What was Saddam thinking?

the us quietly implied they would tolerate him invading kuwait without definitively saying it was cool because he had outlived his usefulness to the us and they were baiting him into making a stupid move
when he invaded, assuming the us would get everyone else to chill out and perhaps negotiate a peace that would give iraq some financial compensation if he had to withdraw, the us sunk the dagger into his chest and marshalled the world to invade iraq

now, its not good that he thought he could play the us to get away with invading his smaller neighbors but that's why he thought he could get away with it and why he was so indignant that the us all of a sudden acted like it cared about the little shithole gulf states

Im going to be honest. This sounds like one of those bullshit historical facts you see on Reddit that is utter nonsense, but midwits love to say because it shows off how redpilled they are to the morally grey world of politics we live in.

Highway of death
Bulldozer assault
"Gulf war syndrome"
Secret experimental vaccines forced on soldiers
False flag gas attacks
Friendly fire was the majority of NATO casualties

none of this has anything to do with on if America told Saddam to invade Kuwait which didnt happen.

In 2003, he thought the U.S. wouldn’t commit to a ground war, and would get bogged down and retreat like in Lebanon.
