Are Wikipedians incompetent? How is this allowed? The map is made in MS Paint or some other amateur garbage and then, everyone just copied these maps.. everything here is offensively bad and vague. Most Indo-European migration maps are horrible and outdated. They're so old it's worth wondering why no one has had the courage to update them. The so-called "Andronovo horizon" has already been revised with genetic and archaeological studies, yet this poor map is still used in 2025. It's unbelievable that they still use this map with outdated information. We had an Andronovo presence in the Tarim or eastern Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and possibly northern Iran and even Baluchistan. (Sometimes, when bodies are not preserved, material culture can be a clue.) And yet, this map is preferred and used even by serious articles. Even before the general advent of genetics, archaeologists were already postulating Andronovo presence in other locations, so it's not like it's something very brilliant. Kek
>>17958565Correct, it's strange to think how outdated these are, even with the new supplementary information, The same with Afanasievo. We have some material and very solid indication that they possibly went as far as northwest China, maybe and Regarding Andronovo, is there any indication of a presence beyond Xinjiang, yes, but we should be cautious about this. but they were certainly in a greater expansion than this old map tells us, the new samples revealed these months attest in greater detailWhat bothers me most is how these maps don't seem to follow the evolution and completion of the information and use those horrible arrows very basic and shitty I have a friend who make very good maps from xiiter, maybe some of you guys knows him
>>17958565Go to Wikipedia and upload a corrected map, with citations and all.
>>17958596>northwest Chinainteresting, yes, I think that's plausible, and I think I know who your friend is... pax weltkrieg?>>17958596It seems we have a Wikipedia editor here? You felt it, didn't you? Which is a way to divert the focus of the debate and avoid discussing the criticism presented. It is a fact that these maps are flawed and erroneous in several aspects. You don't need to be a renowned cartographer to notice this. You guys also get into discussions about genetics and no one is a geneticist, Would this be an impediment to debate?
>>17958596OP is correct and these maps are garbage and it is not necessary to improve anything to criticize something there is a difference between constructive criticism and pure ad hominem and damn this map is no one with the right because it made you dilate lmao
>>17958565>>17958607>pax weltkrieg?Yes
>>17958565I agree this map does not show all Andromutt expansion I do not mean anything by this, but there is Andronovo pottery in the Philippines, but clearly due to trade in this case
>>17958565genetics as applied to history is a subfield of archeology.there's no qualitative difference between relating pottery or grave designs across time and space vs relating genomes of found bodies.
>>17958565>Are Wikipedians incompetent? Yes. >How is this allowed?Jews. If you think picrel is retarded, then you must see the maps of the Spanish and French empires, nearly all of them are fake. And if you say something, you get banned.
>>17958758>If you think picrel is retarded, then you must see the maps of the Spanish and French empires, nearly all of them are fake.Jesus, true. Or the the maps of Napoleonic Europe
>>17958705wtf are you talking about
>>17958875What don't you understand? There is Andronovo pottery in the Philippines, but before you cry and call it Nordicist or some other rubbish, see it as purely archaeological value. There was no migration to perhaps, so it was probably a type of trade between them or even third parties.
>>17958565A better one
>>17959034Bruh but looks less retard than the OP's oneAnd btw, eastern Kazakhstan means what exactly? Near mongolia?
>>17958607>>17958610I haven't edited a single wikipedia article in my life, but the point of Wiki literally is that you can correct their shit if you know better. So the two of you bitching here is just bitch behaviour.
>>17958565Bump
>>17958616This guy sucks
>>17958889just because some schizo claims it I don't think Andronovo pottery has ever been found in the Philippines
>>17959034Nice how this shows the Andronovo influence in tarim
>>17959059this, but you also have to factor that most of the nerds who care about this atleast on here have extreme social anxiety and would literally cry if someone were to reject them even if it was something as small as editing a wiki article.
>>17958565>Are Wikipedians incompetent?Yes.Is Wikipedia bad? This is a "contentious" topic. By that I mean, only normies or Wikipedians themselves would be shocked at this.First is Wikipedia's NPOV rule, their neutrality clause. I don't think it takes a genius to point out a lot of Wikipedia isn't exactly neutral. The current head of Wikipedia admits the site leans left on a wider political scale. You can see this on many political articles (both figures & topics), religion oriented articles, & when talking about countries / events. Next is Wikipedia's "UNDUE" rule, these rules I ultimately agree with in principle, it's just the implementation that's gone awry. But while on this rule I'd like to mention is "Truth" on Wikipedia. Because the CEO of Wikipedia said in relation to WIKI:UNDUE, "If a viewpoint is held by an extremely small minority, it does not belong on Wikipedia, regardless of whether it is true." Wikipedia is under no obligation to tell you the truth. It's just there to tell you what everyone believes.I believe this is exemplified by WIKI:NOR, their no original research rule, which is agreeable in theory. But in practice leaves a lot to be desired. In the eyes of the rules the best Wikipedia source is secondary, this results in the most common Wikipedia sources being newspapers, magazines, other very unreliable sources. While academic journals are allowed, seriously, how many people read those over pop-history articles? Look back to that quote above, the common view matters, not the viewpoint of a minority. Thus if there was an article on (YOU) you can't say what you said, a newspaper needs to say it before you can add it. See how this problem compounds to new research disseminating to the world? If it's not held by the majority it's irrelevant, then no articles are written, then it's never added.Lastly before this gets too long, Wikipedia has a huge clique problem, people sit on articles, & maintain the articles to hold their viewpoint.
>>17960888Sameflag >>17960967Good
>>17960967You're saying that Wikipedia are based tradchads who shit on minorities and make sure that the weak fear the strong?Aside from that, it makes sense that they would not fancy their articles on the planet Earth being rewritten to reflect Flat Earther positions or the one on the bronze age collapse in line with the folks who think it was a meteoric impact that cause it all. Heck, you could rewrite the history of early civilization to reflect Gobineau's position of a continuous migration of Super-Aryans from North to South, but that would be besides the point when we can actually read a lot of ancient texts. In a likewise fashion, it makes sense that they use popular and secondary sources as the primary ones, because an Encyclopedia is ultimately a reflection of the current standard of knowledge. They aren't cutting edge, just current.
>>17960967>Lastly before this gets too long, Wikipedia has a huge clique problem, people sit on articles, & maintain the articles to hold their viewpoint.I read that their investors were like: "Are you... democratic????!!!" and the team hurried to assure them that they actually were a oligarchy formed by the people who enforce page format standards on articles. That appeased investors. That was something they could work with, mentally.
>>17960967>UNDUEWhat this is is a way to remove any negative press from any liberal political figure really. Ugh, we decided that this is undue and doesnt need to be here!Wikipedia is a great concept ruins by partisan terminally online troons, just like most other internet/nerd culture stuff
