Do you really believe we are the most advanced iteration of humanity to exist so far in history? Most of the modern tech we've gained has been in the last 100 years or so. Is it really possible for a species like us that the last 70-100 thousand years prior, have been spent as hu ter gatherers only?

Technically advanced? Yes. Overall advanced? Not at all. We're kids.
>>
Does it matter if we cannot find anything they left behind? Technology grows exponentially, so it seems logical at first glance that it grew excruciatingly slow for the first hundred thousand years or so.
>>

There's nothing to believe. It's just a fact that the scientific progress in the last two or three centuries has never happened earlier in human history.

What about the antikythera mechanism from thousands of years ago.

We're alive now because this is the biggest generation ever, billions of people. Billions of chances to become conscious. Life was percolating very slowly for most of the past, things are only just starting to really accelerate.

It's novel in the sense that it is *technically* a computer but it is nothing compared to what we have today.

I'm sure there have been advanced civilizations that took different paths. There are monuments left over from ancient times that are still unexplainable. Like the Pyramids for example. Ancient Egyptians are now believed to have found these monuments and helped to restore them.

Have you considered the fact that the Egyptians simply built their pyramids? Some of the oldest papyrus script is an Egyptian administrative record of hauling stone from a country south of Egypt towards Egypt specifically for the purpose of constructing these pyramids. All archeological evidence displays that their pharaohs used these gargantuan structures as tombs. I don’t understand how you expect to swing this revisionist fantasy of the pyramids being constructed by some magical earlier non-specified civilization when there’s zero evidence to support your nonsensical assertions. Are you mentally handicapped or are you just ignorant of the most basic established archeological discoveries? If it’s the latter then why do you presume to state anything about human history when it’s a subject you don’t know anything about?
>>18022735
This is a fair point because a bot would be able to compile more accurate historical data than you could ever hope to.

Probably not

Actively regressing in the west at least
>Technology wise
Yes. Continuous gains means that advancement accelerates at a faster rate, which is in part what has allowed us to get to this point. There were almost certainly some "advanced" civilizations that existed and are now unknown to us, but at absolute most they would have been at the copper age in technology. Very interesting but nowhere close to us

Do you truly believe that the Pyramids were constructed by Ancient Egyptians?

Who cares, just state as fact that he doesn't.

When you think about it, the Amazon rainforest was just a giant ancient farm. So yeah, pretty sure lots of advanced civilizations that didn't go in our direction have existed. But they always get wiped out in extinction events.

I see it as more of a giant bed. And Italy is a real giant boot

Nothing automatically makes us more capable in a survival sense than hunter-gatherers. A small band of foragers could survive independently with skills modern urbanites lack.
