What agent was used to make this thread?

Sent using Codex
>>
I was trying to write up a quick guide (well, the clankers did) based on my experience with codex and claude together and our projects:
https://pastes.io/rD3qJCc8

Feel free to double check and we can start adding onto it as well.
Yes, I'm not using pastebin because that shithole is infested with adds nowadays and it's unuseable, pastes.io was the first google result for alternatives and it seems good enough.

tldr?
>>
>>110221803
@grok write up a tldr, make sure it's non-gendered
>>

Why not use rentry? That seems pretty common on here.

>>
>>110222172
that didn't even cross my mind but that sucks. turkey, right? i used to have a friend from there but he (i assume) died during the 2023 earthquake. or at least he hasn't responded to me since
>>
>>110221831
>>110222172
I didn't even think of rentry for some reason, but honestly whatever's fine, this is just a first draft anyways and we'll probably want it updated as things change (for example, codex is ass now, and I seem to be enjoying antigravity more than I thought I would and getting pretty good results with animations from even gemini 3.8, so.... yeah).
>>

3.67 MB MP4
Added yapping and now I can't decide if I want fittingly low fidelity dialogue sprites or considerably more sloppy looking full resolution ones. The low fidelity really does a good job hiding the image editing slop around their mouths. I will also have to adjust the height of the characters, but that's a seperate step.

>>110221795
List looks good, but I'd more strongly emphasize letting the LLM build tools for you, that let you more easily do the stuff you're most likely better at than the LLM, like building maps, writing dialogue, defining enemy weakpoins, stats and (re)viewing props. That turned out to be a great help.
>>
What happened to /gdg/?
>>
Okay, I guess motionbricks isn't going to be as plugnplay as I'd hoped...

>>110222472
Yeah the clean look is a bit too far from the rest of the game, it's a bit jarring even if I'd otherwise prefer it, idk

>llm build tools for you
Oh you're completely right, I was lazy desu and didn't reread the whole thing after telling it we needed a specific section for it and use all the tools I made as example for the tips section, we should definitely expand on that.

Tho in general I think we could have different pastes/rentries for different things, since some people might only want to use the clankers for specific things, and having everything in a single block would probably be overkill too.
>>
Curious what /aigdg/ thinks about this. It's a text-first visual scripting language designed to make node-based game logic easier to work with. It aims to address some of the common pain points of traditional visual scripting, particularly version control, readability, and collaboration. Feels like an interesting direction, especially as AI-assisted development becomes a bigger part of game dev workflows. Would love to hear your thoughts: https://github.com/lemonator32/wiret
>>
>>110222531
did you try having codex/claude make snapshot frames with the SOMA skeleton on your model instead of the live generated poses?
>>
>>110222771
Nope, and this wasn't even claude, I just got my reset so he's next on the chopping block (and I'm thinking he'll figure that out), astra ultra is taking another jab at it, this was only after telling it 'yo so there's this motionbricks thing, check how easy it is to integrate it to our godot projects, try to use it on this new one' and voila.

This is already far better, not perfect, and I'm not sure I want something so... weighty, I'm not making fucking last of us, but this is still very interesting for a first jab (the wall jump, attacking, and rolling animations aren't touched yet, obviously).

>>
>>110222472
hmm. I think right now you need to add more movement. The sprites are fine-ish but they really stink of slop right now, same with the background. Maybe try a more styilzed artstyle and more animation/fluidity? usually making it look more alive helps here

alright anons. Here is my motionbricks workflow in a nutshell, summarized from claude.

Key-pose animation with MotionBricks

Reference images. Draw or photograph each key pose of the motion, front and side views, 1–1.5 seconds apart.
Key poses. Pose the character’s rig to match each image and set a keyframe per pose in Blender.
Export. Convert the key poses to MotionBricks’ skeleton format (NVIDIA’s SOMA layout, 30 joints). A bone-name map and a rest-pose correction handle rigs that differ.
Generate. MotionBricks fills in natural motion between the keys. It runs locally on an NVIDIA GPU and takes about a minute for a few clips.
Polish. A cleanup pass removes unwanted body sway, keeps the feet planted, and calms chosen parts (head, spine, a limb) while every key pose stays exact.
Import. Bring the finished motion back onto the character’s rig as a Blender action.
Engine. Export the action to the game engine’s clip format, review it in a test scene, then approve it for the game.

