orangized by the west to control competition and prices and ensure profits were routed back into the US banking system. So, it was the right thing to do for the empire, not for the OPEC countries. Also, OPEC countries were supposed to buy US treasuries on the open market, but acutally they secretly bought directly from the New York fed at lower prices (higher rates) and the extra cash from the sales were loaned out to select US businesses (banks and defense) at lower than market rates to allow US business an unfair finacial advantage compared to the rest of the world. Its just a big game.
