Usually, up until the age of around 17-18, kids are under the thumb of their parents and will attend the religious services that their parents want them too. I think changing your religion as an adult is among the most based things you can do, provided you put in the time and did the research and decided to pursue what you believe to be the truth. What is cringe is being mad at mom and/or dad for making you wake up on Sundays for church and becoming a militant atheist. Another thing that is sad is when people just go to the church their parents took them to out of habit, never putting a second thought into whether that religion is correct. Not that you should change simply for the sake of change, perhaps you come to the conclusion that whatever religion you were raised in is the correct one, I just don't think most people put in the effort.
