One of my 19th century ancestors was a English aristocrat who owned a shit ton of land and mines and has a long ass wikipedia page that describes him as "very wealthy"Why the FUCK am I poor and living in Australia? Fuck my shitty chud life.
>>17976696sucks to be you I guess. My ancestors were plantation owners in North Queensland but I never tell anyone. The secret is to always appear poor no matter how rich you are.
>>17976696Free will exists but unfortunately individuality does not exist. You, in the person of your more recent ancestors, made free will decisions to blow the money on drugs and emigrate because ditching your extended family is based and socialist-modernist. Only peasants live at their mom's house, remember? You're le based faustian calvinist. Pull up those bootstraps and conquer that frontier.

>>17976766I accept your concession.
>>17976737individualism is the truthfuck other people (especially your descendants)
>>17976778Individualism can be the truth even if individuality doesn't exist. It isn't though.
>>17976778>>17976788Nothing can exist without its foundation in the past. The premise of individuality, that you exist separate from others, can't even happen unless someone else creates you, but I'm not talking about body separateness. That component of the individual is very real. The mental side is not real, you could even call it a western concept. The body and mind both reflect behavior over generations, free will over time producing almost infinite complexity from millions of human "supermolecules" interacting. It took an entire civilization to create the concepts we employ mentally. That's not cheap determinism either, like "God knew it would happen beforehand so free will not real" it's human behavior that could've gone different ways, because people are such complex systems. The point of being big and complex is to personally do a range of self-commanded things. You still have to make your own contribution, the premise of free will is true but the premise of individuality (that self is not contingent) is wrong. The term has been incredibly useful to defeat social oppression and liberate people from their obligation to tribal elders. There are other strong arguments for using it. Individual-ism is frequently a necessary ideology. My intention is to describe people accurately, and no description is complete without your provenance. You're part of a living web of flesh.
MF doesn't know that wealth dilutes.
>>17976696>Why the FUCK am I poor and living in AustraliaBecause generational wealth has to be maintained or reinvested.t. descendant of an aristocrat millionaire who lost if all in the French invasion of Mexico
>>17976696great grandfather was a rich maronite businessman in Lebanon, lost everything in the civil war and had to take his daughter (my mom) to Argentina, paternal grandfather was descended from old Tuscan aristocracy.Sometimes anon, history is a cruel bitch, not everyone can be a rich heir sadly

A big theme in William Faulkner’s fiction is aristocratic southern families in a downward spiral of poverty, miscegenation and mental illness. It makes for great literature but in real life generational wealth is usually maintained, like those studies that show people in the UK with Norman names are better off than the rest of the populace.
