Rosie Alfaro ended up on California's death row for the murder of a 9 year old girl during a robbery in Anaheim. She was born in that city as Maria del Rosio Alfaro on October 12, 1971. Rosie's alcoholic father beat her and her three siblings and her mother was always working and rarely home. A friend of her father's molested her when she was 9. Rosie began skipping school at 11 and running away from home. She engaged in prostitution from the age of 13 to fund her voracious drug habit, which included multiple "speedballs" (a heroin and cocaine mixture) every day. Her mother Sylvia had tried to help her without much success. Maria was sent south of the border to live with her grandmother but was quickly brought back to California when Sylvia found her wandering the streets dressed in rags with no shoes on. She had gotten pregnant and gave birth to her eldest son Manuel at 14. Around the same time, her father completely abandoned the family. On June 15, 1990, April Wallace, 17 and a former high school classmate of Rosie's, arrived at her house on Hedlund Street in Anaheim that she shared with her mother Linda, 9 year old sister Autumn, and her infant child. No sooner had April stepped in the door then she realized the house had been robbed. Furniture was overturned and drawers pulled open and their contents dumped on the floor. The TV set and several other items were missing. April called out to her little sister but there was no response. She ran to a neighbor's house in a panic and told her what happened. The neighbor, Kathy Decker, helped her call police. Meanwhile, Linda Wallace arrived home from her job as a clerk at Anaheim Superior Court and April told her the house had been robbed. Linda went inside only to discover in horror that Autumn was laying on the bathroom floor in a pool of blood.
Orange County detective Tom Giffin arrived at the house in early evening. He believed Autumn had tried to hide from the burglar or burglars in the bathroom and they had left a good deal of physical evidence behind, including fingerprints. Autopsy of Autumn found that she was stabbed an incredible 57 times, with wounds all over the face, neck, chest, and back. The fatal injury was a knife thrust to the heart and a paring knife found on the kitchen floor was thought to match the stab wounds. Autumn Wallace was buried in Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Orange County. She had been a fixture in the neighborhood, a charming little girl who often played with other kids. Her father had died of cancer when she was in the 1st grade. It seemed bewildering who could possibly hate a 9 year old enough to want to stab her over 50 times. The Wallaces' neighbors reported seeing a rust or gold Monte Carlo in their driveway and two Mexican males standing outside, one of whom was holding an infant child. As police work at the house continued all through the night of June 15-16, Maria Alfaro, her boyfriend Manuel Cueva, and their young child were walking by. Maria said she knew April Wallace and wanted to talk to her. The cops replied that they were conducting a homicide investigation and could not let her inside at the moment. Tom Giffin became immediate suspicious since the reports of the two young Mexican men, one of whom had been carrying a small child earlier that day.
Fingerprints found in the house matched Alfaro's and she was promptly taken in for questioning, but denied having anything to do with the robbery and murder of Autumn. Soon afterwards, Alfaro left a bag of clothing at the home of Maria Ruelas, where she and her boyfriend sometimes stayed. She reportedly told Ruelas that she was going to Mexico shortly. Police arrived at Ruela's place and requested the bag of clothing, which she handed over. A pair of tennis shoes belonging to Alfaro and one of April Wallace's shirts were found inside. With enough probable cause, an arrest warrant was issued for Alfaro. Taken into custody, she broke down and confessed everything. She admitted to burglarizing the Wallaces' home with her two male accomplices to obtain drug money. She had not been close friends with April since graduating high school a year ago, although April still sometimes gave her car rides when she needed it.She said she didn't mean to kill Autumn but was high out of her mind on speedballs that day. Along with Manuel Cueva and another aquaintance she only called "Beto", she knocked on the door of the Wallaces' house. Since she was a friend of April's and known to the family, Autumn willingly let her inside. Maria claimed that "Beto", who was also high on drugs, was unhappy at finding Autumn in the house and told her to either kill the girl or he'd stab her 18 month old child; as they had this exchange in Spanish, Autumn was not aware of what was coming. Maria then told Autumn to go and get a hair curler for her out of the bathroom. When the girl did so, she attacked her in there. Maria insisted however that Beto killed Autumn and she only poked her with the knife a few times.
After Autumn was dead, they stole several items from the house, including a typewriter, TV, VCR, vanity mirror, clothing items, a Nintendo game console, and a clock rdio. They also took the microwave oven from the kitchen but it wouldn't fit in their car's trunk so they left it there. Although police told Maria that witnesses saw them driving a gold-colored Monte Carlo, she said they didn't have a car like that and were driving a blue '76 Camaro. She said they took the murder weapon with them and it was not the paring knife found in the kitchen. Their robbery had only netted them $150 after selling the stolen items.Maria was tried in Orange County Superior Court in April 1992, found guilty of first degree murder, and sentenced to death. Her defense claimed she had a difficulty upbringing and was bullied in school for her Latinx heritage. They also said there was no evidence that she actually killed Autumn instead of her accomplices. The state supreme court turned down her appeals in 2006 and as of 2024 she remains on California's death row awaiting execution.

Why does it take so long to execute prisoners in the US
>>18006835sounds like a completely average Mexican upbringing to me
>Maria told investigators that on the day of the murder, she was 18, had two children, and was currently pregnant with twins. Manuel Cueva was the father of the the twins.Yep it's a Mexican.

>>18006932Some states legally allow the death penalty but have a moratorium on actual executions. California is one of them. The appeals process also takes years. Since the 1970s state laws have had to allow appeals, so even if prisoners' lawyers don't succeed in having the sentence overturned it can take years before they're executed.
>>18007800that's mostly because lawyers can make tons of money with endless appeals
>>18007826That's part of it. The whole "exhausted appeals" bit isn't unusual worldwide though. In some countries defendants don't have to report to prison until they've exhausted their appeals.
>>18006932It's fucking California.
She did the girl a favor. Poor kid never even had a chance with these genetics.

Depends on the % of olmec blood. What I am saying is not that spics are mostly good looking, but that the vast majority are ugly ogres that have always been ugly ogres. I dont know where did the "latinas when they turn 30" meme come from.

>>18009278The stone Great Wall which stands today was built AFTER the Mongol Empire, during the Ming dynasty around 500 years ago.The previous walls were earth ramparts and did not even cover the whole northern border of China. The entire northwest border of China was left empty with no wall before the Mongol attacks.Get an education before trying to share "facts" with us. Is that why the MONGOLS were the ones who referred to ethnic Chinese as "Han" to DIFFERENTIATE the Han from Mongols? Is that why "Mongol" and "Han" are two separate ethnicities?Majority of Han Chinese carry Y chromosome Haplogroup O3. Mongols Y chromosome signature marker, including Genghis Khan, is Y Chromosome Haplogroup C-M217. Y chromosome is inherited from the father and Han Chinese and Mongols have different Y chromosomes.Han Chinese families like the Kong (Confucius's) descendants can trace their ancestry all the way back 3,000 years ago. In fact when the Mongols invaded they maintained the descendants of Confucians in their title of nobility as Dukes. You know nothing about Chinese history.98% of Kazakhs are descendants of Mongols
