The Portuguese Empire was the longest running colonial Empire in human history despite the British stabbing the Portuguese in the back multiple times, and Spain literally created an entire world of Spanish speaking people in South America. The British Empire's major accomplishments were all military, there was hardly an actual Empire considering how much territory it controlled. Only the Tories are still fond of the British Empire because it was only good for the rich fucks in Westminster while the people were being sent off to die in the badlands.
