of consumer tech and these dickhead corpos have completely shifted away from normal computer components.

I usually wait three GPU generations to upgrade, but I don't think we'll see a replacement for what we have any time soon. I've resigned myself to snatching up a 9070 XT because it's almost twice as good as my 3070 and will likely be good for 1080p gaming and video editing for the next seven years.

I figured we'd be at AM6 and PCIe 6.0 by next year and now I get to reap the consequences of being a late adopter for the first time since I got fucked by buying a 570 back in 2010. I did it to myself because my PC hasn't been a priority until recently when it became clear that I could be in serious shit for my video editing if a single component failed on me right now.

I have one of these and building it made me hate my life so fucking much.
Trying to find space for all the slack in the power cables (which are sized for an atx build) was horrendous,
and you get to pay extra for the privilege...

Pay special attention when selecting a cpu cooler, this is the critical part you must design your build around.
The noise issue due to turbulence you see in reviews of this thing is FUCKING REAL.
ONLY USE COOLERS WITH THE FAN UNDERNEATH THE HEATSINK, like the noctua NH-L12S.
Noctua is nice because they provide list of motherboard compatibility.
At these motherboard sizes your cpu cooler may collide with the chipset/VRM heatsink.
Your cooler selection will in turn impact what motherboard, cpu (max wattage etc) and even RAM you can use (yes, special low profile ram is a thing in case you didnt know, i ended up using the G.Skill Flare X5 F5-6000)

Everyone is pissed but at the same time waitfags are fucking retarded.
There was multiple years of good pricing, I considered myself a waitfag because I waited for good deals or found a good deal that gave me an excuse to upgrade, but waitfags FOR WHATEVER reason didn't think things where good enough.
At what point are you waiting? Are you waiting for a $20 discount that will never materialize? Are you waiting for things to drop to 20% of their value?

Intel was giving away shit for free, if you went AMD you didn't have to get an extreme motherboard for a 9800x3d, RAM was cheap, SSDs where pretty cheap. GPUs were "high" but there was *something* for every budget.

I used to think waitfagging was just being reasonable but there was endless moments with others throwing pearls at people to get something cheap and waitfags just didn't take it and now everyone who didn't buy is crying about it.

I just don't understand it man.

Does AMD on DDR5 still suffer from long-ass boot times?
I remember waiting forever on reboots when I had an AM4 + DDR4 system, and I tested 3 different CPUs (2200g, 2600, 3700x) and they all had significantly longer boot times than Intel CPUs.

If you're gonna get a mini ITX case, why not get something a little more practical?
>>
>>110223504
Already did. My windows folder got corrupted last week so I just bought a new drive and installed ubuntu on it. Only real problem I've had has been that apparently ubuntu can just randomly decide to stop allowing you to login properly and you basically have to fix your entire desktop environment. My guess is that it had something to do with uninstalling the default file manager.

Still, better than the last time I tried to install linux. Ubuntu had to be booted in some weird safe mode option because otherwise it wouldn't recognize any password as valid. Mint just booted to a black screen after the install. Not even a "no signal" or just a little blinking dash in the corner, just pure black. Pop's package manager was broken on a fresh install and I just gave up on it.

So far the best improvement has been in handbrake having a few QoL improvements and better VP9 encoding, so I save like half of the encode time now.

Nobody used TVs for gaming before OLED
Now as you know OLED saved large format gaming (remember nvidia BFG Displays?)
HDR got introduced and TVs are better for it than displays
TVs are more immersive
TVs have better brightness and pq
Everyone NOT RETARDED, have begun using TVs (oleds) as displays since LG OLED and continue to do so now because mentioned reasons
All your displays are tiny and shit nobody wanna watch that shit

Yeah I haven't owned a TV in forever and saw no point in it either up until recently

"TV" statement is irrelevant as it's just a larger display (with speakers), that's literally it

People did, it just wasn't until OLED that people got over the idea that TVs where unusable with PCs
Alot of is where noticing that with HDMI 2.0 many TVs started to have really low latency and 4:4:4 support.
You could pick up a big ass TV for like $300, much cheaper than a monitor of the same capabilities.

OLED being basically excusive to TVs really broke the outright propaganda people had about TVs versus monitors.

The degradation risk is in the CPU, the motherboard's BIOS with the mitigation microcode doesn't allow the CPU from requesting dangerously high voltages.
The updated board BIOS also defaults to "Intel Default" settings that sets saner maximum power draw compared to the 4096W unlimited power draw profiles.
Try to buy one from someone who kept the product box, with pristine socket pin condition + original socket cover included.
People who had the original intent to resell the board probably took better care of it.
>>
>>110222695

What waitfags were always saying was, don't be a brainwashed consumer. People are not going trip over themselves to tell you when to buy. Good deals means marketwatching in general. 90 % of gam3rs making posts like "should I upgrade" are sitting on a 4070 FOMO'ing, because they have no impulse control drooling at the latest gam3rnexus video.

