Imagine a conveyor belt, you have no idea what is coming out of it, everything that came out of it is already moving farther and farther away. You can attempt predict it what comes out of the production line but you are limited to the previous items on the belt that you have seen or through a documented/third person source. What ever comes out of that production line could literally be anything for all you know. It could even outright shutdown for good.
From a physics perspective, time is asymmetric, it doesn't favor any particular direction, the laws of physics more or less hold true for an object going both forward and backwards, but the overall entropy of the system tends to favor one direction. It's believe we evolved to feel time in one direction as we evolved to favor the direction of entropy.
