Nobody goes to church anymore (regardless of their sect) - at least with young white men - because they are the exact same anarcho-tyrannies you find everywhere else such as in school, work, or law. They enforce standards arbitrarily and inconsistently, demand from you many things, and offer you nothing in return. Like all other institutions, except this one is completely optional, they want nothing but for you to obey until death without complaint.
>>18002299I have an idea on how we can get more people into churches, churches should add third places like lounge rooms outside of the sanctuary open to the public just to encourage people to hang out there more, which increases the likelihood that some of them will attend church service since they're already there. The Church is already the largest charitable organization in the world, so it has the power to take these small steps to really improve local communities
>>18002311During the Middle Ages people used to literally throw giant parties inside of the churches... ah life before petite bourgeoisie religion
>>18002299whats the point. even women who go to church are still hoeing out on the side and making onlyfans. no pussy no work.
>>18002319Churches in the Middle Ages were usually more than just the main building too, they often had courtyards and gathering places because back then the church didn't just serve a religious function, it served as a common gathering place for everyone in town and church service was just an excuse for everyone to drink and unwind after a long week and catch up with their neighbors
>>18002325Yeah and for anyone who makes the "community" argument about modern churches - you need to constantly be on guard, be reserved, and be weary of committing any social faux paus. Modern churches feel like offices and just like corporate "parties" - they just aren't fun because you can't let loose.
>>18002299in rural communities the church is typically THE main community building
Hard, hard disagree. Church is 95% white bread people living flavorless lives and the 5% people fighting the demons in their life and supporting each other through it. That 5% makes for excellent company.Also>anarcho-tyranny
>>18002462On weekends I'll ride my bike down downtown where there's a lot of evangelists trying to hand you pamphlets and strike up conversations about Jesus, and I've actually made earnest attempts at striking up conversations with some of them, since they all seem pretty eager to want to talk to someone about the gospel and all that and 99 percent of people tend to ignore them. None of them seem to want to get that deep into spirituality, theology, and metaphysics, it's all just shallow Sunday School-level recitation of dogma and Biblical narratives, which I always find pretty disappointing, it made me realize that most Christians really don't think that deeply about anything. They're all nice people, but they're very simple minded people, which wouldn't be a problem but you'd think people out on the streets peddling the gospel would have at least some level of enthusiasm towards deeper spiritual thinking.
Many churches preach moral messages that are essential just watered down into be nice platitudes.