The other case where you are actually in need, like actually poor or want to enter the gaming or homelab space from nothing. That's a lot different. In which case you should be doing your homework and not get a overpriced RGB gam3rstation 3000 brand new.

All high wattage/high heat AMD and Intel spaceheater builds are pure garbage as are 50 series GPUs and anything that needs a 1000 watt PSU. See you all in two years with your inevitable part failures and tears. If you do an intel 1700 build put an i5 or a T in it based on what is low watt. It will last 20 years and stay under 30 degress if you do it right. So far all 5ghz+ CPUs are as cursed as 50 series cards
>>
>>110227545
I thought this case was sorta ugly in the pictures. I ordered one anyway. Its actually really beautiful in person. Its design is meant to show off the expensive af gpu. I do enjoy being able to view it.

Thats a Y70 case.. its heavily discounted when bought in a pre-built.. the cooling performance on the i9 14900 KF with the 360mm rad in that case is phenomenal. Its runs nice and cool.. its probably the nicest case I've ever owned. Its also the first aio I've ever had. It quiet. It pulls less dust into the case. This PC has made me into an aio convert.
>>
>>110221848

Well if it's all just aesthetics then I guess it's all up what you are willing to pay for taste. You are paying more for less functionality and smaller form.

I will say though that, I do regret not leaning into more niche/extreme parts building computers up over the years. Because what I now realize that as I get interested in homelabbing and other tangential stuff, all those weird parts could have been repurposed later. For example ITX board is great for a suitcase PC. Laptops for home assistant smart solution for home or car etc. EATX or production parts for LLM or other more heavy production stuff. etc ec.

Finally as much as niche parts cost more, the depreciation is also less.

Your work environment is shit, no wonder you're brain damaged.
Enjoy your onset dementia.
>>
>>110227747
Sorry due you are too stupid for me. Go buy yourself a server that takes at minim four volta GPUs and a few xeons and stop wasting your fucking money on crap and recently badly made crap at that.

>Nvidia has a history of half-assing their board designs
And how many RTX 30, 40, & 50 series card end up getting bricked by these so called hot traces?
Always with the histrionics.
>>
>>110227770
I'm not the idiot who's working right next to that server, if you actually use them to begin with.
Get your head checked. You are not doing well. It's a bigger problem if you're hallucinating all this shit.
>>
>>110227764
I am in the top of my home, it lives in a basement, like you. BTW even the i5-144 64GB slow DDR5 and a 3060 12GB does pretty much everything I need aside from heavy large file processing and GPU intensive big data analysis so I have no fucking idea which gay walking simulator you thought was worth making that designed toi fail abomination for. We are not the same

This isn't the insult you think it is. It's a good thing there's only one freak like you.

30 none. 40 has issues depending 50 is cancer and was just nvidia on full idgaf
>>
>>110227811
Crying like this won't change the reality that you couldn't afford any decent RTX GPU.
>>
>>110227779
Every Nvidia generation from the gtx500 to rtx5000 has had some gotcha, with the 2080ti as the exception
>How many
How the fuck should I know? And the amount of cases was never the claim in the first place. Like I said, they have a long history of bad reference PCBs if you have been paying attention
What did happen in recent history is rtx3080 and rtx3090s DYING from running certain software like Amazon New World andhigh powered rtx4000-5000s melting the fuck out of their connectors under load.
>>
>>110227800
If you think using a decade old m1000e or four way nvlink boards is skitzo bullshit boy are you at newb level. DYOR or pay me. Design and build systems for value reliability and effecciency not because some praciung faggots rants about shadows in gay walking msimulators on yoo tube and tells you to build a fairy light fish tank spaceheater designed to fail with shit like 50 series cards in it and CPUs/GPUs you have to be thankful are noit showing degretation or fire risks.

>bad reference PCBs
Except ancient GTX cards wtih reference PCBs are still working @ advertised specs & sold in used markets.

>rtx3080 and rtx3090s DYING from running certain software like Amazon New World
This is a GPU design issue, not a board & VRM component issue, which was rectified with the 3090 Ti & future RTX series releases.

>andhigh powered rtx4000-5000s melting the fuck out of their connectors under load.
This problem is addressed by fixing the cable connection or replacing the cables.
Don't buy high power draw cards if you find them to be too risky. No one's forcing you to buy a 4090 or 5090.

