Did Winters really politically bully(and actually bully) Sobel after the war?
>>
Ambrose, in addition to being a plagiarist and incredible liar, had a mancrush on Winters and uncritically published whatever he said without doing any followup research or fact checking.
>And then I told Sobel to stick his courts martial up his ass!
>Wow Dick, you're so bad ass!
>And Nixon leaned over and pointed out a grammar error!
>Hilarious!!! *rolls on floor in hysterical laughter like that one scene in Goodfellas*
>>
Winters is a great writer. If you've ever read Beyond Band of Brothers, you'll know what I mean.

Ambrose's (and his work's) reputation and legacy in the eyes of general public was saved by him getting a lung cancer and swiftly dying of it just few months after first plagiarism accusations. There is no way he would have been able to survive unscathed if he would have had to actually defend himself in media, but death spared him from that.
