>the rich and poor...>...don't get along. That's it?I thought there'd be more to dialectical materialism after it being hyped for so long.
>>18009856It's just another jewish pseudoscience on par with Wilhelm Reich's orgone theory or psychoanalysis.
>NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO YOU CAN'T JUST WALK AROUND GATEKEEPERS LIKE THAAAT!!!
Ideology, law, and culture often reflect economic realities rather than purely abstract principles.
>>18009856its not about the rich and the poor, it's about classbut yeah class struggle is the primary contradiction
>>18010529Economic realities are interpreted through ideological principles thoughbeit
>>18009856It's also about inexplicably supporting social liberalism
>>18009856It means we get to dismantle your culture, then say "stop doing culture war stuff" when you get mad
>>18009856>don't get alongbecause they have opposite material interests, that part is important
>>18011763Too vague and generalized, too fixated on income and ownership/employment. In reality a blue-collar worker has more material solidarity with his local small business owner than with a tech HR employee, though i forgive the original socialists for not foreseeing that transition to an 80% service economy. Current-day socialists have no excuse.
>>18011630>a superstructure thinks it is the base
>>18010529This is true. But I find it very basic. It's like the realization that "Great Men" (really all men) are products of their environment, or that supply and logistics are more important that strategy and tactics.
>>18011921Supply and logistics are baked into strategy.
>>18011923True but people don't realize now that.
>>18011916It's superstructures all the way down
>>18010529They're often abstracted completely from these economic realities and forge their own.
Oh boy, a Marx thread full of people who have never read a single page of Marx!
>>18012001what is a structure then
>>18012010You don't need to read Marx to understand Marxism.Just like you don't need to read fascists to understand Fascism. The same with Capitalism.
>>18012010Your ideology is really not as deep as you think it is.
Class struggle is a mental illness.
>>18013301get a job
>>18009856Why did outsourcing happen?Consider Bob and John. Same white race, same IQ, same religion, grew up in the same area. Bob works in a factory selling his labor, John owns the factory, he pays Bob. What is the difference between this men?One day John decided, with his friends, to "outsource" "his" factory from Ohio to China. For Bob this is a disaster. His income is set to 0 - he is totally impoverished. For John this is a gain in livelihood. Because despite the fact he no longer has Bob to make money off of, he retains legal rights to a new factory in Shenzhen full of Wang instead of Bob. For John it's as if nothing changed except now he makes more money from profit (Total revenue - Costs = P), even though objectively there has been dramatic transformation. John doesn't work at the factory, "the factory" isn't even a singular place for John but rather a concept in legal documents, he "owns" it gets money that way. Two same men, dramatically different life changes and rationally selfish motivations. This is a class difference. Even if John and Bob are friends they are naturally opposed to each other in self interest.Regardless of how good or bad outsourcing is for many Bobs or even for the nation or greater civilization as a whole, the incentives for John are different. And society is biased towards what makes John the most benefit.
