If Materialism is obsolete philosophically and intellectually, why is it still dominant culturally?
>>17985487It isnt (theoretically). It is only dominant practically since the practical domain is the material plain. In theory, most critical ideas start from an idealistic view then are applied through approximation as material realities.
>>17985487Materialism mogs most religions, it is wrong but few actually have the spiritual knowledge to know this. It's mostly low iq religious people like christcucks who argue against materialism but they do it with apologetics not honest debate.
Wdmy materislism? That all there is is matter? Do you think somebody can come up with a robot that acts and thinks like a person? I think its possible
>>17985496That matter exists before ideas. All Ideas are just a phenomenon emanating out of matter (except for the idea of Materialism).
>>17985505Well yes unless you believe theres stuff floating around using the brain or chips as a home or something.
>The philosophical concept of materialism, however, has much older roots, beginning with ancient Greek philosophers like Democritus in the 5th century BCE, who posited that reality consists solely of atoms and empty space.leave it to leftists to fuck with the meaning of words
>>17985493>>17985505incorrect. materialism can't explain what the universe was like prior to its inception. so ideas take prominence. the universe had to be "thought" of by something before it existed. from the tiniest rock to the Golden Gate Bridge and the Paris commune, all of existence has to come from something reifying it from mental phenomena. so Marx is wrong.
>>17985532Democritus was Satan incarnate
>>17985540Leave to a parasite like marx to ape some 400 IQ precognizant mutant
>>17985505>All Ideas are just a phenomenon emanating out of matterThat is self evidently false. Otherwise, how would people devise past their circumstances? Yet we do it all the time. Even dreams supersede the material conditions of everyday life.
>>17985538If god can be eternal, so can the universe. If the universe had to he thought of or created, so did god.
>>17985538>the universe had to be "thought" of by something before it existedWrong, you're the perfect example of religious retard. And most religions give a shitty explanation for that, as well as for the current universe. Materialism explains the latter very well.
>>17985487> https://www.marxists.org/archive/harman/2009/zombiecap/01-concepts.htmlMaterialism is culturally dominant for the same reason a zombie is. Its brain is dead, but the body is still shambling forward, powered by inertia and consumer capitalism. It is an intellectually bankrupt operating system that society is too lazy and comfortable to upgrade. We’d rather have cheap thrills than a costly truth.
It isn't. Most philosophers now lean toward emergentism, not crude materialism.
>>17985487>>17985489>>17985493>>17985496Marxism is a mental disorder.
