What nation had the best naval infantry/marines?Also curious about German naval infantry. Were they organised like their army? Were they ever used in major actions? Most of what I've found says they only organised divisions at the end of the war.
>>18006661>What nation had the best naval infantry/marines?Firstly, in most navies Naval Infantry and Marines serve two completely different roles. The former is a billet for sailors the latter is a specialist. Secondly, best in what? >Also curious about German naval infantry. Were they organised like their army? No, the were part of the Kriegsmarine. Historically, when sailors are billeted as Naval Infantry they served support functions such as guarding positions, serving as static patrols, or to act as force multipliers for ground forces. They're rarely used for active operations, and when they were used in that fashion it was due to desperation, often with high causalities due to their lack of infantry training. >Were they ever used in major actions? Most of what I've found says they only organised divisions at the end of the war. They were thrown into the Hurtgen Forest, along with other support units like cooks, supply clerks, and admins to stop the American advance.
Japan’s Marines, undoubtedly.Unbeatable, fearless soldiers.
>>18006862>Unbeatableum...
>>18006891At least there was an argument for the IJA.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Ichi-GoThe largest land battle in the Asian Theatre during WW2 was a Japanese victory against China.
>>18006832>Still manages to kill more Americans than what they lost with cooks and navy fags Sounds like they did pretty good all things considered. Compared to other axis powers like Japan or Italy who could not face Americans without melting away save for surprise attacks
>>18006906Anon, they were melted away by fresh American recruits and Soviet troops who were getting slaughtered by pre teens in Berlin. There was nothing unbeatable about the Japs. It's also pretty cheap to use their k/d ratio against illiterate country bumpkins in China who were facing both a famine and lack of any ammunition when that campaign took place, hell the Japs should have won the entire war in China at that point, any other cunt would have but they were that mid
>>18006832>best in what?presumably doing what naval infantry does
>>18007150They were shit like all Naval Infantry. They only did well because American supply lines and manpower were stretched thin, and yet with those extremely limited resources they decided to throw themselves against a heavily entrenched German blocking force.
