Is hellenic paganism the most well preserved kind (in text)?
Well not really. Egyptian maybe. Or maybe some Chinese folk religion. The European and Middle Eastern ones largely got wiped out due to being the epicenters for Christianity and Islam respectively. Both of which didn't really care very much about preserving most of those religions. The European ones fared a little better but only because some Christians wrote polemics/quoted them or just documented them as myths. But how accurate they are really isn't that well known. And a lot of pagan religions had a far looser idea of canon. Not like ancient Greeks had a "bible" version but with pagan gods. It was more localized cults and regions that had their own takes on the gods but they still all shared a similar broad theme.
>>17988674Induism a living tradition with direct roots in a ancient pagan past. It is by far the most well-preserved. It never died out.
>>17988674Probably not. I still need my Chaldean Oracles.
>>17988674Hellenic mythology and religious practices might be best preserved in europe.Norse mythology has two fragments and almost no written record on practices.Finno-ugric mythologies are well recorded. But those are so scattered and often syncretic that there is no clear picture. Practices are known through comparative research.Shinto is just faggot of paganisms.>>17988685Way too many people think paganism is like christianity with unified bible.
Mesopotamian Paganism is. There are literally so many clay tablets documenting it.
