Why did the left largely abandom materialist modernism for a metaphysical postmodernism in the late 20th century? As a materialist, it genuinely feels like i'm talking a completely different language when engaging with modern leftists and so called Marxists, even on leftypol, where Postmodernist analysis and priori are just held as unquestionable axioms, and being a materialist modernist often gets you labelled as a " reactionary".For me, it seems like post-modernism mostly forwards an extreme form of liberalism, so it's bizarre that most of the modern "left" subscribe to a post modernist framework.
