Probably pretty cool to be a nobleman of any stripe. So much to do with so many possibilities in a rising empire. Being a poor schmuck shoveling shit in a Welsh coal pit or fingering some spinning jenny in Liverpool was probably pretty close to hell. Although, the standard of living was continuing to rise, and it was probably decent if you were anywhere in between those possibilities. If the worst comes, you could join a regiment and go tour India or move to a colony and get free land. This is all if you are British or of British-descent in a dominion. Otherwise, who cares.
