Suicide is a based. I can think of a lot of ways society would be greatly improved if it was a more widespread phenomenon. Everyone should try it first before they condemn it, most people I know would really benefit from suicide.

Based on what I've read, some Viking and warrior cultures implicitly valorized dying for honor or in battle, sometimes involving ritual suicide if defeat was imminent.

Romans saw suicide as a way to retain or preserve familial honor in cases of severe crimes. There is also the case of Otho's suicide, which was seen as noble by the Romans as it avoided further bloodshed during a civil war. It's also reported that some of his soldiers followed his example later at his funeral.
