Sumerian Oannes gave knowledge and apparently taught sacred rituals, was the messenger and priest of Enki-Ea, although it is assumed that it was Enki-Ea
John's head is cut off. So this is what the mysteries of Dionysus-Osiris and their analogues were connected with.

>Dionysian women in Tanagra behead Triton with an axe, lured by the scent of wine. According to the oldest version, Dionysus himself cuts off Triton's head—which, according to the law of Dionysian identification, indicates the Dionysian nature of the sacrifice (the severed head is associated with the cult), reflecting the fate of the god himself. The legend seeks an etiological explanation for the veneration of the head retrieved from the sea. The image of Triton was needed to commemorate the fish-god with a human head. At Methymna, this cult is directly attested: the god, pulled in the nets of fishermen, was a mask (prosöpon) made of olive wood, which was commanded from Delphi to be honored as Dionysus-Phallenus, i.e., phallic. The tree's genus indicates the cult's connection with the triad of Dionysian plant powers Oino, Spermo, and Elais—the nymphs of miraculous abundance, "of wheat, wine, and oil."
Orpheus also loses his head, and he is a priest of Dionysus

So, it's all connected. It's either some kind of game of higher powers, or some new retelling of a myth from the mysteries. The Book of Revelation of John also reworks the myth of Apollo, Leto, and Python.
The trope of a king learning he's in danger of by a miraculous child is a common one. The Greeks and Romans immediately recognized the familiar motif, as did the God who dies and rises.

Retard

The pine cone in the Vatican was moved from the Temple of Serapis-Osiris (Osiris + Apis or Šar Apsi - King Apsu = Enki-Ea)

The book Hamlet's Mill suggested a connection between John and Oannes.

It's noteworthy that Babylonian myth and the Gospels state that both priest did not eat or drink human food and were associated with water.

>From Hadrian Augustus to Servianus the consul, greeting. The land of Egypt, the praises of which you have been recounting to me, my dear Servianus, I have found to be wholly light-minded, unstable, and blown about by every breath of rumour. There those who worship Serapis are, in fact, Christians, and those who call themselves bishops of Christ are, in fact, devotees of Serapis. There is no chief of the Jewish synagogue, no Samaritan, no Christian presbyter, who is not an astrologer, a soothsayer, or an anointer. Even the Patriarch himself, when he comes to Egypt, is forced by some to worship Serapis, by others to worship Christ. [The letter continues on to non-religious matters.]

>John the Baptist
Baptised Jesus. That's why he matters. Baptism itself is basically a joke these days, nobody understands the significance so its become just a vain ritual.

Proper baptism must take place in a living flowing river, the person must be completely naked

Seriously, this is exactly how the early Christians baptized themselves. They baptized themselves completely naked.
The Mandaeans also believe in baptism in a running river (although they don't believe in Jesus, only John. Perhaps their dislike of Jesus stems from the fact that all Gnostics were persecuted by the Church).

If you're focused on the physical aspects of it then you've missed the point. What clothes you've got on or what body of water is irrelevant. Why its done, and to whom for what purpose are the real questions.
>>
>>18050862
No, the ritual is important and it must be performed in living, flowing water.
>>
>>18050870
The ritual is important only in that the baptised must be held under the water until they either submit to the authority of of God or die. The rest is window dressing.

Sounds like torture

Confession, Communion
Naked person
Living, flowing river
Orthodox or Catholic priest (Protestants are heretics)
Triple immersion in water
Everything you need

Why does that word seem a bit like Noah? Especially the Russian version.

Nun/Nu/No

I wouldn't say so, but Noah(Noy in russian and armenian) is a little consonant with the Egyptian Nun(water); a connection was suggested, but perhaps only in the mysteries was the truth revealed. All myths are entangled with parables, allegories, and symbols.

John the baptists was Jesus's cousin

>Sounds like torture
Not really, If you just relax and submit then its no big deal. But if you don't understand why its done and to who for what reasons then its only a vain ritual no matter how much pointless window dressing you add to it.

it's almost as if organized religion is an anthropological phenomenon that is emerges and evolves along with society

This is also found in many Fairy Tales where the younger more verile warrior and or more beautiful princess is perceived as a threat to the aging, impotent, patriarch/matriarch.

All of these themes speak to the innate biological truth that all "alpha males" and "top dogs" eventually get conquered by the new "young buck". It's Nature's Way.

Decapitated "Wisdom Prophets" are very common INDO-EUROPEAN mythical theme found in characters like Mimir, The Green Knight, Orpheus, et. al.

The "talking head" without a body is now free of the physical world and able to become "pure mind". This is often depicted artistically as a head/helmet with wings showing that the mind has "taken flight".

Tanagra?

Correct. Mudslimes still adhere to this rule when rinsing their hands and feet before entering a mosque.

Stagnant water, especially in Antiquity, was just as likely to get you killed as clean. The Jews are too dumb to realize this, which is why they do, indeed, use stagnant water in the mikvah ode (or however you spell that gibberish). They would basically dig a hole in the ground, fill it with water, and then just all "ritually" trapse in and out of it like livestock in a flea dip. Every synagogue still has them so the jew broads can purify themselves after bleeding from their holes for a week, or various other ceremonies that require fetid, period puddles to bathe in.
