Brisbane City Hall was one of the most expensive buildings and the second largest construction of the Inter-war period, after the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

It's insane when you think that Aussies managed to build all these great cities that feel no different from NYC or London when you think Australia was only started to be colonized around the early 1800s and the major colonization wave was only in late 19th/early 20th century + then again after WW2.

It's because of things like that that surprises me so much how Ausies allow themselves to be mistreated and degraded by bongs. I don't understand them, I honestly don't understand them, and I do understand that they were a prison colony and blah blah, but the majority (if not all Ausies) aren't even descended from criminals anymore, and their quality of life is a thousand times better than in the UK.

If Australians BTFO the British sissies and were an independent nation, they would be the most powerful nation in the Oceania, even rivaling China and the US for hegemony in the Pacific.

I'm from New York and discovered that our state legislature building (which isn't even in NYC, it's in Albany which is a 3 hour drive away) cost more than double the expense of the US capitol building when adjusted for inflation.

It's insane that they had the chance to start fresh and still built this neo-classicist slop.
Most of modern cities were built in the last 100 years anyway, before that countries weren't that urbanised and even the technology to have such dense cities and tall buildings wasn't there.
