hello, just trying to get better at graphic design. i've read "basic principles of design" by maier and "grid systems" by muller-brockmann. i still struggle to figure out how other designers make and use complex grids for their work. does anyone have any resources or advice for this?also, i primarily use illustrator and indesign (for long form text) atm. does anyone use photoshop for their designs and if so, why and what do u use it for? do u have any concerns about quality of print?pic related
>>462806>resources or advice for this? The best way to learn is with courses from domestika/lynda/skillshare, especially the ones that have project files, from there you can dissect the files and go layer by layer inspecting and messing with everything, also a lot of schools make you recreate artworks you find inspiring from scratch you learn a lot from that, and some studios have websites where you can learn the most important part which is the case study, meaning a breakdown in writing and step by step, of what the brief was, the problems, the process and solution. Once you do some case studies you'll be able to communicate more clearly your design decisions and convince people of your expertise, which is a big part of graphic design.A cheaper or free alternative is on gumroad you can find freebies for layouts and useful things for learning design fundamentals.>does anyone use photoshop for their designs and if so, why and what do u use it for?Photoshop is the standard for posters, the main reason is you can work really fast, you can create custom grids like nothing else, and is the best for doing anything with photography or bitmap elements, though I prefer illustrator, and indesign if there's multiple pages. Also watch:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DzarZJXEDmI
