Hebrew was literally preserved as the liturgical language of Judaism for thousands of years. The only “changes” they made to it when reviving it as a commonly spoken language was adding words for stuff that didn’t exist when it was last commonly spoken (like guns, cameras, etc). Have any of you ever actually sat down and compared Modern Hebrew to Biblical Hebrew? Obviously it's evolved with time, but the core vocabulary and grammar are very much the same.>”Only a few Hebrew words survived”You mean the entire Tanakh plus the Mishna? How much resemblance modern Hebrew has to Biblical Hebrew has nothing to do with how much right Israel has to occupy Palestine.
>>18012624Who even claims hebrew is a fake language?
>>18012635Me.>>18012624I have actually tried to learn both and Biblical Hebrew helped me very little with modern Hebrew. But that's not why people called it "reconstructed". They call it that because that's how modern Hebrew came to be. It's not a fake language. Just an intentionally revived one.
>I want to discuss language>btw Israel should occupy Palestine but that's offtopic ofcyou sound insecure OP
>>18012824I never said I supported Israel, are you braindead?
>>18012664You're either retarded or lying, or perhaps both. Biblical Hebrew allows you to understand Modern Hebrew in most cases, you just need to be aware of the pronoun ש taken from Mishnaic Hebrew and the fact that Modern Hebrew has a present tense formed with the active participle.
>>18013253I think he's talking about how Hebrew was exclusively used by priests and most jews spoke something else
>>18013253It didn't allow me to do that. Granted I never gained full fluency and niqqud make it two slightly different disciplines, but to pretend the two Hebrews are somehow near-identical is not my experience. They are more like ancient Greek and modern Greek.