The hands are getting their own separate animations to be added afterwards, cause motionbricks doesnt have finger joints. So i gotta figure that out still. the skirt has to be fixed on its own too. I think its pretty good after cleanup from claude
>>
>>110222472
also the writing is good enough but I think it can be improved. Archetypes are fine but the prose itself really reminds me of chatgpt models specifically (it REALLY likes it's curt and short sentences)
Idk what your setup is but usually setting up guidelines for prose that you dictate upfront helps, and building character sheets for the AI to follow for each helps.

Overall tho I like the look, just needs some life

Thanks, I'll look into animating this a bit more. Maybe with a little sway and blinking, maybe even smoother mouth flapping. Will try to go for something less sloppy with the overall look, but I'd prefer to not have it heavily stylized and more general anime. Maybe I'd have to go with Krea2 instead of Anima.

The writing is fairly poor and was done by Claude to test the dialogue system with very little direction. I'm not even sure how I want their characters and how many more people I'll add to the core cast, but I'll keep in mind setting up guidelines and character sheets. Thanks.

Okay, this is obviously subpar from an animation point of view, but I don't actually hate it not feeling like GTA 4 movement anymore, and it still looks miles above what claude could do without it, so maybe this is the way to do it, but it did take a fair amount of time and token to bake it in; I'm also unsure how future proof this is and how easy it'll be to expand this to other animations (especially because I'm planning on having a lamia-like character, so, no legs), I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

>>110223267
I'm going to be honest with you, I rarely spend as much time and energy prompting anymore, since the last few models, they just don't need that much input, claude already knows what motionbricks is or does and he'll go look up whatever he needs to take in before I even think of adding any of this information in.
It's probably a lot more important if you're on 20$ subs though, so maybe I'm just acting spoiled because I don't really care about token usage and your way might be a lot more efficient (but takes more time on your end in exchange).

>>110223609
You mean desaturate the HD portraits. Will try that, thanks.
>>
>>110223781
No, I mean reduce the colors as in quantize them/reducing the color count
It looks like you're trying to go for a more pixel/retro look and if your portraits have a smaller color palette it will help sell that
Think like the PC-98 games (but not nearly that extreme)
>>
>>110223574
I get what you mean. I mostly do the same prompt wise, but if I let opus just run wild, they like to eat tokens on usecase tests that dont really matter. I'm on the $200 claude plan and the $100 codex plan, and I still like to be efficient so I don't run out. Plus I thought it'd be nice to share with other anons who might not know
>>
>>110223808
I See. They looked fairly awful at the 15 bit colour typical for PSX games, which is what I'm going for. Maybe I'll have to use some better dithering to reduce the awful colour banding.
>>
>>110223911
There's a lot of choices for "pixel art" tools out there, I can't give you a specific recommendation because the one I use has a generic name and I can't find it but like I said there's a ton of them out there

>>
>>110224759
That is incredibly rare for me- I think it's happened about 3 times since I started this, and I started with Opus 4.8.

I don't know if it's a skill issue, or if the stuff I'm making just needs iteration. It's a lot of procedural systems on top of one another so I basically always expand the system prompt by prompt. And it's visual and LLMs are terrible with actually understanding images.

The worst vibecode feel is the feel that there's no feedback between when you're doing well and just experiencing the model at the limits of its performance, and when you are just fucking up over and over but it kind of works anyway. It's basically impossible for me to tell how skillfully I'm using Opus anymore after 5.0.

this is the gist of it; figure out what's wrong and figure out a way to explain to clod what's wrong and how he can fix it next time

for my ship generation and the props in it for example, it couldn't figure out (on its own) that props needed a library of coordinates that decides what's 'the front' and what's 'the back' of them, which lead to shelves being facing the walls behind them and then chairs not being next to the desks and whatever

iteration is always king

tell it to decompose whatever pose you're trying to achieve by color coding it like this, then it makes the mannequin in that pose, then it can more easily pull off that pose (with the right proportions too, hopefully)

GPT's imagegen is better at 90% of things than any other model.
But it's cucked as fuck and it'll bother you for stupid shit all the time, not just tits or anything like that but even weapons, it rejected my instruction to draw a sword fighting sheet earlier, because the sword made it 'too violent', so I had to replace it with a stick and that was shit but anyways, so depending on your project, it'll be fine.
If you need violence (guns especially), next best thing is google's models. Not the free 3.5 one, they used to allow free good gens too but they recently nerfed it, so you'll have to shell some shekels if you want good gens.
Then if you need anime titties then it'll be NAI.

