Way less fertile land, diseases everywhere, actual fucking predators everywhere and large swaths of land just plain out desert or savanna. When your whole life consists of either dying of sicknesses or predators or of scrambling together the very few bits of food your land produces, then your society has no fucking resources to spare to actually develop. The reason why places like china or Europe were able to develop quickly is because the places they inhabited were perfect all around. Large areas with very fertile lands, a significant lack of actual predators, relatively few diseases and plenty of natural resources almost for free. There's a reason why fringe societies like the vikings couldn't compete with mainland Europeans once the Romans took over: Be abuse they lacked the resources, even when it comes to people to develop new technologies. Romans on the other hand inhabited pretty much all the arable and fertile lands in Europe, had plenty of slaves and thus had ample opportunity to advance their tech. Their technological superiority is one of the key factors why they dominated back then, and that by itself simply is possible because the land was giving them everything for free.

Africa on the other hand is the fucking opposite, and it shows how fucking brain-dead you people are that you don't recognise that. It's ridiculous reading about how "Africans still live in mud huts" like yea no shit they do, for the same reason that indigenous tribes still do and the fucking enuit still do.
