>microminuteman makes factual errors AGAIN!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Kuaq6d2ej4Remember when he said he was hiring a fact checker? He only has a bachelor's degree. What must his grades have been like? He's constantly getting shit wrong but talking like an authority. If I had unlimited time to research a presentation that I got to choose the topic of and I made factual errors on anything that isn't debatable I think I'd just fucking die. What can be done about people with audiences in the millions who aren't even capable of conducting proper research?I remember when I was a student, a lot of textbooks would claim sources said something and then when I read them for myself I found that the interpretation maybe wasn't quite how I would put it or the strength of the source was a bit overstated- but that's nothing compared to someone literally millions of people will listen to not even getting facts correct
>>18028662I used to like Milo, I stopped giving a shit about him when the first hour and 20 fucking minutes of one of his debunk videos was literally just him talking about himself and not actually debunking anything. I respect his sentiment about needing to combat misinformation online and all that but he's pretty guilty of this himself and tends to run his fucking mouth a lot, either that or he just has a really terrible editor that can't edit out the filler.
>>18028676>the first hour and 20 fucking minutes of one of his debunk videos was literally just him talking about himself and not actually debunking anything.Which one was this? Zieba?
>>18028678I can't even remember because I never got to the meat of the video before giving up and turning off. It was either that or one of his more recent Instagram reel debunks.
>>18028685For me the turn off was how he trashes archaeologists of the last couple centuries as racist, looking to enrich themselves, and destroying history, while at the same time claiming he wants to humanize the past He will give so much credit to ancient peoples- he even did in his Pompeii video- "they were people just like us!" but then people within the last couple centuries weren't like as and we all know better now and need to condemn their actions and thoughts.
>>18028698>He will give so much credit to ancient peoples- he even did in his Pompeii video- "they were people just like us!" I do get what he's saying when he says this. What he means is that humans of the past weren't stupid in the sense that they were literal retards like how a lot of pophis guys like to portray them as. He was saying this in response to conspiracy schizos saying shit like how the Ancient Egyptians couldn't have built the Pyramids without aliens or whatever.> but then people within the last couple centuries weren't like as and we all know better now and need to condemn their actions and thoughts. And that's also where he partially loses me because this line of thinking borders on outright Presentism which is bad faith when arguing about the past.
>>18028718>He was saying this in response to conspiracy schizos saying shit like how the Ancient Egyptians couldn't have built the Pyramids without aliens or whatever. Not just that though. In his Pompeii video he was making the point that real people lived and died there and they're not just artifacts and curiosities. To do this he says they had real thoughts and feelings and were just like us in the sense that they were just going about their livesHe does not then apply this same logic to more recent peoples, which you seem to agree with me on
>>18028662the reddit twink larping as an archeology student strikes again
>>18028835It would be less of an issue if his brand wasn't about truth
>>18028676I watch his videos sometimes and I want to like them. I like watching some mindless debooking videos. But Milo is such an annoying faggot. And I don’t mean the painted nails and faggy hair. He just comes off as such an annoying and self-righteous asshole. I want to enjoy videos like his, but I just can’t stand him and it’s like nails on chalkboard faggotness.
>>18028905>He just comes off as such an annoying and self-righteous assholeWhat was your first clue? Was it the fact he brings up white supremacy literally any chance he can?
>>18028908Obviously that’s annoying. But it goes deeper. He just talks with so much self-righteousness and “authority.” I don’t even know if I can explain it. It’s just a particular amount of um akschually bravado and dismissiveness. I wouldn’t be surprised if he actively pushes people away instead of convincing and reeling them back in.
>>18028915As much as he talks about how much he needs to learn and how he's not afraid of being corrected etc, he is every trope of the first year student who thinks they know everything because they took a 101 class
>>18028662So which of your beloved niche conspiracy theories has his utterly butt fucked you on this week?
>>18029291None whatsoever, I think conspiracytards are the bane of society and wish he would go in on them harder.Problem is he's a fucking idiot who can't research properly, so while he's making 3hr+ videos about "truth" he's also making a bunch of factual errorsB- student if ever I saw one
>>18028678The Zieba ones were fine. It's the recent trilogy that was mostly Vlogging.