The screenshot pretty much sums up my motivations. I'm from Roblox so I prefer these graphics over realistic ones. I would even say most Roblox players do, and there's more Roblox players than there are Steam players, isn't that crazy to think about? That means more people would rather play shitty looking blockman games than AAA realistic graphics. Also yea that's my game in the image, I'm stuck in procedural generation hell, but it's starting to come together.

>>
>>110226188
Who the fuck knows, really.
Supposedly yes, but if the model's great, you often get queued (no matter your sub$), so it's also a pain to use it when it releases.

They also know when to give banked resets, in this case they know everyone's going to want to use them (and right after ((((doubling)))) the quota, to make sure a lot of people jump on the 2-500 subs to use those banked resets), but everyone's going to want to keep them expecting the next model.

>>110226272

>>
>>110227192
For this one; both all at once.
Which is (probably) a mistake since now I have to manually get under that skirt and finish the rest of the body myself (well I got lazy and went up the the thigh and then added a black/shadow texture).

I'm currently trying to figure out the best way to handle clothes with tripo, because I'm not sure what the right way is, I'm thinking I could probably just create both models separately and either the clanker or I would be able to swap out the human bits sticking out of the clothed' model, and we're golden. Or maybe there's a simpler way around this, because I want that specific game to have visible gear switch (so I need a real model underneath and then clothes on top).
Though not for this character, that one's just the notsouls™ waifu.

I think for flowing stuff and skirts like this you're going to have to get your hands a bit dirty no matter what. I think doing one nude/bodysuit and then one with clothes/just clothes might be best, and then chopping off anything covered so it doesn't overlap. For different clothes you'd use the same bodysuit mesh but cut it differently

Lol one of the alternatives I'm working on is exactly that, clod is building a simpler 3d build where everything is modular and snaps.

Another option I've been finding some success is getting image generated reference pics for the environment fed to clod, it builds decent enough based on that and iterate small details until decent

You do realize the llm is nowhere near as good at gamedev as you seem to believe it is do you? Without huge amounts of guidance you will probably end up with a game failing to succeed. Ive only used free tiers to get code/coding knowledge. The art is simply not there atm for me to bother with that. The code on the other hand I am terrified of it deleting important stuff without me noticing and then parts of the game don't work right and I don't notice for weeks. So any code it does show me I just copy or write myself.

you can think outside the box too
>clanker builds a v1, shitty, plenty of shit not where they should be (or you simply tell it 'don't place any of these props and only focus on the paths for player and enemy'
>create level editor with a simple brush system that allows you to mark areas
>gives specific rules based on these brushes/marks
>clanker passes through your marked area and add props to them where you wanted them to be without you needing to spend time rotating them perfectly etc
We should probably build prompts to get the clankers to build these tools based on your game, honestly it's probably very feasible and it would become a simple copy paste to get your perfect map editor going depending on game type and perspective (2D vs 3D etc)

I'm kind of preferring it over gpt for models and animations, yeah.
But it's very expensive, and it's definitely behind opus for most other things.
GPT is still better for textures (especially for small detail textures, like for example drawn on faces for low poly models), argon really couldn't make them look good, while GPT I got to tardwrangle it a bit to get a good result.

