That's because most people don't think about the Irish so even though the most recent studies have shown they are not no one pays attention. Isn't that the same ai that told people to eat rocks?

Insular Celts are our own thing. We're sort of proto-Germanics who adopted Celtic culture and language because of trade with the continental Celts.

Only Arnaiz-Villena says the Irish are celts or even related to the Isle of Britain and that's against every other study. Speaking a celtic language suggests that they may have came into contact with a celtic culture like on Britain. Trade certainly influences language.

Irish are as "celtic" as any other specific ethnic group is, because "celtic" is a language family first and people just sort of projected an imaginary ethnicity onto it. Tons of different peoples have been tarred with the Celt brush and they have very little in common with one another, taken as a whole.

In a way, the pre-celtic bell beakers that exterminated the stonehenge builders were probably the darkest and swarthiest corded ware descended groups, idk how much hallstatt ancestry the irish have, i've seen it go anything from 20 to 40 %, but these two make up the iron age gaelic component that's roughly 80% of modern irish ancestry, the remaining 20% being scandinavian north germanic through the vikings
>>
>>17993237
As good as any. I think all the Insular Celts are a hodgepodge of people from Gaul / Germania who spun off at some point in the last maybe 7000 years. Possibly more recent. We know they aren't genetically that distant from Gaul or Germany.

Remember that during the ice age you could walk to Britain and a large swathe of the North Sea was above sea level (doggerland). Britain being an island only became a thing after the glaciers melted and doggerland was inundated. Whoever lived on Britain before, the bell-beakers or whoever, probably got displaced during the migrations caused by the de-glaciating of Europe.

Western Corded Ware (80% Steppe 20% EHG) + Atlantic Hero Cult Civilization (These were 80% Anatolian and 20% WHG).
Irish are approximately 50/50 of each.
Celtic culture is a transitional culture from Late Western Corded Ware to Iron Age Western European.

celtic is a waste basket grouping for western european indo-european languages existing on a dialect continuum whose shared features are mostly areal.
Italic was a part of this before becoming separated by the alps.

not really proto-Germanic per se but a sister group to proto-Germanics.
CWC > Nordic (Proto-Germanic/Nordic Bronze Age) > Germanic/Modern Nordic
CWC > "Celtic" > Irish
Celtic only emerged where Western Corded Ware was but without that WHG Nordic element.
Celto-Italic is poorly understood as a culture because its so expansive.
Celtic emerged all at once out of Western Europe, in Ireland, Spain, Austria, and Italy at the same time, it didnt 'spread' like Germanic culture spread during the Volkerwanderung.
It spread like Americans calling fizzy drink "coke" spread.
It just kind of happened at the same time everywhere and because these Western Corded Ware/BellBeaker people all spoke the same language, had the same culture, the same ideas, they immediately adopted Celtic because it was the most modern form of their native folkway.
>>
>>17993217
That's like saying humans arent a subspecies because they have so many differences and there are human hunter gatherers who are closer to Neanderthals in culture than to modern humans.
Celtic is poorly understood because its a misnomer.
Celtic is Western Corded Ware/Bell Beaker.
There is no sudden break like with Neolithics to Steppe culture.
Its a gradual shift.
Like the Iron Age Irish have more in common with Iron age Scandinavians than they do with modern Irish, but this is because the transition from then to now has taken place over a long period of time, obviously they are the same people just in different iterations even if those iterations may be more distinct from each other than unrelated groups.
