By using this term, instead of self or soul or even human, Heidegger emphasizes that Dasein is not some subject interacting with an objective world, but is a kind of activity, or range of possibilities of action. Dasein is a "clearing," an open region of meaning in which beings can come to presence (not a subject making a region of intelligibility).

According to Martin Heidegger, an artwork is a power that sets up its own "world" and reveals it to the viewer as a form of disclosure.

In Super Mario 64 they build on this idea in the way Mario enters different artworks, which literally constitute their own worlds.

This is Mario's particular "Dasein", he is thrown into the world via jumping. It's an interesting Heideggerian game. The controls basically force the player to embody Mario through experience resulting in a Dasein. The level of variety makes this interaction unique and due to a limited set of objectives with large amounts of variety and fantasy elements technology is facilitating an authentic Dasein.

nooooooo you can't just do things! You have to BE something by definition. If I'm not somebody, I'm nobody!

How the fuck did they end up in that situation?
>>
>>18034423
they were thrown into the world like that... it's called Geworfenheit and it must be understood in a purely ontological sense as wishing to signify the matter-of-fact character of human finitude

and freedom is the agonist why? Is freedom being used to refer to ignorance and selfishness as the opposite of submission to god?

The problem is Dad says I'm going to grow up like he wants me to. In order to have autonomy I have to turn my individuality into a political flag and idol.

Fell out of favor to post-structuralism (Barthes, Deleuze, Derrida, etc)
>>
>>18035016
It trigger Angst, a sense of existential alienation and being condemned to be an isolated individual who isn’t just one with everything
>>
>>18036504
so freedom as in intellectual freedom, the pain of imagining beyond your capabilities. Surely physical unfreedom would only obscure angst behind worse horrors.
>>
>>18036493
Deleuze is a structuralist, its just not a structuralism thats interested in exclusively subjectivity.

Lacans mathemes are pretty much useless if you havnt already decifered through the mess that his seminars. Its a hundred times easier to just go through freud and then working out what hes saying from their. Kants metaphysics of morals also really helps.

Lacan is literary fiction like most 20th Century French thought