It's very much a mixed bag, I'm planning on dropping my 200 codex and going for 20 codex (for textures) and then maybe a 100 google for that (since textures don't consume that many tokens anyways), and keeping my claude 200 for the workhorse stuff.
>>

>codex fgt copied the png instead of the gif
Also, antigravity is.... kinda meh for UX.
Well, it's different, I like how technical it gets in its explanations for what it's doing, while codex you need to run it in CLI to really know what it's doing, but otherwise the file system inside of anti gravity is kinda shit, like it doesn't automatically allow you to open up pictures and files that it's building, you have to go look for it in your explorer like a cretin, this sort of basic shit is still not yet in antigravity, which I find absolutely baffling.

Is there a guide anywhere for getting AAA quality meshes? I know Claude can do it, because its made me a few perfect pieces, but most of the time it gives me back dogshit and I don't know what I do differently.
>>
>>110228288
of what? out of LLMs nah well maybe but you'll burn too many tokens. Tripo is currently the best Img -> 3D but that's another subscription.
>>
>>110228302
and 30 high quality meshes will basically cost you the month's quota without textures and no way to really bake down.
>>
>>110228288
Yeah idk what you smoking bro, but claude doesn't do AAA quality meshes, unless you mean 2000 era AAA meshes.
Well, it can do pretty okay buildings for example, but that's about it.
>>
>>110228311
>no way to really bake down.
This isn't exactly right, the model itself is more than enough, I usually only get the model from tripo, smart UV unwrapping is just one button press in blender, and then most clankers can deal with the textures after that with no issues.

I really don't find tripo that expensive all things considered due to how good the models are, but if you're already running low on money, yeah.
But if you're running low on money, trying to do anything with AAA quality should not be your priority.

Here's what my workflow is:
>codex has complete access to my project, including art_direction.md (most important part)
>tell it (usually astra, but sol high/xhigh is probably good enough desu) about what I want designed and imagegen'd -> iterate on the concepts until I get what I want, pic rel for example
>tell it 'okay gimme a sheet of this character/version with different angles: from the front, from the rear, from the left side and from the right side'
>shoot it into tripo -> smart mesh -> second tab (asking for 4 side pictures, single picture models are fucking trash) -> topology quad (usually better) -> how many polys -> gen
>export as .glb
>grab that .glb and give it to codex 'yo, here's the model, go ahead and apply the texture based on the 2D design we decided for that character'
>voila

no. not unless you want to pay up for another sub until someone releases a proper "smart" topology model that can just generate meshes with okay topo we won't speed this shit up. the textures are the easy part. animation's a mess as well. you can generate mocap style but then you have to do high quality realistic models as well which balloons everything without having a way to just generate meshes on your PC for no credits.

Yeah there's a plugin in codex for it, but you can't connect it to your subscription plan (yet), you need to use api tokens from an organization but supposedly you can just /tripo in codex and get what you want there directly.

i watched a youtube video saying there's some sort of "roblox mafia" and if your game gets too popular they will send you an offer to buy it, and if you refuse to sell they pay compromised roblox employees to randomly terminate your game for no reason and a few weeks later you'll see another game using your source code, because the staff gave it to them.

its a mafia of indians/chinese/etc or something and if they cant own your game theyll terminate it

Opus actually wrote this as a sketch, it said it's going to start layering instruments and making variants of the song so it can loop and be swapped in the game depending on the intensity of the combat

its cool, gives me old beat em up games vibe so if that's what you're aiming for, it did a pretty good job. you need to, at the very least, mix it though, as the gain is all over the place
i've been experimenting with Claude + FL Studio too, and got the workflow down though I need to refine it further plus any in-DAW tweaks are on my side

Claude did mix it after I uploaded it. I'm using Reaper because claude said it's friendlier to LLMs since project files are just text. Yours is pretty cool, definitely a lot more serious than mine. I'm going for sort of an unserious vibe

and it's probably right too, I went with FL Studio purely because that's what I've made music in all my life and desu it's a pain in the ass to work with via LLM. might give reaper a try, good luck anon

How successful are you guys with getting Claude to gen models you want?
I'm trying for a very specific style and it just kind of half-asses everything.
Im using Fable on High effort, as well. Im considering actually teaching myslef how to use Blender at this point.
>>
>>110233548
Find a better 3d model and upload it to Claude, and make models new models off of it. Using reference images helps, too.
>>
>>110233575
I've tried that a few times already, and it will either stray WAY off the reference material, or just flat out refuse, because its a character from an IP that already exists.
>>
>>110233548
Not sure why people keep trying to reinvent the wheel when modeling people.

