Did they? I know about the Enlightenment philosophes being all Britainboos because Great Britain had a constitutional monarchy with lots of freedom of the press.

Before the kings' head came off I would even say it even was the common attitude. Many thought it was the monarchs' terrible foreign policies that antagonised Britain for no reason.
