Thoughts and consensus on this guy?
>>17978827Still extremely flawed but I would say definitely one of the more rational Israeli historians/scholars.
>tell me what to think about thus guyStop outsourcing your opinions.
>>17978827Zionists like him claim to uphold liberal values, but they still justify the tyrannical and genocidal policies of the Israeli government. His debate with Norman Finkelstein is a good and very revealing watch.
>>17978868Whats wrong with wanting to listen to others peoples thoughts
>>17978875Liberalism relies on tyranny and violence to be upheld.
>>17978875>they still justify the tyrannical and genocidal policies of the Israeli governmentDefinitely true to an extent. I'm genuinely not sure if Benny Morris does this out of bad intention or just ignorance, or maybe both. But I think at least his mind is in the right place regarding certain things. For example, he supports a two state solution, he is against Israeli settlements, and he supports the idea of cooperating with the PLO for peace negotiations.
>>17978894>I'm genuinely not sure if Benny Morris does this out of bad intention or just ignoranceThe former, he actually used to criticize Israeli war crimes to an extent when he was younger so he is certainly not ignorant.>But I think at least his mind is in the right place regarding certain things. The two state solution was always retarded and today it is more unfeasible than ever, and the PLO are corrupt collaborators who lack legitimacy in the eyes of the Palestinian people.Opposing further expansion of Israeli settlements is good though, but far from enough.
>>17978936>The formerI think it's partially both. He seems to sometimes genuinely believe the stuff he is saying, but some of the stuff there is no way he doesn't know>The two state solution was always retarded and today it is more unfeasible than ever,The two state solution is probably the only good and sustainable solution even if it's becoming increasingly difficult. Large amounts of settlements will need to be dismantled for it to work well though
>>179789631 state with equal rights for all is the only good and sustainable solution.>inb4 but they hate each other too muchTensions will probably always be there, but convincing most ordinary people to accept it is certainly plausible.
>>17979009>1 state with equal rights for all I don't think it's sustainable at all. The majority of Palestinians want Islam to play a role in their country. If it's a one state democracy, then the Jews will hate it, and vice versa same for Palestinians if the Jews (especially religious Jews) are the majority. Even if it's not religious, there will probably be some politicial divisions based on ethnic lines. Separation is just speeding up the process.
The Birth of the Palestinian Refugee Problem and 1948: The First Arab-Israeli War are both stellar books, he's definitely one of the better shitlip historians.
>>17979009>Just be my lab rats broEasy for you to say when you don't have to live under this.
>>17979019>The majority of Palestinians want Islam to play a role in their country. The Islamist sentiment among Palestinians is greatly exaggerated in Zionist propaganda, and the sentiment that does exist is largely a product of the conflict.>If it's a one state democracy, then the Jews will hate it, and vice versa same for Palestinians if the Jews (especially religious Jews) are the majority. Even if it's not religious, there will probably be some politicial divisions based on ethnic lines. You're right, but you can solve this by mandating the representation of both groups in government.>>17979031>NOOOO I DON'T WANT TO LIVE WITH ARABSShould have thought about that before you moved to an Arab country.
>>17978827Fat ugly kike
>>17979049You are ok with Israeli oppression, fine, but understandably Israelis are going to fight back. Get used to it.
>>17979058"Fighting back" by murdering babies is never understandable.
>>17979049>The Islamist sentiment among Palestinians is greatly exaggerated in Zionist propagandaThe majority of Muslims in other muslims countries are also in favor of islam so why wouldn't Palestinans be the same. Even if that was the case, there is no question that Jews are becoming more and more religious. It's just ripe for conflict.>You're right, but you can solve this by mandating the representation of both groups in government. This exists in many Western countries as well but everyone still says multiracialism and multiculturalism is a failure and disaster. Monoculturalism and monoethnicity is good. In my opinion, most likely no matter how hard they try, the one state is going to lead to some of separation via some means anyway. You could literally avoid all of this rigamarole by just advocating for a two state solution, where both groups get their own homelands.
>>17979064>cringe rhetoric instead of addressing the pointYou're not interested in a conversation
>>17979072>The majority of Muslims in other muslims countries are also in favor of islamIn favour of islamist rule? No, no they are not.>This exists in many Western countries as well but everyone still says multiracialism and multiculturalism is a failure and disaster.I would agree that homogenity is preferable, but multiculturalism isn't unworkable and in much of the world, including Palestine in my view, it is the only option.>>17979074Not with you, no, as you didn't make a serious point in the first place.
>>17979103Pew Search Center showed that a median of 74% of people in MENA supported Sharia in 2013. To be fair this data is a bit old, but I doubt much has changed significantly. >I would agree that homogenity is preferableExactly. >multiculturalism isn't unworkableAs you said, it's not the most desirable option, homogeneity is. >it is the only option. It's not, a two state solution needs to be advocated for as much as it can, it's feasible under the right circumstances although things admittedly look pretty grim right now. And even just speaking realistically, Israelis are less likely to accept a one state solution than a two state solution anyway.
>>17979103It's not serious to point how inviable forcing two people that want to kill each other to share a land is?Not even your precious Palestinians desire it bro. This will inevitably lead to both groups competing control over state power to oppress each other, that is if you manage to eliminate insurgencies in such a war torn region to begin with. South Africa which a lot of people point to is a dysfunctional country that is still highly racially segregated, animosity still persists, and there is a growing separatist political party. All that yet they don't even have to struggle with sharing a land that has religious significance. And I'm the one being unserious? Whatever anon
>>17978827I haven't read any of his books but I want too, as he's very intelligent in the interviews I've watcehd. An interesting thing about him is that he was widely cited among the anti-Zionist, pro-Palestinian camp because I'm presuming he proved the Israelis massacred a lot of people back in 1948. He was also a conscientious objector who went to prison during the First Intifada for a few weeks because he refused to serve in the army. Basically one of these Ashkenazi Jewish Israelis who were Zionists but didn't like occupying the West Bank. But the suicide bombings during the Second Intifada blackpilled him and he became a security hawk. Many such cases. He grew up in a kibbutz.
