You will be so perfectly developed/purified spiritually that you will accept that and it will no longer sadden you, or 2. You will just get to have your dog in heaven. But AFAIK the Church’s official stance is that we still live in a “fallen world” just as before Christ, but that people before Christ had no clear mission given from God to act a certain way and thereby cannot be entirely condemned for their conduct. There is a meaningful difference between following the law of the Old Testament vs Christian morality, it’s just that we shouldn’t go so far as to shrink away from what the Law was and act like it was some other divine creator.