Human models and topology already exists. It's a solved problem. You'll get faster results generating a mesh with with a 3D model and telling claude to wrap the human mesh around it.
>>
>>110233580
How? Because I straight up take screenshots from other games and it just does it. Or even real life supermodels/singers/actors, when I need face references. Are you sure you're asking it the right way?

Wish I knew.
I gave it references from the character models from Virtua Fighter, and asked it to make male and female models based on them and this was the result.

>>
>>110233611
lol yUUPPP I tried this and man its awful. I cannot for the life of me get ANY AI to make the most basic ass 3d human model. it makes no sense. another thing I tried was having it write a script in blender to try and make a 3d model. its also terrible at that. all the textures look like shit as well its weird how bad it is.
>>
>>110233630
Its kind of weird, because you would think that it would have no issues generating models in this style, because they are low-poly, but I guess it still struggles even at that level.

Idk what to tell you anons, maybe try finding free 3d models of people online, or paying for just one, and then using that as a basis for future models. Upload the model, then ask Claude to make a brand new model of (description, reference image) with the same amount of complexity. This is more or less what I'm doing, plus other things. It does take forever, though, as it's a gradual process, and there's a lot of trial-and-error involved. I do recommend just paying one of those Image-to-3DModel and generating all the stuff you want there.
>>
>>110233657
>>110233657
I've Tripo and its kind of ass as well.
Its better than nothing, since I dont really know how to sculpt or model with 3D software yet but I just might learn how unless by next year Claude gets good enough to actually generate good 3D stuff.
>>
>>110233611
lol, just buy some kind of asset pack for few bucks or pay someone.
Man, u could probably learn blender by yourself in few days, doesnt look like complicated stuff, just search on yt how to make PS1 style models in blender. You can spend probalby less time learning basics than bruteforcing that shit thru ai

why are u retards so resistant to learning something new? Those studies suggesting that AI strips away logical thinking are probably true.

I don't mind buying premade assets.
But it's not reliable.
They either don't look like what I have in mind, or the assets altogether might clashes with each others in style.
I need AI to continue to improve so I can consistently get good results for a small price.

You seem to not know how this works, but astra doesn't cost that much more than sol when it's about sending a stupid prompt to gpt image, all it does is think about what exactly I mean and how to word it, this is a matter of probably 10k tokens, you can't be so poor that seeing 10k tokens (if even that, this is definitely way less since it's just a fucking anime girl) being wasted is triggering you, right?

>>110232846
>>110232891

>>110233941
>>110234622
Keep in mind that the 'asset industry' revolves around bundles.
It's all they do, they don't expect many people to buy these retarded packs, no, instead they hope for daddy unity/epic/humble bundle to offer them an opportunity to get their shit in a bundle and then they'll get a % of that money.
It's a bit silly, and I love how people ignore this but will whine about AI assets kek

>>110228146
Well, I though I could render the body 360 degrees just by adding a bone structure, turns out that only helps creating very minor movements.

Closest I got is asking the clanker to create a default mannequin(the one on the right) based on existing assets but then it still needs to draw the pixels manually instead of automagically using code to figure out what its supposed to look like from a Generated image.

I am probably gonna wait on a better model before I try this again.
Anyone got any suggestions?
>>
>>110235252
From my experience with trying to get the clanker to do animation; it rarely adds onto whatever it's doing.
For example, you tell it 'I want it to walk' and it'll walk, but the waist, the shoulders, the rest of the body will stay stiff as a board

Look at the original one on the left and look how even the chest pixels move and shift when it runs?
Yours doesn't do that, it's stiff, the shoulders try to stay exactly as they are.

Ask it to try to add more constraints to the IK and add some elasticity and momentum that ripples through the connected pieces, or something like that (I'm not an animator)
>>
>>110235252
>>110235406
Also the hair spiking up and down as it runs adds a whole lot to the picture, because it's green and it 'pops', so it's very obvious to see it's running due to the hair movement, yours barely move (or at least, it moves: with the head, but it doesn't move and flow on its own)
