Did Jupiter place a curse on the Goths and Vandals for sacking Rome? Their end was brutal; genocided and wiped out from existence on a three way front between Justinian, Slavs and Moors. The very few Goths in Crimea were eventually enslaved by or mixed with Tatars. There were once millions of them, but I don't think they left any genetic traces of their conquests anywhere.
>>18029299If this was the case, the Moors should've been genocided as well since they took part in the sack of Rome. Heck even the Gauls sacked Rome.
>>18029343And the Normans under Robert GuiscardAnd then the Spanish-German force of Charles V
>>18029299>The very few Goths in Crimea were eventually enslaved by or mixed with Tatars. They mixed with the Crimean Greeks, who held a privileged position in the Crimean Khanate, being the Merchant class.

>>18029343>Gauls Enslaved, genocided, barely any trace of Celtic languages left.>MudslimesSent back into the Stone Age by Turco-Mongols.>>18029353>NormansSpared because they escorted the Pope out of the city.>>18029353>HRE/SpainAssraped by Napoleon.Rome keeps winning.
>>18029368Napoleon also carted off all the paintings and art of Rome, so he technically plundered it as well.
Rome abandoned Jupiter long before that happened.
>>18029299 I remember being surprised as a kid when I realized Rome was Italy. How could a powerful ancient empire shrivel up into some little, irrelevant country?
>>18029368The Mongols, they only sacked Baghdad, most other major Islamic centers like Damascus, Cairo, Kerouane, Fes and Cordoba were left untouched. I was not referring to Muslims when I said Moors btw, but to the actual Moors: >But, after he had been made bishop, because of our sins it came to pass that Geiseric, in the ftfteenth year of his reign, seized Rome, the city until then most noble and renowned. At that time he took into captivity the wealth of many kings, as well as people. When the throng of captives reached the shore of Africa, the Vandals and Moors divided the huge mass of people into groups. -Victor of Vita
>>18029299Jupiter was dead by then, that's why rome was sacked.
>>18029683Italy is still one of the richest and most powerful countries in the world. It has a bigger economy than russia for instance.
>>18029683mongol empire, british, spanish, swedish, hundreds of other empires that no longer exist. it's ok
>>18029744Hahahahahahahahahahaha
>>18029368The HRE as a structure outlasted Napoleon, it was dissolved by Austrians formally but Brandenburg, Austria, and the German confederations remained.
>>18030048so what? that's a pointless technicality
Genetic drift and intermixing with dominant populations erased distinct Vandal markers over centuries.
