What were they?
>>
>>17964606
Hunnies
>>
>>17964606
What if those two people married each other's sisters?
>>
>>17964606
The elites were hapas that got whiter as they went west. Attila was a hapa but most of the people below him, including soldiers, would have been Europeans.
>>
>>17964606
They were a confederation constantly fighting and bleeding manpower, so they might well started like up and ended like down.
>>
>>17964606
some nobles looked like the above.
the majority looked like the bottom.
>>
>>17964606
uyghurs or turkics
racially happas probably
>>
>>17964606
Idk but Slavs mysteriously appeared around the same time
>>
>>17964606
idk but i asked my own "hun" (my wife) and she said she had nothing to do with it LOL!
>>
Turkic people from central Asia. At least that's the theory. Nobody knows for certain what their culture was. So many tribes intermingled with the Huns while they were in Europe that it's very likely the Huns in Europe were both genetically and culturally distinct from their ancestors who started the migration in Asia.
>>
>>17964832
The most mainstream theory is that they were Yeniseians, not Turks.
>>
>>17964856
false, there's no mainstream theory.
>>
>>17964865
>The most
>>
>>17964868
still would be false, you mean the most recent theory and even then it was dismissed by most.
>>
>>17964872
The Xiongnu were almost for sure Yeniseians and the Huns were probably Xiongnu.
>>
Steppe were mixed you had east asian and eurasian ancestry competing places like Kazakhstan used to have people who looked like pale iranians living their before timur genocided them.
>>
>>17964606
They were neither of those things. They were a mongrel horde.
>>
>>17964606
>What were they?

Germans
They raped Belgium
>>
>>17965132
Bashkirs look like "evil human barbarians" from fantasy settings to me, like chaos warriors or something.
>>
You now realize that part of the horror of the Huns stems from the fact that they were such rigorous race mixers creating a mystery meat federation that no one at the time could even tell what kind of demons (mischlings) those creatures were.
They could fight, yes, but everything else seemingly was truly Godless about them.
>>
>>17964606
Imagine a central Asian of today. The Romans like Ammianus wrote them as being very ugly so we can assume they did not look Caucasian at all
>>
>>17964606
the real Huns had coneheads and chink eyes.

They seem to have been legit soldiers, they're mentioned in several Old Norse sagas as being badass warrior bros, but also universally regarded as ugly and savage in every way.
>>
>>17964824
This is absolutely hilarious. I am stealing this to post in any and all future Hun threads.
>>
>>17964606
The Huns were a multi-ethnic horde of nomads, subjegated nomads, slave foot-soldiers of different ethnicities, all ruled by some kind of non-Indo-European ruling ethnic group. Possibly Turkic. Also, possibly Uralic. They definitely weren’t white people.
>>
>>17964878
There’s no consensus on that AFAIK, it’s just an unsubstantiated hypothesis.
>>
Every steppe empire was just an amalgamation of various mystery meat ethnicities.
If the Golden Horde, the Saka, and the Scythians were multi-ethnic then so were the Huns probably.

>Contemporary observers of the Huns in Europe, such as Priscus and the 6th century historian Jordanes, preserved three words of the language of the Huns:

>In the villages we were supplied with food – millet instead of corn – and medos as the natives call it. The attendants who followed us received millet and a drink of barley, which the barbarians call kamos.[12][5]

>The words medos, a beverage akin to mead, kamos, a barley drink, and strava, a funeral feast, are of Indo-European origin.

I don't know about the other words, but kamos sounds suspiciously similar to kumis/kimiz, which is a Turkic word for an alcoholic drink, not barley-based, but the meaning could have changed to describe any kind of booze (like how 'brandy' is sometimes used to describe any random spirit).
>>
mix of all above they were a confederation
>>
>>17966488
Before 200ish AD the western steppes were all white people, possibly the eastern steppes as well but at an earlier date
>>
>>17965322
That sounds absolutely badass.

ebin :DDD

The picture above is before the migration period, the picture below is after.
If you look at paintings of Attila, he looks kind of mixed-race.
>>
>>17964606
Why are Turknoids so desperate to be white?

Linguistic evidence points to Turkic, but frankly speaking it's a mangled evidence at best, especially as it appears that gothic or some other eastern germanic language was the lingua franca of their confederation/empire. On top of that they've left not that much in terms of archaeology and genetics is mangled af because the few remains that are from the period are often local germanics adopting what we think are hunnic customs for a short while.
>>
>>17965149
Not enough human bones or iron spikes.
>>
>>17966502
Those were Slavs under their occupation. Literally Mead and Kvass.

There were a bunch of steppe tribes that were nomadic and would raise various steppe animals/raid the area just west of china. They would occasionally form confederations and fight/get assimilated by the chinese and the persians. The most successful of these tribes over the years (ie the turks and the mongols) had empires we are familiar with that stretched from asia to byzantium. But the lesser known and weaker tribes would get pushed out west as the others conquered and so they would go west in the step until they hit protected european settlements. Thus we get the bulgars, huns, etc. So they were asian initially as you can tell by the hilariously unflattering byzantine descriptions of them but they were heavily mixed as they moved t through the middle east and eventually became whiter by integrating with the local europeans. Interestingly the chinese didnt like these tribes either because they were raiding barbarian so its fun to read about major empires trashing on these smelly uncivilized long haired horsemen on both ends of the "known world."

TVRK is just another rapist of Araps. I've been to Central Asia. It has no place to hide so it probably produces something similar to a "prison mentality". People there try to be chill but they're always ready for a fight. I like that.
In comparison, CHG mountain inbred goat-fuckers always bark but never fight unless they're in a group with knives.

I don't think they meant "East Asian" when referring to the Huns as ugly.
>>
>>17968917
One thing ive noticed about them is once you leave the city the rural people are very nice to you if you are travelling and dont act like a retard. They are not very smart people but are pretty tough minded fuckers.
>>
>>17969558
butthurt east asian lol
No it means they were different enough that they didnt adhere to European beauty standards. That said, the original huns were from Asia

Turks were originally a 100% east eurasian population that lived a hunter gatherer lifestyle north of Mongolia. They didn’t become pastoralists until indo europeans spread into the region and mixed with them. They were already hapas when they got btfo by China but by the time they arrived in Europe they’d picked up so much Scythian and Persian dna they were barely East Asian anymore.