Heres my idle temps of the ibuypower PC with the Lego creeper standing ontop. Its cool as a cucumber.. it probably helps we're avoiding turning the heat this winter. Our house is cold af. Ambient is probably close to 60°f/15.5°

I had to make an image collage as I couldnt get HWmonitor to open up multiple instances at one.

>Design and build systems for value reliability and effecciency
No one is using 12nm Volta cards (2017 release) in 2026 if they value power efficiency.
You can quit larping, don't pretend you're doing something meaningful with your stitched up AI server.
>>
>>110227817
Even my cheapest 4x 32GB V100 board is bettrer than a 5090 in every way I care about my 2x a100 40GBs thrashes it. 5090 is a fucking toy and a badly made one.

Survivorship bias. That obviously happens because all the dead gtx980s with blown memory controllers have zero resale value

I'm in a predicament, do I sell my 5090 for 10 grand and bank like 7k in profit and just play games on piss 5 and switch 2 or keep my 5090 and bypass the profit opportunity.

Sell for 10 grand and buy a 9070xt for $800 to replace it and carry on PC gaming

>>
>>110227923
>seething
whatever.
>>
>>110227927
You should sell the 5090.

There's nothing wrong with the GPU, it's a great card, and I wish I would have bought one.
But, it's just a GPU. There's other cards you can buy for a fraction of the price that will do a good-enough job of playing video games. There's not some life changing difference between a 3080Ti and a 5090.

However, 7K can do a lot, and you're never going to see a return on investment like that again in your life.
If you put $7K into a saving account that gained 6% a year, by the time you retire it would be like $300K.

You won't realistically get an opportunity again in life to randomly get $7K that you can do whatever the fuck you want with, at no cost to yourself.
>>

You mean nvlinked SXM2/3/4 by that do you? Because that is what I am talking about

You do realise you missed out again or is it just hitting you hard rn. Why the fuck do you even think this stuff is unobatium it's not even state of the art. Are you in Russia or something?
>>
>>110228047
Wccftech just said that the planned 5080 24gbs are cancelled again which if true, may let the 3090 stay inflated for quite a while more
>>
>>110227874
Use HWInfo
>>
>>110228108
I think the 5080 super was never real. If it was then it would have been leaked through drivers already. AMD drivers already have rdna5 & steam deck 2 hw flags.
>>
>>110228159
I feel like every "Leak" about the 50-series has been complete bullshit.
>>
The supers did exist but they were planned to be released before memory went crazy so nvidia canned them
>>
>>110228159
Nvidia drivers never leak new GPUs since nobody not even AIBs have working drivers until launch day
The only indicator of upcoming Nvidia GPUs is fromphotos of physical PCBs of which there are none for the 5080 24gb
>>
>>110228224
There should be vbios entries like edid entries leak monitors otherwise how does the driver know what the fuck it's talking to
>>
>>110227927

Sell it next year, it'll be worth 20k.
Next year is going to be so fucking bad as people realize the AI bubble didn't pop and everyone fomos into system upgrades and more long term memory deals are made with companies.
New Zen will launch too making a lot of people upgrade.
It's going to be so fucking bad with hardware prices that if you have a 5090 or any card you want to sell, hold onto it.
>>
>>110228323
AIBs don't have easy access to NVIDIA's pre-launch vBIOS, they need to go through NVIDIA's staging servers that track access history.
It's not at the stage to be sharing vBIOS access when board partners don't even have the reference designs for this SKU.
>>
>>110227592
What if I set a 1.39V voltage limit?
>>
>>110228360
You might as well buy a 14700K if you don't need/want the 14900K to hit the advertised maximum boost clocks.
>>
>>110227558
I saw a Z690 used with a 14700KF and the box label has an RMA sticker on it. I see a lot of broken Z690/Z790 boards second hand, so.
>>
>>110228376
That's my idea. I have a bunch that I can get the 14700K to get similar performance to stock while getting sub-200w power draw under full load by tuning it.
>>
>>110223457
My last bios startup took 18 seconds. I don't feel any problems with it.
In addition, no one forbids you not to turn off your PC, but to put it into sleep mode.

>as people realize the AI bubble didn't pop
kek it has popped and way down we go you either know or you don't Nasdaq is down 6% on the month companies like google and intel are dropping 10-25% and Nvidia is struggling to stay above 200. This is not a sector in a boom, it's a sector that is stuggling and the smart money is leaving before the lid blows off the shit business models, bullshit circular financing and fraud.
