>invents monotheism
what did he mean by this
>>
>>18040492
Judaism already existed.
>>
>>18040503
Judaism was a henotheistic religion until the babylonian exile
>>
>>18040492
He tried the same stunt as Jesus. Identifying the in-group that is of God and declaring that they collectively are the one true God upon the earth, under his lordship.
>>
>>18040506
Judaism was really polytheistic for the lion's share of its history.

Amon priests hoarded all the wealth. They didnt pay any taxes and got their share of the revenues.

> In tombs such as that of Vizier Mereruka, we glimpse vividly painted scenes in which defaulters are bound, beaten with staffs, or confined, their names inscribed alongside their offences for eternity. This was not just retribution, but a form of civic theatre: a warning etched in stone that to defraud the state was to defy the divine order itself.

Iknaton did nothing wrong

>Identifying the in-group that is of God
It isn't a coincidence that he was white either.

He chased the Amon-Ra pharisees out, he did not identify with them
Then he moved the capital as an ultimate fuck you to anyone who doubted his divine intentions
He was a wild one for sure

And likely avoided the issue we have now regarding you-know-whos and billionaires.
Remember to tell Amon-Ra you are sorry for your greediness.

The old testament is mostly jewish mythology with little to no historical evidence
>>
>>18040537
No it wasn't.

Awomen, that's how we know the Hittites didn't exist.
>>
>>18040492
Zoroaster is held to have lived around 6000 BC, Akhy comes from the end of the 2nd millennium.

>>18040503
The OT is first written by Greeks, supposedly in the 3rd century BC. The first classical era jews don't exist until the 2nd century BC.

Akhenaten was literally a woke tranny.

>He chased the Amon-Ra pharisees out, he did not identify with them
I never claimed he identified with them.
>>
>>18040760
Actually, no, it's used by archaeologists. Since before the advent of genetics, we already knew that the biblical claims of the Philistines being from the Aegean were plausible due to writing and pottery, so with DNA we know that they were actually part Greek.

Your posturing couldn't be more obvious, or boring.

I do have to wonder if he had a genuine religious experience where he believed God had personally commanded him to do this.

Akhenaten embarked on a cultural revolution that would have been extremely disruptive to the lives of average Egyptians. He sent warbands out to every corner of the country to deface temples, and built a completely new city for himself at a ritually significant (but otherwise ridiculous) location. It's hard for me to imagine a king doing this just as a power grab.
>>
>>18041649
Well that has to be related with something that is going on right now. Because Aten is basically the current "god" of most of the western world.
>>

Bullshit

He was not a monotheist. He still worshiped other Gods and depicted them, just all at the expense of the others. His worship of Amun was not so controvesial, it was the closing of Temples and him being the only one allowed to conduct the rites of Egyptian worship that made him hated. The earliest mentions of monotheism in writing I know of are from Plato and the Bible, but clearly both ideas of monotheism are older.
>>18040503
Judaism did not exist in the Bronze Age and it likely did not become monotheistic until just before or after the Babylonians.

Aten and Amun are not the same