>>18028698>For me the turn off was how he trashes archaeologists of the last couple centuries as racist, looking to enrich themselves, and destroying historyCalling them Racist is trite, but he isn't wrong about folks just blowing shit up with dynamite and taking the gold. Lots of Pre-Roman and early Roman tombs apparently also just had its content crumble to dust when being exposed to atmosphere and the folks who watched though that was swell and didn't care to leave any kind of documentation about what the stuff looked before the winds carried its remains off.
>>18028662Milo's big enough for people to try and get some of his shine on their new channel with barely any vids?
>>18029945Yeah but he's not talking about "woe is the lack of conservation" he very specifically talks about archaeologists who didn't know any better making mistakes that are only looked down upon after centuries of practice has been established. It's like being mad that ancient writers didn't cite their sources properly or just made shit up when writing histories. Like no fucking shit, they didn't have the attitudes that we have today, if you're all about humanizing the past then how about talking compassionately about these people being misguided or not being gifted with the wealth of awareness we have after centuries? Instead his compassion for historical peoples seems to wane the closer you get to modern white Europeans, no prizes for guessing why
>>18029051It was very obvious after the video he did about Native Americans where he confidently told people to go searching the desert for potsherds and make cute little piles out of them so tourists could see them, and an actual professional archaeologist had to film a response correcting almost everything he said and imploring people not to move potsherds as that is active destruction of archaeology evidence. Then Milo made one of those “I’m just an amateur don’t hold me accountable teehee” videos to defend his rampant misinformation and bad archaeology.
>>18030131>It was very obvious after the video he did about Native Americans where he confidently told people to go searching the desert for potsherds and make cute little piles out of them so tourists could see them, and an actual professional archaeologist had to film a response correcting almost everything he said and imploring people not to move potsherds as that is active destruction of archaeology evidence.Haven't seen that one, quick run down?
>>18030134Here’s the archaeologists response video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TJSMgKAkg2QMilo did a video on Native Americans that lived around the Utah desert. He gets many basic facts wrong. It’s clear he lacked knowledge on the subject and didn’t get anyone with experience to look over his work. The archaeologist rips his info apart, but uses kids gloves to do it (whether he is just a really nice unconfrontational guy or he’s pulling his punches because Milo heavily promotes left wing identity politics I don’t know). But it’s soft enough that Milo was able to just put out a “soz guys I got it all wrong cuz I’m just an amateur, nobody’s perfect. I’ll get it all right next time. Promise!” And it mostly got swept under the rug.
>>18029771Give examples of these factual errors that have got you so shitter shattered.
>>18030215>Give examples of these factual errors that have got you so shitter shattered.Okay well there's the video in the OP, the video here >>18030190 and I'll bring up another one just for youhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aZBsNGPVK2sIs 3 separate instances enough for you?

>>18031642What does that even mean?
>>18031758he’s going to googldy bunk the googldy bunker
>>18031801Who is he? Channel name?
>>18028662Milo fell off super hard when he switched from debunking specific conspiracies to just bullying C-List instagram reel stoners while vlogging in his unfinished basement and doing unrelated rants about his garden and faking "unscripted" moments like an asshole.A reminder that years ago he did a guided tour of Incan ruins promising it'd be like his tour of Gobleki and various bronze age ruins in Turkey and he has yet to post 1 video concerning the Inca since he did his tour the subscribers paid for. I'm surprised the guy even has subscribers when he shifted his content so heavily from archeology to saying he lives in New England for 2 hours and being unable to finish his "studio" while he scrolls instagram reels and goes off on unhinged tangents.Dude comes across as mentally unwell and a grifter who ran out of schtick
>>18031807>Dude comes across as mentally unwell and a grifter who ran out of schtickWell, that’s the left for you
>>18031642Please make videos about how South Americans and Native Americans were still in the Stone Age at the time Oxford University was foundedArchaeologists give way too much credit to “native” cultures because it’s politically correct to do so. In reality they were roughly 3000 years behind the rest of the world and that should be astonishing
>>18031899The South Americans were moving into the Copper/Bronze age, actually.>>18031842Still healthy enough to not catch a stray bullet.
>>18032002>moving into the Copper/Bronze age,>moving intoMeaning "were not in"In any even, European Bronze Age ~3200BC. The point stands, you have done nothing to undermine it. Cultures that were still using stone age tools at the time Oxford University was founded are given too much deference for politically correct reasons even though objectively they were literal millennia behind the rest of the world
>>18032002>Still healthy enough to not catch a stray bullet.Right, because they catch intentional bullets when the SSRIs don’t work anymore and they blow their brains out.
