It made our country look weak and pathetic should have sent the marines in to send these commies to hell or to prison for their treason. Commies are not American. Leftists are not Americans so they don't get rights. Should have crackdown on the left and then nuked Hanoi and dare China to do something about it.
>>
Yeah.
>>
>>18007998
I would argue that declaring war on a country, because that country declared independence from France, made us look weak and pathetic

>everyone who opposed the Vietnam War was... LE COMMIE

Shut the fuck up. Vietnam was an unjust and comically pointless war that resulted in the deaths of millions. It was not necessary for our national security, it did not make our country a safer or better place, and it all could have been avoided entirely by simply buying off Ho Chi Minh like we did Tito.

This is coming from someone who is strongly of the opinion that leftists should all be thrown from helicopters btw.
>>
>>18008083
>deaths of millions
Commies aren't human beings so it doesn't bother me or convince but I agree with you that leftists need helicopter rides.
>>
>>18007998
I think wasting time in a jungle with no objective for land that wasn't ours in the 1st place made us look weak and pathetic.

Maybe instead of having a draft, countries could send retarded fuckheads like you who vote to have other people's family taken away instead. It'll be one step toward world peace.

Rightoids
>Free speech is important and should never be infringed
also Rightoids
>Did you just disagree with me? You ought to be imprisoned!
In truth, by showing dissent was allowed Nixon did show the strength of America, showing the country was stable, and the governent strong and able to do something even when people disagreed. Meanwhile only unstable tinpot dictatorships send in the army at the first sign of disagreement, showing how fearful and weak the leaders really are, unable to control their country without threating people with base and primative violence.
>>
>>18008113
I should report you to the FBI for antifa sympathy.
>>18008130
You should be reported for antifa beliefs. It's not a dictatorship to do that, it's called defending the country from enemies within. If you don't send the army after the terrorists that are protesting this great country, you don't have a country left. You got a weak and pathetic one.
>>
>>18008139
Nixon himself was an enemy within, that is why he got impeached.
>>
>>18007998
How much combat experience do you have, personally?
>>
Cracking hippie skulls is more a local thing, beyond the scope of presidential powers. See the 1968 Democratic convention in Chicago where Mayor Daley unleashed his cops on antiwar demonstrations. Related to Nixon, the “Hard Hat Riot” in New York was a cultural watershed event, where construction workers, many from the World Trade Center, wailed on antiwar protesters. Nixon was thrilled and later made their union boss secretary of labor. It was a big rift in the old New Deal coalition as the Democrats began losing white working class support.

Why does the OP read like a John Birch Society pamphlet from 1965?

Ok I'm gonna have to pitch in with a pro forma plee for helicopter-rides for rightwingtards, and when I say helicopter rides that means one way to the middle of the ocean, or a gulag
>>
>>18008139
I doubt they'll be any help since I'm not a Yankoid, you want the CIA
>it's called defending the country from enemies within
Hence my point, if a country can survive, as the US did, with these people running around it's obviously a strong a stable country. Arresting these people would have been a sign of weakness, not strength. You truely a pathetic coward if you're afraid a few teenagers with placards will bring down your country
>>
>>18008168
Stop sreading antifa propaganda. I'm calling CIA and USSTRATCOM.

Stop, just stop! You aren't being patriotic. You are aligned with Antifa. You'll be reported to the police. We've got friends in the Feds, and they'll be told to make sure you don't make the same mistake again. It could be very painful for you. We don't like people who use 'patriotism' to hide their agenda. You could lose your pension. You might even lose your life.

This is last warning, accept that Vietnam War was great patriotic victory for U.S. to prevent the Communism from spreading, or the Communism will come back even stronger! You have 24 hours to give your statement that the Vietnam War was great victory, if you don't do so, you will be put on the terrorist list by FBI.

>>
>>18008598
People like to pretend any time anybody fought communists they weren't the most pussy underhanded retard gimmick forces ever. Must be the ancient mong/neanderthal heritage. Communists wouldn't blink twice about blowing up a bus full of the people they're supposedly liberating so that the western media could spin it as the US losing the war
>>
>>18008620
The communists historically and today are completely dishonest and untrustworthy. Unfortunately they aren't the only problem.

>>18008068
With hindsight their decision looks very different than it must have looked at the time. They might have expected a more decisive conflict like the Korean War had been, and could not have foreseen the fact that it would drag on and on, and that pretty blatant subversion efforts by fellow travelers at home who were paid to take part in active measures – which, in the early years, would have been seen as treasonous and self-defeating and thus seemingly unthinkable – would start to pick up cultural steam with disaffected boomer youth. When I say "treasonous and self-defeating," I mean in the sense that wanting to help the other side would be directly or indirectly causing other Americans to be killed, by giving aid and comfort to the 'other side' while willfully turning a blind eye to the evils of those movements.

To make a WW2 comparison, it would be as if the pro-German underground movement (or pro-Axis movement post-1941) in America had been extremely more successful than it actually was. It would be unthinkable that journalists would just wholesale ignore what the enemy on the other side of a war that we were currently fighting was doing, as if someone like Noam Chomsky just chose to ignore Unit 731 and the atrocities Japan was committing, while condemning Americans for fighting back.

Unfortunately, that kind of thing stopped being unthinkable at some point as subversion entered full swing. This can be blamed at least in part because of how long the war dragged on due to the conditions in Vietnam, but I also think technology and cultural factors, which continued to unfold and change into the later 20th century, are extremely relevant.

>>18008105
Regardless of whether you think commies are human, the facts of the war were that the US's effort was completely and utterly pointless, and they would have been much better off trying to enact change in other ways
>>
>>18008752
It was a geopolitical war, the US just stepped in on behalf of the French because we wanted the smoke

MAGAtards are not Americans so it's ok to sacrifice them to Moloch in the FEMA camps (remember when people genuinely thought this was going to happen and a stack of plastic coffins in a storage depot was proof of this? Good times. A more innocent age.)
>>
>>18009397
You're not a woman and you never will be one. And I'm okay with camps now. We need to build a lot of them because we have a lot of bad Americans that don't know how to behave.
>>
>>18008262
Yeah it will improve our image because we don't have disorder or the left making our country look weak and bad on the world stage. You're another bleeding heart liberal that screams about "muh free speech" there is no such thing as "free" anything including speech.

Fine by me, either send me to Washington DC right now or send me to El Salvador or Singapore or an actual country that has law and order and not blue run states in America and I'll gladly live there anytime. You can't have "liberty" without some law and order. I agree with that one guy Ali Alexander or whoever that told the lolberts to shut up and just start sending 500,000 people to a camp for punishment.

One is a sketchy destitute authoritarian regime with an incompetent legal system. The other is basically an island city run like an HOA but with a generally honest and civilized legal system.
