very observant OP.

>Nobody says anything about East and South East Asians following an Indian religion
The alternatives for them are either ooga booga folk religion, Christianity/Islam, or Communist Atheism
>>
>>17984759
Buddhism didn't replaced their traditional folk religions like how Christianity did with the western ones, but combine with them walking side by side with local traditions
>>
I do think it is bad, but they are less delusional about it and don't kill each other for not being Buddhist. China and Japan have at various times cracked down on Buddhism and attempted to eradicate it for being foreign.
>>
>>17984759
white people these days believe in ethical socialism (left or right wing. it doesn't matter.). Christianity is just an aesthetic at this point.

Actually because of Buddhism a shit ton of Hindu gods were adopted as "traditional" Chinese and Japanese gods in their respective folk religions.

Not really.

Not an argument, retard.

which is actually completely false

The post Meiji restoration Japan invented a new cult of state Shintoism out of whole cloth and suppressed Buddhism and "real" Shintoism.

Shinto always was a state religion and inherently fluid. Who defines "real" Shintoism? If it goes out from the Emperor, it is the religion of Japan.

correct. Shintoism was originally just animistic religious practices which the state suppressed to look "modernized" and create a cult around the state and emperor.

No one cares about SEAs, and also Buddhism is much more permissive of syncretism than orthodox forms of Abrahamicism. (I say orthodox because up until like fifty years ago the Islam practiced in Indonesia was only very vaguely Islamic). It's still an Indian religion, however; bringing many Indian concepts, characters and Gods as it goes. But, they don't wholesale replace what was before. Same for Hinduism. (RIP SEA Hinduism btw).
Actually, does anyone know why Bali remained Hindu? That's mysterious to me.
>>17985349
It's a common and well known term used in academia. What do you want me to call them? Sandnigger worship? Jewish Schizophrenia?

For example, Tibetan Buddhism is built on a throughly Indian base, but takes intocompletely different directions and introduces new concepts. Like your body withering away into a rainbow as you reach enlightenment and such.Plus they also keep to their gods in syncretic things like Bön.

The Buddha was an Aryan, had Greek students in his own lifetime, his teachings are preserved on the Ahoka pillars in Greek and there was no writing in the entire Indian sub-continent prior to contact with the Greeks.

The Buddha may have been Asian, but "Buddhism" wouldn't exist with out Europeans and their language(s)/love of writing to preserve it all. Even Da-Mo/Bodhidharma was called that "Damned Blue-Eyed Monk!".

Euro Bros for the win again!
>>
>>17985373
>Buddha
He was a Kshatriya and clustered with Indians.

>had Greek students in his own lifetime
No, he didn't.

>there was no writing in the entire Indian sub-continent prior to contact with the Greeks
This would've been right, if you had listed the Persians.

>Da-Mo
He was Sogdian, not European.

You lose again.

It's actually a title

Unless you mean demon in an Abrahamic way, they're the same thing.
>>

I don't take non-asians seriously in general when they get into eastern religions because they seem like heavily ethnocentric religions that you have to be raised into rather than conversion. Christianity is the McDonald's of religion. Anyone can walk in and buy some salvation with no regard for cultural background or race.
>>
>>17985414
Not Buddhism. Btw, you can join most the 'ethnocentric' asian traditions. There just isn't much of a missionary effort like in Christianity. Or a streamlined mechanism of conversion. You can go to a Hindu ashram, become a Yogi if you have the mettle for it. You can become an accomplished Daoist initiated in traditions if you work really hard. But there isn't a cushy pipeline to induct you into the tradition. It's no skin off their nose if you don't join. They usually won't deny you if you do want to do so, though.

For an example of this rare breed of convert:

It's unfortunate they all look goofy as fuck, though.
>>
>>17985414
Yes the Buddha only was sent to Indians.

Wait... That's what Jesus said about Jews. Paul was the one who opened the floodgates to gentiles, not requiring them to be circumcised. Jesus clearly says he was sent ONLY to the lost sheep of Israel (Matthew 15:24). Non-Jewish Christians are LARPing by your own logic.

>nooooooo you can't follow a world religion if you aren't the right race.
>>
>>17985413
Analogous means the equivalent in Western perception, yes. Mara is not a target of worship in East Asia.
>>
>>17985458
Christianity was simply an amalgamation of all different religious practices going on in the Roman world at that time, it can't be credited to any group in particular.
>>
>>17984759
East and Southeast Asians didn't create an ideology of racial superiority against Indian people in the same way as Europeans did against Middle Eastern people.
>inb4 Imperial Japan
Resulted from Japan playing copycat to European colonialism and actually did sideline Buddhism somewhat because it wasn't originally Japanese

>Resulted from Japan playing copycat to European colonialism and actually did sideline Buddhism somewhat because it wasn't originally Japanese
Buddhism had been a part of Japan for almost 1,000 years at that point and extremely integrated into the culture.
>>
>>17986620
>Buddhism had been a part of Japan for almost 1,000 years at that point and extremely integrated into the culture.

so? i mean whites have been in America for 400 years but they're still a foreign invader and should go back to Europe. for the record and just so you know i'm not prejudiced blacks should go back to Africa too, only Native Americans actually belong here.
>>
>>17986620
Yeah and the imperial government tried to de-integrate it largely because of nationalist ideas from Europe filtering into the country
>>
>>17984759
Buddhism is more of a general framework upon which you can build a religion if you're so inclined. At its core, there's very little "religion" and it's more like philosophy than a cultural identity.
>>
>>17986627
Those "native" Americans came from Asia via Siberia by our best guesses, should we kick them out of the Americas too? Just completely depopulate it? What about mixed people half Siberian American and half white, do we cut them in half and send one half to Europe? If we take the Out of Africa theory to be fact (I'm skeptical) do we cram everyone on the African continent?
