When the winds shifted and the USSR saw that there was much more political potential in the Arabs, they abandoned their support of Israel for anti-Western secular moderately Socialist Arab Ba’athists who were “anti-imperialistl and had just either gained independence or overthrew their monarchies. If things had gone a bit differently, the United States would have been the supporter of various Arab Monarchies, Democracies and Right-Wing Dictatorships while the USSR would’ve been the supporter of Left-Wing anti-Western dictatorship Israel.
