Why does the GOAT make /his/ seethe?
>>17981994Anti-Augustus slander always generates seethe despite the fact that the real life Augustus was definitely a sociopath (by modern standards at least).
>>17982013Augustus wasn't any more sociopathic than a whole chunk of the Roman aristocracy of the era. I think Cicero was also a sociopath yet this guy seems to ride his cock too much.
Haven't seen his new video, is it good?
>>17982078Seethes about the ungodly "massacre" of 12 violent protesters but gleefully recounts and supports the possible violent revolution in 1830 Britain
>>17981994>GOATthat’s not Atun-shei
>>17982084Very weak bait
>>17982089the confederacy lost

>>17982094I don't care about the Confederacy as I am not even a trve American but the only reason you said Atun shei was to bait people because he has about as much connection to the Civil War as I do yet hes strongly opinionated over it.
>>17982029Augustus was more competent and calculating. This and favour from Fortune put him couple steps higher beyond his peers.
>>17981994/his/ is full of /pol/trannies that get mad when you point out the historical figures they worship would've treated the /pol/trannies like shit and potentially seen them as subhuman>>17982029that's true, but highlights that we shouldn't put any roman politician on a pedestal since they were all shit
>>17982194I think a degree of sociopathy is a good leadership quality actually and I never phrased Augustus or Cicero being sociopaths as inherently bad I just said that this youtuber is harsh on Augustus but meatrides someone probably as sociopathic as Augustus
>>17982104The comments on his videos are so fawning it is sickening
>>17982082He really became a commie
>>17982082>supports the possible violent revolution in 1830 BritainDid you even watch the video? He was obviously in favour of peaceful reform in Britain and complained a lot about the Lords stubbornness potentially pushing the UK to civil war -pointing out how this would wreck the British world empire (probably exaggerating somewhat, but a concern nonetheless) and comparing the peaceful solution favourably to the revolution in France. At one point he even said a revolution in the UK would have led to a world war. My main problem with the video is that he absolutely worshiped Grey, and described the great reform act as if it was this perfect document that brought greater liberty and democracy to Britain, eatting Whig lies straight from Macaulay's dead hand. In truth the Great Reform act was more an anti-corruption reform than anything else, and while seats were relocated from rotton boroughs to areas previously without representation, they also standardised voting requirements in borough seats across the country, so whereas previously all freemen of many boroughs could vote, no matter if they owned land or not. Overall the percentage of the country able to vote may have not increased at all. He also failed to mention that some of the strongest support for the bill was from the most reactionary quarters of the lords, who saw the bill as a way to increase the protestant vote and reduce the catholic one
>>17982029I dont get how one can hate Augustus when he was far more moral and conservative for roman tradition than half of the corrupt senators of the past. Not to say he didn't have an agenda or was a saint but still, you don't become one of the longest ruling people in rome without a bit of goodness in your actions.
>>17981994devil
>>17981994He is very goofy in how he gets so personally involved and emotional about these events from hundreds or even thousands of years ago.
>>17983051Its easy to hate a guy who ended a republican government and made himself a king in all but name. True many of the enemies were also self serving, but they were self serving within the bounds of Roman republicanism. Augustus conservatism were only to the extent of not repeating his adopted father's mistakes in disregarding the senate and openly longing for the crown. Also unlike Caesar he didn't have much mercy for those who opposed him, and even abandoned allies when it was expedient. If there was any good to be said of him he did seem concerned about creating a stable system that wouldn't desolve into civil war as soon as he kicked the bucket, which is more than any would be ruler since Sulla had done.
I'm just not a big fan of the history videos on Youtube.
